  1. I've had it working by adding the minxp.rar that DigitalFrost posted to my installation source and testing it in Virtual PC. It is strange the way he did it though. Leaves about 217 MB in the system32 folder (ack...). Maybe yours will come out smaller. BTW are you doing regtweaks and inf tweaks to remove crap that is left over from removed components?
  2. Yours works pretty good with a couple of problems though. It asks for WSOCK32.DLL (easily added to the keep list) and you most likely have to use a shell other than explorer unless you keep a bunch of other files like oleaut32.dll, etc.
  3. That's a VERY good idea. That way you won't have any legal problems. I don't think people will get this confused with nLite, but you should probably alter your first post to have a better introduction to what this does and also explain the difference between MinInstall and nLite. Hope Inno doesn't give you any problems. Good luck and just ask if you need any help.
  4. Are you using Inno Setup by chance? I have some experience with it if you need any help.
  5. I didn't know, I apologize. Thank you for clearing that up for me. BTW I am an avid nLite fan. Can't wait til the next release.
  6. What if we added the regs by putting them in HIVEDEF.INF, for instance: HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","ReportBootOk",0x00020000,"0" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","Shell",0x00020000,"" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","VmApplet",0x00020000,"" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","cachedlogonscount",0x00020000,"0" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","forceunlocklogon",0x00010001,1 HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","LogonType",0x00010001,1 HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","Background",0x00020000,"58 110 165" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","SFCDisable",0x00010001,ffffff9d HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Reliability","ShutdownDoStateSnapshot",0x00010001,0
  7. Maybe Aegis will be back later to give us more info.
  8. Good. I felt pretty dumb after reading the thread and still not knowing what the heck is going on.
  9. Aegis, first of all -- this is a great idea. Secondly, I was wondering how exactly can I do this? Using nLite? I read your first post but I really don't understand how you plan to reduce Windows to that size. Is this a post-installation thing or is it done on a source share and burned to a CD? Thanks for your work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you even bothered to read the entire thread? Aegis has made a batch file for this and posted it here. SEARCH!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read the entire thread and I have the batch file. I just don't know how/when to use it. That's why I posted asking questions. How do I use it? Do I use it in RunOnceEx after doing nLite or something? And what do I remove with nLite? Everything?
