  1. I'm almost giving up on it as well. I have a coulple of questions though. how do i get rid of that slowness in command prompt? what i could delete from the image to slim it down, just to keep networking? thnx in advance
  2. There is a special GUID that is used in vista bootmgr named {legacy} that is designed to boot pre-vista OS like XP. You can see an example by typing BCDEDIT /? ID. If you are using dual boot bitween vista and xp, through BCDEDIT you can see {legacy} entry to boot xp. Now, that {legacy} entry is quiet shorter that of vista, and i have no idea if it would accept ramdisk as a device option. Another option would be vista bootmgr after uncompressing wim into ramdisk would pas onto another boot sector , like bootsect.bin or something, but as well ihave no idea if bootmgr is able to do that. I hopr there is somebody who is savy in that whole bootmgr stuff could clarify me on theses thoughts.
  3. Any specific info/link how could that be done unattended from cd?
  4. At the moment i am doing it through GuiRunOnce after the first logon. The purpose is to have Install stopped at that point, to give users a chance to complete configuration (oobe stuff: user accounts, internet connection etc.) themselves. More like those big brand factory preinstalled computers. Surely I could sit there and switch the computer off when it reboots the second time, but then it would not be unattended really. I thought more on the idea of hex editing one of the setup files (syssetup.dll?) or something like that. While i'm at it it would be nice to see my UACD ejected before shutdown too.
  5. Don't know if that's exactly what are you looking for but BCDW 2.01a has password option, basically you can configure it to ask for a passworg when cd boots. It won't protect the data on cd, but prevent booting cd by curious people who borrow other people's cds without permission.
  6. Sorry if I'm double posting , but i cant seem to find it anywhere in the forum. What i wanted is to make install shutdown computer after gui section of install ( where computer normally reboots for the second time ) thanx in advance
  7. Thanx for the input cluberti, I actually thought about doing it through WinPE, but i think if I boot WinPE of the HDD the parthition where its on would be C: again and the one I want to install windows on would be D:. And then again it would not be that much unattended, plus it would increase installation time since I would have to wait WinPE to get loaded as well. What i was thinking, if there anyway to make USB HDD or partition containing installation files to emulate CD or something like that.
  8. Hello, I'm trying to use my USB HDD as a media for my Unattended install instead of CD/DVD. I did manage to boot into Windows XP installation, but when it goes to the part of choosing partition to install onto, the partition on USB HDD which boots and contains installation is marked C: and partition on primary IDE HDD where i want to install Windows XP is marked D:. When install is complete Windows XP appears to be installed on D: even with USB HDD disconnected. I guess Windows XP setup marks USB HDD partition as C: because it boots into it. I would like to know if there is anyway to change that behavior, so my USB HDD partiotion would be marked as D: or E: and the partition i want to install Windows onto C:. Thanx in advance Note, that i boot directly into windows setup without using CD, Floppy or DOS setup mode
