  1. I wish I could, but I am not a domain admin
  2. I'm logged on as a local admin, workstation is part of domain. I've got a lot of folder missing in the administrative templates (in gpedit.msc). How do I get them back? The only thing I have is Windows components. I don't have the following: start menu & task bar desktop control panel shared folders network system
  3. I've seen some workstations where I am a local admin and I get an error message after creating the user that the password does not match some requirements. I had a complex password so I assumed it had something to do with restricting creating local users.
  4. is there a group policy that will restrict a local admin to create loca users on a workstation?
  5. does anyone know where the policy is to disable creation of local users on a workstation?
  6. nice tip. Where is the excel file? I'd like to see what the other policies are and where they are in the registry.
  7. is there a setting in the registry that sets a device not to be asked to install the drivers if there are not dirvers for a device?
  8. I got past that error by replacing sti.dll from the original 2003 cd (replaced it with the one before the service pack). Now I'm getting an unknown isis error.
  9. I gave everyone full rights on the c:\windows directory and logged in as local administrator. still get the same message box. (I was logged in as another user before with admin rights). I thought it would be some dcom problem like I had before with other apps having problems when SP1 is installed but I don't even get the DCOM error in my event viewer.
  10. I'm only using this for testing and unfortunately, the scanner is not even certified with Windows 2003. I got it working with Windows 2003 (without the service pack) but after I installed the service pack, I can't get it to work. It's listed under device manager and the drivers are installed but once I attempt to scan, I get the windows message box: Configure Device Settings: Selected Device: No Devices Found Rescan Bus.
  11. I got the scanner to work with windows 2003, but after the service pack is installed, it doesn't work. The drivers are loaded correctly, but for some reason, the isis application doesn't detect the scanner. I am using a USB connection. I tried enabling the windows Image Acquisition service but that didn't help. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
  12. you'll have two separate winnt.sif files, one for each directory.
  13. i added 2003 SP1 Enterprise, did the same thing as above and it's almost done with the install
  14. my install finished and i'm got windows 2003 sp1 installed from my multi disc. though my multiboot only has one OS right now. all I did was replace the setupldr.bin in the 3std and i386 directory and it ran fine! I used the setupldr.bin from the original install (before integrating the SP) and editing it to point to 3STD winver reads: version 5.2 build 3790.srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447: service pack 1
