Now we can argue whether breath or alcohol will break down the cd faster B) since saliva is intended to help break down food would it be worse than alcohol on a cd? (I'm being just a bit anal retentive now lol) COOL.....Toothpaste gets an MSFN Forum 5 star rating!!! (maybe it shoutd be sticky......(really bad joke))

I read through the second article, and I just have to add another view point. the second article applies under the belief in natural selection. This is no solid basis for evolution, so an assumption must be made that the changes in people are actually casused by natural selection. I'm not trying to start a fight or argument, it's just interesting to think what these changes in the brain would mean under the belief in creationism. there si even a school in kentucky, I think it's kentucky, that has to teach a form of creationism alongside evolution. I think this is ridiculous, I know it is also off topic, it's just amazing some of the changes to our society that have been going on lately (american society I'm referring to). I personally don't feel strongly either way toward creationism or evolution. Keeping an open mind either way, or for any "theories" for that matter, helps people to learn better. Being stubborn about a subject and not listhening to others rationally is probably one of the most ignorant things people do.

SHARING IS FUN !!!! Sorry, feeling sarcastic this morning, no meanness intended. I have to add I can't thank enough people on here for all that I've learned. I've got my unattend working well, and learned more than I ever thought I would about windows from this site. I still have yet to ask a single question. No bragging intended, I'm just really stubborn when it comes to asking for help when I'm stuck on something (usually my problem is having a "5" where I'm supposed to have "%") Doing everything by yourself is definetely the way to go, when problems arise they are easier to solve when you have done everything else. Cutting and pasting scripts is good when you already understand what you are doing. I have to say thanks again, and good luck to you xtentic. It's a great feeling when you spend hours trying to do something and finally get it working.

@ojojpgee search, search, and search some more. I changed mine without using the oem files. I believe there are a few links in this thread with all the information you are looking for. good luck

I agree with Pixelated. It's not easy to find images.....google. I just took one picture I found and re-colored it the way I wanted. Also, be careful with the size you choose, and the main picture. I had to re-do my setup screen twice after I thought I was done to keep the buttons from blocking the picture behind it. Looks like you are doing good though, Your screen is nice. I can't tell you how long I searched for pictures, I still have to find a lot more to make my desktop and replace icons, etc... happy hunting and good luck

I just realized you left this post or I would have replied earlier. My version is not the full package 5 disk. It's just a single trial disk I bought through school. The 5 disk set is the only one you are able to make an admin install point with (I know there is another thread relating to how to change the install options). Anyway, I haven't really been playing with this much lately. I think I might work on my unattend disk more this week. School has been busy, but next week looks like a light work load. I do have the 5 disk set, I really don't need all these programs though, and the academic version was more of a challenge. There are other things I want to work on also, so I am just going to add some of the programs from 5 disk set and move on to other stuff. I know this was a long winded babbling poet, I got up at 5 after sleeping only 3 hours. Insomnia sucks lol thanks again for a great guide I think this guide would be a great sticky as well !!

wow, I just went back and tried downloading from ati again. Sure enough, no registration required this time. I heard they were actually going to use 'magic' in the 5.11, this will negate the need for miracles.
-
Thanks............ I Think It's impossible to keep up with these drivers anymore. I think catalyst 5.11 is getting released yesterday! ----EDIT I just tried to download and those scumbags at ATI force you to register to download from their site. I got it from MajorGeeks here The driver should be on the first window. A telephone number is even required, like I don't get enough junk mail already.

I just wanted to add I made my firt attempt to install this on my pc, rather than VM, yesterday and the software didn't install. This iwas most likely caused from having services and/or programs removed which office needs to run. (I forgot to write down the error ) Also, I am not able to make an admin install point with this version, and I think I will have to manually install my key, not sure if it is going to work in the mst file. I'm going to test again tonight, I have a bunch of other stuff to fix on top of this problem. -----EDIT Just tried a new install. Office began loading, and rolled back without any messages. Going to try again when I get a chance.

Thanks for the excellent guide. Worked great for me installing SP2 on my student/teacher edition...or whatever it is (says 30 day trial on the disk, no it's not pirated). My original disk was 391 mb. after slipstream it's 388 mb. ---burned with nero Updating the guide would probably help some people out. It took me a couple tries to get everything right. @zxian My install is getting cached to the HD, not sure if this is just because of the version I'm using. I just used the original guide, didn't make any other tweaks.

Acrobat Reader Update 7.0.3 silent install

My opinion is that people who write viruses are just trying to show off. I beleive a lot of these pepole think they are really smart because they can write a virus. I get this impression from seeing how people act in the computer classes I take. Being in my first year of college these are all basic classes, or introductory. I'm just amazed at how smug some of the people are, here they are in Introduction to c++, for example, and won't help other people when they have questions, or they just outright laugh at someone who asks a question. Then there are people who, during lectures, constantly ask irrelevant questions in an attempt to show off their knowledge. I really could see people like this getting their hands on a virus, or writing thier own, and sending it out on the net so they can brag about it to others.

FAQ | Slipstreaming MassStorage drivers?
FaceMouth replied to DesperateUnattendedInstallUser22's topic in Device Drivers
try searching for "f6" or something like that. I ran into a lot of threads about controllers while I was looking for something completely different. try searching "sata" as well. I'd post a link, but I'm quite sure where the posts were, and its 3 am. My brain is is quickly becoming a soupy mixture of confusion. edit-- Just ran into this again. automatic F6 install good luck -
I can answer this for you. As for the rest, I would recommend reading and searching more before asking questions. You should also provide more information, such as posting your winnt.sif. For hardware, make sure to ask in hardware threads and give specs for your system. As for sata controllers, if yours is on the mobo and not pci card, then you shouldn't need to install drivers. Again, this depends on what you have deleted from your uacd. Also, the only real need for sata drivers installed at f6 is for raid support and probobly if you have a pci sata card. I can't say 100% since I don't know your hardware and I've really only looked up info for my own. if the HD gets partitioned from the cd I would think there are no read problems with the cdrom.

how to auto-format partitions ?
FaceMouth replied to Agent007's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
The repartition answer works for me. I'm very new at this, found this site about two weeks ago. My best advice for $OEM$ files is just keep searching and reading. The answers are almost always somewhere in this forum, if not google works great. Also, try nlite if you haven't used it yet. I haven't tried it, I like doing everything myself, but it seems to be a very good program requiring minimal knowledge on teh part of the user. Finally, I hope I helped a bit and if I seem to be arrogan in any way it is unintentional. -
'Windows will adjust your resolution'-prompt
FaceMouth replied to Mojo's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I'm using windows vitual pc, and I was getting bad resolutions before I installed updates. After windows was loaded the best resolution I could get was 1024x768 (can't remember refresh). Anyway, What I found is that there is a problem with the amount of ram used for the display, max was 4 MB's before I updated. Now I can get 1280x1024 @ 75htz. The weird thing about this is that I had to have an OS intalled in the VM to download the updates. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this). To get the updates, after OS is installed, click the "Action" button @ the top of the screen. Then just click "Install or Update Vitual Machine Additions" There are other display settings that can be changed in the VM. I can't remember all, but you can set the vm display to match the host system (which doesn't give proper results). hope this helps a bit Pay attention to what cheezus says. Just found this in the VM help: Emulated devices on virtual machinesVirtual PC emulates most of the hardware components for the virtual machine. The emulated hardware is detected by the virtual machine operating system and appears to both the operating system and any users of the virtual machine as physical hardware. The following table lists the basic hardware components and their corresponding emulated hardware. Component Virtual machine emulated hardware BIOS AMI BIOS Chipset Intel 440BX Sound card Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 ISA Plug and Play Network adapter (multi-function) DEC 21140A 10/100 Video card S3 Trio 32/64 PCI with 8 MB Video RAM Video card configuration Virtual PC emulates the S3 Trio 32/64 PCI video card. Virtual PC also supports VESA 2.0. Specify one of the two supported video cards when programs require manual configuration. -
@zxian thanks for the info. I made sure to make a fresh burn after I retrieved the data. It's my understanding that rubbing alcohol is good to clean disks, correct me if I'm wrong though. I don't floss.......I save the food in my teeth for a snack.

Hi Looks like this is the best forum for this tip. Excuse me if it's not. My original xp cd was scratched so bad I couldn't copy it to make my unattend cd. The only backup I had was slipstream with sp1a. I tried a few programs to recover all the files from the original disk, but none were 100% effective. Then I read about toothpaste. Unfortunately I can't remember the site I read about this on. Anyway, get some cotton balls and put some toothpaste on them. Rub your scratched cd with the cotton balls until the majority of the scratches are gone. Rinse the disc with water and dry it with a cloth that won't scratch. This worked great for me. I just used paper towels to rub the toothpaste in, and to dry it. I put the disc in and was able to copy and paste the disc onto my hard drive without any errors. The stupid $20 cd cleaning device I have couldn't even get all the scratches out. I didn't wipe the disk until all the scratches were gone, just enough that a large majority of them were gone. If anyone is interested, I used Crest Multi-Care mint flavored toothpaste. I only tried this since the disc was so damaged I didn't care if I completely wrecked it. Hope this helps some people out.

Just wanted to say hi. I found this site a couple days ago and it's great. I've been working on my unattended cd for a couple days and still don't need to ask any questions. Thanks for all the information, and hopefully I will be able to help out other people one day.
