  3. ok i been thinking about this problem for weeks now....i realised something though..the windows install is perfect..and the batch file for the Office 2003 setup comes up..i can see that the Office is trying to install but then the batch file just closes...and i check to see if anything got installed but nothing..but i found that my folder 'install' has been copied to my C drive..dont know why??so if anyone can help i would be very very very happy and relieved.. EDIT:: ok i been reading i know now that the install folder has to be copied to the C: drive making it the source of instalation...but then why wouldnt the OFFICE2003 setup work??..
  4. Hey you guys noobie here. well im in the process putting together Windows Xp PRO and Office 2003 Pro in a dvd. I thought i got it all figured out but something weird happens. First of all i followed the advance installation found here Advance installation and i did every step. And i already know my Windows Xp folder is all good to go becuase i installed Xp on my other computer and everything went very well. Just wanted to install XP and Office 2003 at the same time. So this is wat happens. I pop in the cd before boot and i run from the DVD i made. everything goes well. After Windows Xp sucessfully installs it ask for the admin password. So i type it in and right when windows loads up i can see the batch file i created for Office starts to run. Which is a good sign. But after like 10 sec the batch file just closes. I thought it was all done so i checked to see if Office was on the coputer. but i got nothing. Any ideas?? heres some stuff that might help this is where i put all my Office 2003 files: C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\install\Applications\Office2003 this is where i put the batch file named start.cmd C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\install and this is wat the start.cmd looks like: CLS @echo off TITLE Windows XP SP2 with Office 2003 ECHO. ECHO Over the next few minutes you will see automated installations ECHO of Office 2003 Pro. The computer will restart automatically ECHO once the whole process has finished! ECHO. ECHO Installing Office 2003 Professional ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb- Exit And this is what my WINNT.SIF looks like located at C:\XPCD\I386 : ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS UnattendSwitch="yes" WaitForReboot="No" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore KeyboardLayout="US" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=XXXX EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1 DetachedProgram=autoit3.exe Arguments="%systemroot%\System32\Drivers.au3" [userData] ProductKey=XXXX FullName="Joshe" OrgName="" ComputerName=Toaster [identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off zonegames=off [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\start.cmd
  5. well before putting Office 2003 into my unattended WinXP i learned that i have to slipstream it. so i tried the steps and i failed at step one Step 1: Perform an administrative installation Do NOT just copy your CD to your HD! Doing so will cause the setup files to grow to more than 900mb, and you will not be able to burn them to CD. Instead, use the following steps: 1. Insert the Office System (2003) CD into your drive, from the "Start" button select "Run" and type x:\setup.exe /a Lamer Note: X: is the physical drive your CD drive is assigned. Notice there is a space between the "setup.exe" and the "/". This is going to start the install process of Office 2003. You'll be presented with the option of where you want the files to go (I chose "G:\Office2003"), and you'll be asked to enter your CD key. does that mean i cant slipstream Office at all?? because from the files in my cd i dontr have the setup.exe and i know thats from the slipstream process..im such a noob but im trying to learn bare with me guys...hahah..
  6. thanks for your help and yes thats wat my final window looked like..i was reading more into slipstreaming the OFFICE 2003 and i came to this: Office 2003 - Slipstreaming This page will outline instructions for slipstreaming Service Packs and Updates into Office 2003. » Section 1 - Creating an Administrative Installation Point From the Office Resource Kit site: Only editions of Office 2003 acquired through a Volume License agreement or other non-retail channel allow you to create an administrative installation point. You cannot run Setup.exe in administrative mode ( /a ) with an Office 2003 retail edition. If you cannot make an Administrative Installation Point, you will not be able to slipstream the latest updates into it. i have the retail verision..does that mean i cannot slipstream it??? Or can i just follow the site you gave me http://www.petri.co.il/office_system_2003_...ipstreaming.htm thanks again for all your help
  7. ok so i been searching and reading that a lot of people had the same problem as me..maybe theres something im not understanding..ill shall do more research ..wish me luck you guys
  8. so i guess the main question to all this is what is the setup.exe in the directions: » Section 2 - The Office 2003 Batch Command As you read at the end of the last section, we needed to change the path in the TRANSFORM syntax in order for it to work. Below are the full batch commands you can use, so add these lines to your batch file: ECHO. ECHO Installing Office 2003 Professional ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb- how can i create it or find it?? becuase its not in my directory of all my OFFICE2003 files: C:\XP_OFFICE\$OEM$\$1\install\Applications\Office2003 help anyone??
  9. i finally got my cd to work with Windows XP and my drivers. So i wanted to go ahead and try to put OFFICE 2003 also. It wouldnt fit in a regular CD so i burned the whole ISO file on a dvd. Everything works fine untill i type in my password and go into windows. i did everything in the Office 2003 Unattended - Advanced method and i did all the steps. so when i got to the end it says i needed to paste: ECHO. ECHO Installing Office 2003 Professional ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb- in a batch file so i created one and named it start.cmd it looks like this: CLS @echo off TITLE Windows XP SP2 - Unattended Installation ECHO. ECHO Over the next few minutes you will see automated installations ECHO of various sofware applications, windows updates, and registry ECHO tweaks being implemented. The computer will restart automatically ECHO once the whole process has finished! ECHO. ECHO Installing Office 2003 Professional ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb- Exit i wanted to just try adding OFFICE 2003 before i add any other programs or tweaks (build a little ,test a little) and i placed the start.cmd in this directory: C:\XP_OFFICE\$OEM$\$1\install so i made an image file and burned it to a DVD, restarted windows and ran the DVD. Everything works like a charm. Everything works fine. But when i get untill windows after i type in my password i can see the batch filethat i created (start.cmd) running but after like 2 sec it says it cant find setup.exe??...so i checked all the files in the OFFICE 2003 folder and i couldnt find one. But the thing is i copied everything directly from my OFFICE CD..any idea??
  10. ok i got it to work using the autoit method..finally and thanks for the product key warning..im kinda tired from all this..lol...you can a lot by just reading..i shall take this as a future notice..thanks everyone
  11. Well heres the deal i was able to do everything in the beginner users tab and i was able to install a fresh copy of XP pro heres what my WINNT.SIF file looks like: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS UnattendSwitch="yes" WaitForReboot="No" KeyboardLayout="US" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=49a8f40f1a8444ab95b909e7668e47e680b5ae70d1bc191b77f247ed1e24a2e9 EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1 [userData] ProductKey=XX FullName="JOshe" OrgName="" ComputerName=Toaster [identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off zonegames=off as you can see i didnt do anything special very simple stuff. But heres where the problem come in to play. I wanted to take the next step and try putting all of my drivers in the cd also. i read and followed everything there was in the section 'Drivers via CD' and im pretty sure i did everything correctly. if i had to guess where i messed up it would probably be in this part: [Making Changes to presetup.cmd * Open presetup.cmd in Notepad * Scroll down to the lines containing SetDevicePath.exe and correct the path. Change \Drivers to where you saved the files on in your source and the parameter ( %CDROM%\Drivers ) to where you saved all your driver files. Also correct the path in the line directly below it as well.] this is wat i did before: %CDDRIVE%\Drivers\SetDevicePath.exe %CDDRIVE%\Drivers start %CDDRIVE%\Drivers\WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe after: C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\drivers\SetDevicePath.exe C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\drivers start C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\drivers\WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe did i do this right??? so i tested the disk and everything was going great untill a error popped up in the middle of coping files setuporb.exe not found (i think thats wat it was called) and also setep.exe so i wasnt able to complete the install..so if anyone of you guys have an idea plz reply..thanks you guys... EDIT: sorry im a noobie i didnt see the driver section in the forum this post should be in there...sorry you guys
