  1. thanks for all the suggestions, not too long ago, and only a few weeks after installing XP I had problems, lost my cd drives (2) , and fail to shutdown, everything happen after installing some upgrades from microsoft ( the aps support and the update for cdrw). At the moment didn't have a backup, the first thing I tried was system restore and didn't help me at all, no matter what restore point I tried, I'm not saying it's bad, but is something I wouldn't rely to fix any problem. Hope this help someone, if you don't need an upgrade DON'T TAKE IT.
  2. HI, I have a 20GB HD partition into C and D (12 gb & 8 GB), XP is on C (ntfs), D I'm using for games, mp3, and pictures, basically anything I don't really care to backup and that it will take too much space to do. I made a complete backup of C using ghost 2002, the image file broke into two and I'm saving these files on a second HD E:/ (3.1 GB). so far I don't have any problems but in the case that i have to use the ghost backup, how will I use it to recover the ntfs partition if this is not visible under DOS, when i get the prompt my disk D becomes C. so, How can I recover C(ntfs) keeping D(fat 32) if the drives letter changed. Basically my question is : What are the steps to recover XP using ghost??? Thanks in advance..
  3. I tried booting into safe mode but drivers still are not visible.
  4. thanks for that page info, it was very usefull. I think I found the problem, after installing from windows update the patch from microsoft for cdrw or for burning cds, something like that, my two cd drives (CDRW + CDRom) appear with a exclamation mark, wich they didn't have before, I try fixing this by uninstalling both and put the old drivers from the xp cd again, but now I can't see the cd from my computer, in other words I can't use them. after booting windows find the new hardware and install the drivers from de HD, still have the ! mark but now they aren't availables as drives. checking the properties for these cd drives the message i get is: "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)" Please does any1 has any suggestion to this problem. Thanks
  5. Hi every1 Until a few days ago everything was ok, running xp corp.edition, AMD 1.2 ghz, ATI 64mb AGP,20 gig HD, 526 mb RAM,CDRW,ZIP,cable modem. the problems that I'm having are: 1.- the settings for power saving are to turn off monitor after 30 min and HD after 35, this is not happening, after the screen saver kicks in it goes to the welcome screen and never turns off. 2.- if I press the sleep button the comp goes to an state that seems to be sleeping but it won't come back from it, have to restart to gain use. 3.- the power button for some reason now is working as a restart button, to turn off the computer have to go to the back and shutdown the power supply completly. I guess after installing something the registry got change producing these changes to my system, thinking this, I did a rollback 2 days back whe everything was working fine, but didn't work. I know that in this forum there is people who knows very well the windows registry maybe you can help me fix these problems. If anyone can help please post your suggestion. Thanks in advance.
