  1. Krakatu, Thanks so much. You put me onto the solution to the problem with spell checking being unavailable in Outlook Express. Once I realized that it only works when Microsoft word processor type products are installed on the PC, it reminded me that I had not reinstalled MS Works on the PC. I found my CD and installed it and the spell checker in Outlook Express became available again. This solution didn't occur to me, because I use Corel Office Suite and not MS Word, etc. Thanks again for your help. Glenn
  2. I have had to reinstall a new OEM Operating system on a new hard drive in my PC because my old drive had bad sectors and corrupt Win XP (Home) files. I did this with no problems. But now, when I start up Outlook Express on the essentially new PC, the spell checking button is not accessible for e-mails. I have had to copy and paste the text into my word processor and back again into Outlook Express e-mail screen to do spell checking. I'm not sure where Outlook Express gets its spell checking. I use Corel Office Suite (8 and 10) for word processing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Glenn
  3. I have a home office with WinXP networked PC's. (Two desktops and a notebook) One PC had problems with a hard drive with corrupt or missing WinXP files and unreadable sectors on the hard drive. The other desktop was fine. (PC's are MicroCenter PowerSpec Pentium 4 models) I replaced the bad hard drive and installed a new OEM version of WinXP Home SP2. I reinstalled the software, configured the new PC for home office networking and moved my data back over to the reconfigured PC from the 2nd desktop PC. Both PC's worked in standby. I don't recall doing anything in particular that would cause it, but now neither PC works in standby. The 2nd desktop PC didn't always work in standby before and I would have to change the power saving settings (to say, a different time to take effect), and click apply and close and then repeat changing the settings back to the desired time to take effect to get them to work. It seems Standby mode is quirky at best. But I have enjoyed it working on one of the two PC's for 2 years and would like to get it working on both machines. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, if this is a repeat topic. I couldn't find an answer to my particular issue. G. Combs
