Alright, so I have had a diamond viper v330 in a pc for a while now(for those who don't know, it's a 100 mhz clocked riva 128) and using it under windows 98. it worked fine. uder dxdiag, directdraw, direct3d, and agp texture acceleration.(same thing with a motherboard that has an integrated riva 128 zx) Anyways, I had to upgrade the computer to xp many things I use it for are supporting 98 fewer and fewer. I tried using a few 3d apps and they didnt work. so I checked dxdiag and both direct3d and agp acceleration were disabled. I couldn't enable them on either video thing. So i did a web search and for the first 200 or so pages on google I got no answer (as I see the other people on other forums never got an answer wonder if they solved their problem) I tried upgrading my driver but on both nvidia's site and diamond's site, the latest ones were for 98 and were included in 2000. please, somone if anyone, knows what the problem is? thanks in advance

Microsoft Exchange(Or Windows Messaging), and Microsoft Fax from Windows 95 fully work under 98se to my knowledge.

One easy way of installing optional components that I know of is: 1)use 7-zip or your any archiver that will extract cab files(or just extract.exe, it comes with windows and setup) 2)extract precopy1.cab and precopy2.cab to one folder (such as precopy) 3)In the windows setup tab click have disk, navigate to the precopy folder 4) choose any .inf, windows will look through all and list the components to install then you just choose files as normal.

I recently installed xpize and now I want to uninstall it because its causing troubles for my computer. so I went to uninstall it but I got the BSOD right before clicking uninstall (how convenient ) So I reload and it freezes. and stays that way for the next 20 reboots over the few days.so now I have that HDD in my win 98 (luckily I kept it in fat32) and I want to uninstall it from 98 here but I dont know exactly what im suppose to do.

Is the pc networked? put the files in a shared folder on a different computer and copy them to the cd rom less computer. I would suggest windows 2000 xp would slow the computer to a grinding halt just about. Im not saying ME is crap because it has good points but I strongly advise against it.

I used windows blinds I got object desktop 2002 as a gift back around when XP came out but then I stopped using it when My machine crashed (should have never installed windows ME ) I don't see why you would have a problem using it with 385 MB ram Being as I only had 48 MB back then on a 500 mhz celeron you have t use an old version because the latest and greatest just dosen't support windows 98

Yeah this use to happen to me but then I figured it out. since your using the old Revolutions pack You MUST have your latest video card drivers installed and it MUST support 32-bit color. If you install 32-bit support without the proper video card drivers it will mess up your system- all your icons will be 16 or 256 color. that's what the hardware test button in the bottom corner is for. to make sure that your card supports it. But the better option is to download RP lite 5 with the new lame skin preview so You can have an xp like skin but it might not work as it's not final but keep watching as the project is going pretty fast.

I was reading various penny sized win98 installations (nano98, 98lite) and I figuered, why go through the trouble getting the 95 files when you can use progman.exe? it works to my test though I only gotten down to 6 MB, which, is still pretty good. I decided to do a web search on progman but found no one has any interest in it what so ever! I mean, it can't be that bad! I would use it over explorer any day! So Im deciding to make it more "windows 98 friendly", but I ran into a few problems. being that you can't make shortcuts I have to take an explorer link and "start in" the various dirs but I can't figure out the important ones! The ones I'm missing are: Network Neiborhood Control Panel Dial Up Networking and Scheduled Tasks. also if anyone knew how to shrink vmm32.dll being that it takes up one floppy itself. Would I be able to use the 98 fe if its smaller, or for that matter, 95 (a b or c)? also this filelist, is all of the empty dirs really necessary? Im sure ill find out myself but it wouldn't hurt to ask. It's just a shame I can't use things like RP lite with it

just a comparison, how much space does mac os x take? theres really no reason for it to be so huge im gonna have to stop splitting partitions at 10 GB

Direct x was written along side with the win32 code i think... to help with game programming. back then it wasnt as important and therefore wasn't included with windows 95. but since so many things use it now (such as media player) it has been integrated into windows. i think you should upgrade because the new updates contain new api codes and can increase performance and reliability. just reading wiki you can find out so much like directshow was the sucessor to video for windows

yeah im just going to reinstall windows me setup never really finished correctly anyway at the third restart it said setupx.dll not found and just went to the desktop strange

Im looking for a tool or program that someone can recommend to me to image my hard drive for worst case scenarios onto a cd and is able to restore it to hdd disk after a format. you know right? just being prepared for the worst of what could happen.

think like microsoft, what would they have added? sure thecumilatives and the updates but extras like some simple control panel thing that can chang webviews (there has been 5 different versions,wow)maybe that would be 4.0 you could add some windows 2000 looks and names(control panel applets had new names) I dont know probably call it 2.5 save the even numbers for exciting WOW things

how do i get it to work in 98?

MSD properly detects it is ps2 and 3 buttons but it still wont work with microsoft mouse software HELP!

i have this problem with all windows, but i currentl am using 3.1 so ill post here. i have a microsoft ps2 intellimouse and a QDI titanium IB+ mobo and a converter for my com1 port. i also have com2 port to use but... the problem is that no matter what driver i use the mouse won work, but the mouse works fine on other systems. i also replaced the com port annd tried com2 (old ribbon cable style port) any help?
