  3. thanks for the reply. the problem is my boss wont let me touch the server at all (using NT 4.0) ...oldschool for him all IT is a dreamland and i am the deliverer .. he has asked me to create an .exe or .bat file so that when the user executes it, it automatically creates the PPP connection is there any third party of anything in XP Pro... please help

Hello, im trying to make this script which when inserted in XP Pro i) automatically starts and does a network configuration from a list of txt/doc file on the cd...that is to say the list txt/doc file has a set of MAC addresses and corresponding IP addresses... ii) the cd looks for the MAC address on the computer and then accordingly applies the IP settings from the txt file when it sees a match..as well as the computer name i hope i have set forth my problem in an understanding manner... any help is welcomed thanks in advance
