  1. Hi folks I'm attempting to create an unattended installation of Windows XP. The version of Windows XP which I have is Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade (ie: need proof of having previous valid operating system). Normally, when I reinstall Windows, it recognises that XP is already installed on the hard drive and happily goes about itself formatting the required partition and installing. After following the beginner stage from the unattended tutorial on this website, I created my ISO image and used Virtual PC to have a play with it. Unfortunately, I can't get passed the stage where XP wants proof of previous installation. I know I have my Windows 98 CD around the house somewhere, it's just where. Is it possible to get passed this stage by directing the setup to my hard drive? During the setup of Virtual PC, I chose to create a Virtual hard drive. I would assume that if the setup was ran properly (ie: not through Virtual PC), I would have no problems in getting the setup to recognise that XP is already installed therefore having no need to turn the house upside down to find the 98 CD. Any light that you can shed on this issue would be much appreciated. Kind regards Stu
