  1. Right, I have sorted out this problem (Thanks to Zxian ) The main problem remains, why can't I run chkdsk? What is stopping it from running?
  2. To delete the Recovery Console follow these steps: Open My Computer. Double-click the hard drive on which you installed the Recovery Console. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. Click the View tab. Click Show hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK. At the root directory, delete the \Cmdcons folder. At the root directory, delete the file Cmldr. At the root directory, right-click the Boot.ini file and then click Properties. Clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK. Open Boot.ini in Notepad, and remove the entry for the Recovery Console. It will look similar to this: C:\cmdcons\bootsect.dat="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons Save the file and close it. ZXIAN GFYA
  3. How do you remove the Recovry Console please?
  4. I have a problem with chkdsk. Everytime I try to run Disk Defrag I get this error: "Disk Defragmenter has detect that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on volume: (C:). Please run Chkdsk /f." I have looked on this forum but I canot see the exact answer to my problem as it involves another process not functioning properly. I have run chkdsk the cmd way and that is no good. I have tried it by right clicking my c drive etc and that does not work either. It does work on my e drive however so it is functioning. I cannot start my recovery console or enter my bios settings etc as on start up all keys are disabled. I get the message to choose between recovery console or xp but cannot select any option and have to wait for the time out. The I get the blue xp screen saying that chkdsk cannot run (or words to that effect) and the pc boots into windows without achieving anything. Can anyone shed any light on this anomoly?
