CrescendoBEAt replied to Ariston's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
first what do u mean that clients have diffr time format? every computer have it's own time format and when u use Network Time Protocol, they get time from server. so are u use NTP? if yes check it's configuration. -

hi everybody, i looking for a accounting software which can keep thedatabase of the users, authenticate them and keep track of their activities. like those that used in ISPs. please tell that it's free or not and where is in use. cuz u know as far as i know, in every country, ISPs use a diffrent software for many type of services. thanks guys... p.s. i mean the software seperate from official AAA softwares like AD in Microsoft or NIS in Linux. something like third-party software for big ISP or cafe-net.

hi, i never thinked to do something like this, but try this maybe sole it. i'll test in my test server too later. try to assign a read-only premission to the folder and disable the inheritance feature and then assing premission to the folders inside it seperatly. by the way dig up the advanced premission may be u can find something useful on it.

hi, probably ur problem is with metrics. when you use router, you have to specify how mnay metric (hop) you WS is away from other. [router betweens]. try to increase the metric from Advanced box in TCP/IP prop-. by the way check for any possible firewall or IPSec filter too.

Best strategy to install DNS and AD
CrescendoBEAt replied to CrescendoBEAt's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Hi Martin, thanks for ur answer, can u tell me which version of UNIX u use? and any other idea for Microsoft-based network? -
hi, u have 2 option to do: 1st : boot from ur WinCD and when in blue screen of loading the windows components, press R to go to the recovery console and then type "fixmbr"; this command which is recovery console command will fix ur MBR again. 2nd : in RUN type C:\boot.ini and this will open the boot.ini file; then check for something like this: [boot loader] timeout=10 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Standard" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect in the 3rd line, change the partition(1) value to the desire OS from line below.

Hello everybody, There are 2 important server role in Microsoft-based networks; AD (Active Directory) and DNS. If you always wanted to install them together on one server, there is no need for any necessary configure on DNS server because the DNS is installed during AD installation and any necessary setting for SOA RR and LDAP and other is configured automatically. But how about to configure them separately? Now my question is here; Are you first install and configure DNS and then AD on the network or reverse? [Actually in 2 separate servers; one for DNS and one for AD] Here I want to discuss about this and please anyone who ever had the experience on this case, write here what he/she did and what was the result? P.S. I said these cause when u try to install AD with it's wizard [dcpromo in Run], there is a page that check for DNS in domain [sOA Query] which if couldn't be successful, it recommend to install and configure DNS on the same server automatically; and it's a little hard to configure complete SOA, LDAP and other necessary protocols in DNS manually. So many people prefer to install them together. So here I want to you’re your solution for this case. _________________________________________________ THANKS OF ALL THE PEOPLE HOW SHARE THEIR OPINIONS

Group Policy Object creating error
CrescendoBEAt replied to panha_chea's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
hi this is the final steps that u can do, if these doesn't solved ur problem u should change the Windows Server. Check the Security tab of the OU and check for any necessary configure; then be sure that the admin account be the member of "Group Policy Creator Owners" and this group itself be a member of "Administrators" security group. by the way for any question u can call Microsoft Support Center and they answer u; if u wanted the last option is this. Converting software mirror into hardware mirror
CrescendoBEAt replied to Noid's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
importante is u shouldn't copy the data to the 2nd disk. let the controller to that with it's process. config it on its driver or with jumper settings. -
Group Policy Object creating error
CrescendoBEAt replied to panha_chea's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
oh i think u have a big problem in ur network!!! as u know, troubleshooting the network problems like this are very complicated and actually there are many possible things that can cause these errors; u should think carefully; which setting u changed in other related services? do u have IIS and are change the settings in IE that can alert u for security pages? by the way cause u change the administrator account name, may be this be problem. try to back it to Administrator {default] and then test for examin the problems; may be they solve. by the way keep in mind that u shouldn't rename the administrator account after configuration of server critical services like IIS or other. -
Converting software mirror into hardware mirror
CrescendoBEAt replied to Noid's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
hi first the mirror always allow to boot from RAID 1, so if u config everything, shouldn't face a problem, but so said u copy one disk to another manually? if u did it, u should let RAID do that. by the way check the guide of the RAID controller. it should work if u update the driver. -

Few questions about first-time Win2k3 installation
CrescendoBEAt replied to Hamins's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
WOW!!! u have so in deep questions!!! u need study MCSE for answers!! hi, first review the Windows server 2003 checklist on it's Help & Support center. then pey attention which is better to seperate the servers, cuz for example the DC(domain controller) and DHCP shouldn't place on same server for security issues. if u have budget limit, try to use 2 server, one for DC and DNS and 2ed for DHCP and File server and other roles. >> by the way the advise of klasika is great, always try to back up ur data. and about the security just aplly NTFS premissions for file,[this is the best restrictions for file access] and use default security group policy of DC for computers on the domain. -
hi, 3 things can cause this problem: Windows CD, damage HD or installation process [<= the last case usually happen]. did u ever test ur windows CD on another system? if yes and the windows works well so the problem is not with CD; if not try to test it on another system before any other operation. if the problem is not with CD itself, try to format the HD and install windows again. u should consider that the problem appears when u installed the windows or after installation everything was good and when u installed another software, that damaged ur windows?
