  1. OK gang- the polls are in and- Win2000pro is the winner!!!!!I'm in the process of putting together a new tower. Its a micro tower because I'm short on space. (no pun intended) Thanks for your advice. Radman53
  2. Thank you Gentlemen- I Have my answer!!!!! :newbie: The version I have has the SP2 Pack included with it.
  3. How feasable is it to use Win 2000 Pro on a desktop? I know its basically for corporate network use but how does one tweak for personal use at home?
  4. SK8TRSTU- it takes someone across the pond to get it right. My hats off to you-(if I had a hat) 4 now I'm sticking with Windows 2000 pro- until Lindows is perfected. I can wait
  5. Well since my last post I had a chance to fiddle with some OS's- Windows 2000, XP home and Lindows 4.0- The 2000 model- not too bad but still a @#$%^*&%%&^ to set up without proper drivers. XP- I only went near it because a friend of mine's PC wouldnt start and his keyboard wouldn't work. I got it working with his Restore CD. Pretty straight forward. As for Lindows- Billy Gates better be worried- I tried the version that runs off the CD and I'm VERY impressed. If more third party vendors would make Linux versions of their software, its ASTA-LAVISTA BABY!!!!
  6. Well Boys and Girls- we will just have to wait and see- I'm patient- how about you?
  7. Do your research- I know XP is already spyware and everything I posted has been validated. Thats why for now Im going no further in Windows than Me. And after that I'm switching to Linux( I trust the Penguin). I absolutely loathe some company looking over my shoulder. I believe Longhorn will be the death-nell of Microsoft. Once the word gets out- NO Consumer will go for it!!!!!! Oh- and by the way- check out the article for you AMD chaps HERE And while I'm on a role- find out what Longhorn and palladium mean together-http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973...3,264904,00.asp]HERE
  8. Is everyone going to be sorry...........Longhorn is going to change EVERYONE'S lives. Spyware up the wazoo.........New File association........... Backward compatibility is HISTORY........You will have to purchase NEW($$$$$$) software even the reliable Microsoft software from the past. Big Brother will be watching every step you take on your PC and the internet. New Computers will have the newest Pentium Chip that is spyware embedded. No files from older computers will work on Longhorn. Your documents can't be read on the file format. No more FAT 16/32/NT. Many will be stranded. THe upgrade will cost you not only $$$ but so will for ALL the new software for other aaapps (Quicken/Symantic/Roxio/etc.) Get ready to dish out A LOT OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
