  1. Windows2000-KB891861-x86-ENU.EXE /integrate:D:\Temp\2000 replace D:\Temp\2000 with where your W2KSP4 files live If you are going to burn this to an ISO9660 CD you then need to fix the name of the update file and the svcpack.inf as by default it integrates with a long filename e.g. I renamed D:\Temp\2000\I386\Update Rollup 1.exe to D:\Temp\2000\I386\KB891861.exe and modified D:\Temp\2000\I386\svcpack.inf to reflect this change [setupHotfixesToRun] ;Update Rollup 1.exe /q /n /z KB891861.exe /q /n /z I’m going real conservative (while, perhaps, messing around with the MS OEM package). I’m putting together a SP4 disk, and would like to integrate the post SP4 RU v2. I’m using WinISO, so I’ll create an ISO from the original CD, and then replace all the files and folders, and save the ISO. The goal is to slip the RU v2 in there prior to the ISO creation. Going this conservative route, will I run into any problems with the slipped/integrated post SP4 RU v2? Besides the added OEM drivers, I’m not going to alter anything. When I got cute with nLite, I ran into IE problems. When I manually slipped the RU v2, it looked good (I got a success indication), but IE (5.01) was messed up, and updating to IE6 didn’t fix the problem. But, it could have been another issue… I guess the question is this: Given the setup, can the post SP4 RU v2 be slipped into Win2K SP4 (by itself)? I plan to manually slip the RU v2. Do I still need to fix the name of the update file and the svcpack.inf as by default it integrates with a long filename? Thanks

Is it possible to create a standalone, cumulative/fully patched IE6 SP1? I’m interested in an up-to-date, slipstreamed IE6 – something like an unofficial SP2. Tomcat76’s list is: IE6.0sp1-KB823353-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB833989-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB887797-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe oe6.0sp1-KB897715-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB905495-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB905915-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe (replaces KB896688) KBs 823353 and 887797 are Outlook Express updates. If it’s possible to create a standalone updated IE6, I’m assuming the Outlook files could be slipped in? If it’s possible, I would try to nLite it. Thanks
  4. Crusty, many thanks. Gurgelmeyer, I just wanted to check if Media Player 9 is in there - I think so. If so, I think there might be another (Media Patch) KB911565. Also, once you create the slipped folder, can you simply slip the other 4-5 (not including the DX9 patch) patches into the new 5.1 installation? Thanks again, fellas.
  5. Postscript: Many thanks for nLite/to nuhi. I had created a slipstreamed Win2K with SP4 with WinISO. I thought the SP4 would take care of new hardware devices. It did not concerning SATA. My newer box did not have a floppy to F6 the SATA driver during Windows Setup. Since the W2KSP4 Folder wasn't created with nLite, I had reservations about using nLite, so I tried to mannually add the Intel SATA driver. Didn't get it done. nLite worked like a charm. Should have loaded the install disk up with drivers - nLite 1.05b does a fantastic job with drivers (at least for me dealing with Windows 2000). Really looking forward to Gurgelmeyer's SP5a, 5.1 or 6. I also really love Windows 2000. I ripped out XPHE. MS made 2000 too **** good. With Firefox, I plan to use it a very long time. Thanks to the guys who pointed me to nLite.
  6. The SP4 disk I'm using is a slipstreamed disk, but not an nLite disk. Where (what files/folder) does the Windows 2000 Setup draw drivers from? Is it the DRIVER.CAB in I386? If so, is there a program that can be used to add/subtract files from a MS CAB folder. Or, is it an IMG file/folder in the BOOTDISK folder?
  7. Hi all. I am trying to install Windows 2000 on a new Dell with a SATA drive. I'm using a SP4 disk. Windows setup can't find the SATA drive. The Dell chipset is an Intel 925X. I have the latest Intel SATA (iata51_enu) folder, and chipset folder. I do not have a floppy drive, but do have another (2nd) CD ROM available. The Intel SATA folder contains 4 or 5 files that might do the trick during the setup? The Intel Chipset folder has a number of files that might do the job - ich6ide.inf and ich7ide.inf. What is the best way to proceed? Many thanks I've lost my appetite for XPHE.
  8. Hi all. I'm on a Windows 2003 (standard) Server. When I installed it, I did not use a complex/strong password. I would like to change the Administrator password. Can you do it on the fly? I also considered unchecking "Password never expires" under the General Admin Properties within Local Users and Groups - thinking I could change it whenever it expires (in 14 days?). Many thanks. Postscript: OK. I got it. Sorry for taking up DSpace.
  9. Nope! It covers until May. When installed, it still says that there are a dozen updates available. It's like some kind of really, really bad joke. Thanks again. It really is kind of a joke. Glad I saved the May - updates (downloaded executables) for possible slipstreaming. If I understand it correctly, you'll have to pay for support from now until 2010? But no one really needs "free" support. If the goal was to wean folks off of Win2K, I can live with what MS is doing. Especially if they're going to continue to offer patches for some rather long duration. My understanding is that (most, if not all) of what will be offered will be security patches, but not bug patches. Oh, well. SP4 has been rock-solid. At home, I have a Dell that came with XPHE. At work, I use Win2K – and I don’t have any plans to “upgrade” any time soon. Win2K will be around for a while. I also noticed that MS actually labeled it “Rollup 1” – more could be coming. MS has a real dilemma. They're going to have to support it for a while. I can live with that too.
  10. Thanks. I even googled it today and didn't run into it. MS has just offered a number of security patches a couple of weeks prior to the downloadable Rollup release. Does anyone know if any of them (made available in mid-June) are post-rollup updates? MS was "ready to ship" the rollup in early June. A few of the KB June releases may be post-rollup updates?
