  1. dhoffman_98 I'am not correctly understood you last post. I thought you say that it's totaly not for xpsp2. Now I comprehend the cause of problem. I see the KB again and i agree that v 2.0 not needed to apply over 1.0 if it's already installed. This trouble appear because ms include updates for diffrent system (sp1 & sp2) in one pack, and size of update pack changed because ms shamanized with sp1 files in this pack. I don't have a deal with such situation before. I'll change post with update.

  6. cumminbk First of all: Thanks, I'm only public the work that I do for myself. If list of know updates will grow such rate, I'm fear, The Web not endure so many ms bugs /quie is a typo, /quiet is right variant. I get all switches running update with "/?" command. I correct it in last posts (I see that Incroyable HULK found this error before post updates). /Q /N /Z switches is a old style format switches for updates with hotfix.exe engine. I think Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is not a hotfix, it'a program. .NET Framework technology will be integrated in Windows Vista, and now many programs use it. Perhaps .NET Framework 2.0 must be add in title (MS WINDOWS XP PRO SP2 - (35) WITH Windows Media Player 10 & MSN Messenger 7 installed), because we don't post updates for 1.1 version. I use only v 2.0 but i heard that some programs, writed for 1.1 version don't correct work with v 2.0. It's a difficult question for now what we must to do with it. I would prefer to wait until most serious bug's of 2.0 version will be eliminate, and than point it as basic. KB892130 Windows Genuine Advantage Tool. For this update the good place is in other/optional section. It's really don't do something usefull . I don't use winupdate and don't need this update. But as far as I know this update need to install IE7 beta (that i don't want to use also). So after some time it must be placed in critical. Now i can't say anymore because they delete the KB Article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;892130), and on ms site this no more info. 9. boooggy cumminbk Update KB889911 in list of prerequisites of many wmp updates. I don't think it's a good idea exclude it. How are you get to know that the wmploc.dll include in wmp10? Do you have a list of wmp10 files? I also would like to have it WinXp media center is windows xp with many media additions (disk 1 - windows xp, disk 2 - additions). This file can be placed at disk2. "Unstable" hotfix change the version of wmp, attention ! possible it's a very malignant bug
  10. cumminbk If a hotfix has lable "not stable" this doesn't display that there is a lot of bug's or anything else, this only mean that there was no fully completed official process testing of hotfix. Inside microsoft they themselves use this hotfixes and this hotfixes also included in ryanvm pack. I think microsoft never be public it, only include in new build. Moreover for wmp exist a lot of not stable hotfixes and only this one, that I writed, have the public link for download. This mean that many people request in microsoft for this hotfix and many people needed in that. boooggy I was surprised, but where do you get .3955 version of wmp? All, that i can find at download center is .3802. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results...media+player+10 From http://www.microsoft.com/ this is a link to download http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...d/download.aspx, but there is no version info, only size: 11,638 KB. The size of .3802 is 12456 KB. Not seems like a new build. As concerning 904415, I saw it before, but ignore it because of "applies to" section (only Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 SDK). Now i see that it's also need. And about 888656, I don't think you right. What's with this file: 30-Apr-2005 21:23 10.0.0.3923 900,856 Wmvdmod.dll. KB896096 (Qasf.dll), 896097 (Wmasf.dll). Hm, i thought before that wm format sdk hotfixes doesn't needed for wmp. Seems like i made a mistake. I'll check it. 904415, 896096, 896097, 900399, 902344, 904415, 904555 I'll see this hotfix. KB910393 it's only for Media Center Edition 2005, and don't see file Wmploc.dll in last hotfix. It's really needed for xp sp2? cumminbk As I wrote before there is no matter to worry about correct work of this hotfix (so as far as it appliable to microsoft). In ryanvm pack really many hotfix, but only small part of them has a link for public download, and i would like to see this hotfix in list:) If ms public a link to "unstable" hotfix there is a really reason exist. I don't relate to ms updater good, because this is only a program, possible with it's own bug's and I don't want to entrust security to it. If you want, why do you not simple use it? boooggy About 891122, where do you get the list of wmp 10 files? If wmp 10 contain all this file why "applies to" section contain wmp 10? Are you check the file dates? Unofficial microsoft hotfix, heh I think this no matter to discuss this subject. Then we can call winxp unstable ms product and what then you will not use it? And don't right. The hotfixes you posted are also not stable! For exaple see 888656: "A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next release that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support" The download link was added after KB article was published. I post such hotfixes. About 910393 again: the files it updates not included in winxpsp2, only media center (disk 2) cumminbk "i agree KB891122 is not a update needed for the current WMP10 install" But i don't agree . So many events for short time
