  1. Working on some PC's that a local Christian School uses. The kids screw them up every couple of weeks.

Cannot use Deep Freeze or similar as they have programs that write info to the HD all the time.

    XP Pro, 256megs, Celeron 2.4 478pin, 40gig Seagate IDE, CD-ROM, Floppy

Partitioned the hard drive 30gig/10gig. On the 10gig is a partition image of the C: drive.

I want the School "tech" to be able to boot from a CD with Ghost on it and drop the image

on the partition onto the "C: drive". (image is called RESTORE.GHO)

    Using the following command line:

    ghost -clone,mode=pload,src=1:2\restore.gho,dst=1:1 -sure -rb

    I get:

    useage error 10095

No source partition was specified from image.

1:2 is the second partition -- 1:1 is the primary partition.

Pretty sure my syntax is wrong but have used a dozen CD's so far.

    Any ideas work be appreciated.

  2. Agree with everyone. I have several 920n out in the field,

everyone likes them and the price is good.

Your old CRT 19" has a diag. size of 17.6" to 18.0".

LCD's by law have to be the stated size. i.e. 19" diag.

Please bear in mind that LCD's have an "optimal" setiing,

    on the 920n it is 1280 x 1024 dpi.

If set at 800 x 600 it looks like crap.

    Enjoy your new monitor.

    :hello:

  3. The easiest way is to use Nlite. Download and install.

    http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Point it to your folder (c:\xpcd) and ONLY use the create ISO option.

It will automatically add the "boot" section the CD/DVD.

(You may want to look at all the other things it will do,

    i.e. Integrate RyanVM updates etc.)

Use Nero/Roxio or anything that will burn from an ISO.

You should be able to double click the *.ISO file and you burner

    program should auto start.

I use this all the time to do exactly what your trying to do,

create Microsoft bootable CD's and DVD's

    :hello:

  4. Did installs from a DVD with the following:

XP Home & Pro with SP2 (New CD's)

    Nlite R7

    RyanVM 2.04 integrated with Nlite

    Bashrat's drivers integrated

    Problem:

With Home or Pro after installing Xpize 4.2MCE, Defragmenter does not show any drives and only half the menu options at the top work i.e. Help and Options.

I Restore back to the Xpize install point aand everything is back to normal.

Tried several PC's with both Home and Pro SP2 on both, (plus Nlite & Bashrat.)

    Any ideas ??

  5. Sounds like a power supply problem. Is it a name brand i.e. Antec, Thermaltake or some cheap and nasty $19.99 Sunday morning special.

If you are building a unit for a friend or even your sister, spend a little extra and go for Antec etc.

Have had several units recently that have had one or more capacitors bulged at the top in the PS

all causing stutdowns or reboots. When it happened with Suse Linux I knew it was hardware.

    Wish you luck.

    :hello:

  6. A million thanks from all the users of your hard work.

    A feature request:

As you have added extra features in the Beta 2 version and a lot of check boxes,

is it possible to create a "CFG File" to save having to check those items.

If the CFG was in the same folder/drive as the main file that would be perfect.

    Again, thanks

  7. Great work XPero, we all thank you for the endless hours you spent on the project.

If ever I am over in your part of the world I will buy you a beer or several if you want them.

    I do have a question:

Most of the machines I have installed Xpize on have the "Blue X" boot screen but recently several of them boot up with the normal Windows boot screen.

    Any ideas ??

    :hello:

  9. I assume you want to make a DOS boot CD to boot to a Novell network or similar.

Create your BOOTABLE floppy as you want it to work.

In Nero and Roxio there is an option of creating a Bootable CD from a floppy, this is what you want. You only get 1.44 megs. If you have other files the floppy needs you need a generic SYS file in the Config.sys and Mscdex in the Autoexec.bat with a specific drive letter for the CD-ROM. You can load another 690 megs onto the CD section that can be referenced by a drive letter i.e. L: that the Autoexec.bat can call.

I use this method every day to create images on my Novell server. Logs me in and maps my drives. I use the old DOS Config.sys menu system to show 9 Nic's that I can use.

Takes some work to figure it all out, that's what makes it all fun. Use CDR/W's as you will screw up several times.

    Hope this helps

  10. I looked at the specs and was impressed. Does all the things that Outlook does and more.

When I tried to do a download it said it was "unavailable"

I would like to try it but they won't let me. It's nice to praise a product on the forum's but when it's not there for people to try !!!!!!!!
