  1. Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Notebook's Modem. The modem was manufactured by Agere and those guys seem to have major trouble with there drivers. I need to run a setup routine which takes about 5 minutes to complete and then I need to go to the device manager and select the driver manually from the driver's list. Windows then always tells me, that it might be that the driver was not especially written for this hardware, but the driver will install and the modem works perfectly fine afterwards. Does anyone of you have some sort of idea how I can force Windows to use that driver. I would prefer an unattended method and AutoIT will be my final solution!! Nephilim
  2. Hi everyone, I am not quite sure, if this is the right place to ask I must appologize. I have trouble to get XP-AntiSpy 3.81 to set it's parameters by command line. I tried but it wouldn't work with all of the options. I tried to google up a solution, but I haven't found anything. Trying to find a solution at the official homepage has lead to nowhere either. I tried version 3.72 and it worked quite well, but with 3.81 I have those descripted problems. Does anybody have a list parameters one can use? I appreciate any help, Nephilim P.S.: Just noticed that the thread's headline is quite missleading. Sorry for that.
  3. --- REMOVED --- As nobody asked for any features I will now officially declare XPES an unsupported product. I will therefore remove the tool from the webserver. For those of you who would like to get in contact with me in the future PLEASE use the MSFN eMail feature as I am not that much around at the forums anymore. Nephilim P.S.: XPES, requiescat in pace.
  4. oops, I completely forgot about that! Well I removed the first thread. Thanks for the help and advice Screemer. In the future I will be more careful on what I ask, promised!! TOPIC'S CLOSED!
  5. REMOVED FOR COPYRIGHT REASONS --- SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE FOLKS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN!!!
  6. Hi Dave, I am not quite sure if I understood the question, but if you would like to change the path to the "My Videos" folder than I'ld suggest using Tweak UI which is part of the Microsoft's unsupported Powertoys for Windows XP collection. If you need the registry keys you should either use a registry monitoring program like RegShot or do a search. I am not familiar with Windows XP Media Center Edition, but I don't think they changed this in MCE! Hope I could help, Nephilim
  7. Well atleast kind of, Jono ;-) Yes I definately have enough of both of them and it worked perfectly fine before I reinsalled my Windows. To be honest I already tried the "registry way". I extracted the entries from my desktop PC and applied them on my notebook. Long story short: IT WORKS! If anyone is in need of help on how to get the registry data, just send me a message! Thanks again to Jono.
  8. Hi everyone, today I am back with a different problem ;-) I would like to activate the "Hibernate" option at the "Energy Settings" option. The Problem I have, is that everytime I want to turn it on I get an error message telling me, that it is not possible to create the (necessary) file (hibernate.sys). I tried to defrag, I killed every unnecesary process, the only thing I haven't tried yet is to go the "registry-way" by pasting the necessary reg key into the registry. I actually would like to avoid that and I have my doubts that it will work, as this won't create any file. Does anybody know what to do (besides reinstallin my Windows XP)? Thanks in advance, Nephilim
  9. Nevermind, I solved the problem. My Smartcard Reader needed a different driver version! Topic closed!!
  10. Okay, I just reinstalled my Notebook (Acer Travelmate 801), but after installing every driver I could possibly find I still have an unknown entry. One problem is that I am using a german Windows XP and I don't know what the entry's name would be in english, but the literal translation would be "basic system device" (in german: Basissystemgerät). Getting a little help from a close friend of mine named google ;-) I found out that I need to reinstall the chipset driver which is kind of odd as I only installed it like a trillion times. I am completely lost here, is there anyone who could help me? Thanks in advance, Nephilim
  11. Thanks medhunter, it appears that I am too stupid for search engines. I never find what I am looking for.
  12. Well, were do I start? First of all I think I need to tell you that I am totally addicted to good(!) music. The problem with that is my archive with nearly 1000 CDs too much to handle for my brain. This is why I would like to use a program for that. My questions is the following: Does anybody know any good, easy to use database program that doesn't contain too much features (date of purchase is something I consider a not-needed-feature) and might even be freeware. Features I absolutely need are: CDDB/freeDB support search by artist (whole DB) search by title (whole DB) lent function Features I absolutely do not need: CD copying functionality lyriks support MP3/WMA/OGG/APE support CD ripping features (usually comes with MP3 support) Features I would appreciate: picture support (so that I can download a "thumbnail") a scan-functionality (for the above) Thanks in advance, Nephilim
  13. Hi Jopster I removed the timer and uploaded a "Timer Free"-Version of XPES here: XP-ES (Timer Free) It's a self extracting RAR with all needed files in it! Have fun with it.
  14. Well, well I seem to have f***** up this time. Sorry again for that Paul. Hope we were able to settle this off the forum the other day. Now back to work for me.
  15. hey paul your program looks nice, but I think general structure your config file is a little tough to understand? Is there a chance you might change that?
  16. The number will be created during the windows setup and is unique. That's strange I had no problem using it after a new installation. I will take a look at it and will release a fixed version! Promised!! EDIT: I just found out that the SID at the registry is nothing but a pointer to HKEY_CURRENT_USER which means, that I will able to change the tool as soon as I get back home from work!
  17. Okay it's beta again XP-ES v0.9 b11 Things I tried to change: - New version of the timer (Hope it works) - Fixed - Select All & Unselect All had no influence on the checkboxes (xpAntiSpy, MultiCD) @Paul: I wasn't aware of the fact that I gave you my sources? You helped me once and for that I am thankfull, BUT there are a lot of other users such as webmedic, bor3d or aaronxp who helped me either. I am, not yet, intending to hand out my sources, as I don't think they are worth to be spread. Again, thank you for your help and I took notice of your interest, but currently you ain't part of the development. Hard words I know, but I felt a little offended by your post and the "we" and "us" in it!!
  18. Hey Paul, be honest with us: You only want to laugh your a** of seeing my source code To all of you BUG-REPORTERS: Thank you!! I will try to finish the tool. Just keep posting, even if I do not answer. I will read it and try to solve it!!!
  19. AntiSpy: - I'll fix that problem with the creation of the .reg file - xpAntiSpy actually applies nearly all settings to the SID area of the registry which is why this is no mistake. empty batches: That's "MS-Style": It's not a bug, it's a feature! I thought it would be best to implement a call up for both batches to the winnt.sif as you never now if you are dealing with a system that requires those drivers or not. If you ain't dealing with it you only see a blank batch appear for about a millisecond. But when the batch doesn't exist you get an error message which needs a user's action to dissapear. (I hope this was understandable) What do you want me to do? Do you want a "unattanded switches" database for all applications that are currently available, so that you don't need to do anything? That ain't possible!! The tool isn't meant for single desktop environments where you only need a default set of applications. It's meant for eg small companies where you have a lot of systems with different applications running or for those people with more than one home pc. BTW the settings.ini is meant as an example, not "as is"! Nephilim
  20. Okay, as noone seems to have any troubles with my tool I will now officially declare the project's status as "Finished" and any further development as "Stopped". I hope that all of you are satisfied with the tool the way it is, cause as I mentioned earlier. There won't be any future versions!!! Thanks to Paul for his help with and especially to Budster for his initial thoughts and concepts. That's all folks, Nephilim
  21. well that's strange, half a day later and about 150 views later and there no comment, no bugs, no nothing? Come on guys, I cannot imagine that my tool is bug-free!! Edit: Well Paul, it's a pretty clumsy programmed timer, nothing more than a simple do ... loop function. That's why the tool uses 100% CPU-Time in the first place. But as I said at a different thread: I am not that much of a coder!
  22. It was a hard days work, but by now I think I can release the RC1 version of XP-ES! I added the MSCOMCTL.OCX to the zip file so you don't need to copy it. Just leave it at the apps' path, that should do fine. There you go folks: XP-ES 0.9b10 And remember to report bugs AND to read the readme.txt
  23. Well I am back, and I have one thing to tell you guys: Even though german is my first language, I didn't understand one word of what those swiss people were talking about. Anyways I had no time at all to continue programming the xp-es tool. But I will try to finish it by the end of next week. But still there are some things left to be said: First of all, by boss asked me for several hours of overtime during the upcoming weeks, which is why there will be a V1.0 and that's all. If there is anyone who would like to have my clumsy programmed source code, just PM me and you might actually get it. Second of all I noticed just today that the "Time Machine" uses 100% of the CPUs power. As this is because of the pretty ugly implemented time-to-wait function, this might(!) change in the near future. Last, but not least, thanks to all of your for you support and your help. It was fun as long as is lasted. Greetz, Nephilim P.S.: **** I'm tired now. 40h of general work plus 35h of overtime. Not to mention any breaks for lunch and stuff. So please excuse and harsh words or misspellings.
  24. Yeah, that should do. Thanks for the help Paul. I'll be off for round about one week now. Please post any bugs, problems or suggestions I will read them all when I am back. I am taking my Notebook with me. If have enough spare time I will develop an INF install Version onto of the Batch-Creating. The plan is, that you may choose between them. But don't expect too much I might have not enough time to code that much. Thanks to everyone for your help and see you next week.
