thanks jaclaz, the second link you provided solved my problem. It was a permissions thing. i had accidently deleted the everyone access on my c: drive which i guess cause the system to not be able to write the page file.........

Hi, when i boot up my computer i get a message saying: "Limited Virtual Memory - your system has no paging file or the paging file is too small." When i go to the "system properties-peroformance options" it tells me that the total paging file is set to 20mb. When i try to change it the minimum value is already set to 768 max 1536. I checked the drive i have 2.5 gig free space and i have even tryed adding more VM on other drives but no matter what i try it always says 20mb is allocated accross all drives. My computer is a P4 1.6/512ram/win2000
