hi...i'd just like to say that...i'm a newbie and i've been going thru these forum posts for about 4 weeks now and there are pages and pages of posts here i think it will take years to go thru everything i've tryed using the search function and found it to be annoying. what annoys me more is how everyone bags the newbie's just remember YOU were all newbie's once !!

so...if you were to do that and the programs installs as usual, does that mean that there are no switches for that program ??

ohh...the switches didn't work because when it tryed to install , i had to click on the ok button ( so it wouldn't be a unattended install )

hello everybody i have just got a question about the windows/inf folder i have a dial-up modem with a modem.exe file, when i click on it it installs the .inf files to windows/inf...(well thats what it says it's doing.). i've tryed exstracting the .inf files with winrar and then placing them into my drivers\000_modem file on the cd...(and all the other stuff i'm supposed to do) that didn't work iv'e tryed experimenting with switches and running from [GuiRunOnce] that didn't work so i thought what if i compare my windows/inf folder and make a note of the .inf files before and then after i install my modem.exe , copy the added .inf files to $OEM$\$$\inf does anyone know if this would work, or would the install program do more than just add those .inf files. ok bye

hi to all.. hasn't anybody tryed to install stylexp yet i tryed a switch and it installed silently except for the screen that tries to change the current desktop theme to coughdrop...so it's not a complete unattended install i tryed doing a search ...but nothing there ,except my first post on this subject. also while we are on the subject of switches.....i have tryed ,with all my programs i want installed , using the /? switch and the programs install as usual. maybe i'm missing something ? i open the run dialog box....type "winrar.exe /?"...( without the " ) and press enter is that what i'm supposed to do ?? anyway all replies with be very welcome...bye!!

hello everyone i have completed the intermediate section of the guide, and i've got a question in the guide under batch scripting it has a section that says you can use cmdlines.txt to start your batch scripts at t-13 minute stage so.... does that mean that you can have your all the reg tweaks added and install all programs BEFORE and instead of having a [GuiRunOnce ] entry. to me that makes a lot of sence because the computer has to reboot some time after that point....having a [GuiRunOnce ] entry means you have 2 reboots instead of 1. is this true or am i just making this up as i go along ???

ohh...i thought that because it contains reg values it was different. so all i have to do is replace the %systemdrive% to %cdrom% and it will work.

i was reading the expert section of the msfn guide ,and it says you can install your programs from the cd instead of copying them to the hard drive. the methods used are runonceex from cd windows post installer windows installation helper utility xplode But...what if you are using batchfiles can it still be done or do i have to start using runonceex again (i've tryed using runonceex before and didn't like it much) i hope someone can help.

hi everyone i have a idea that is probably stupid but... is it possible to extract all the files in the driver.cab from the xp cd, then add our own driver files, then comprees them back and replace our new driver.cab with the original driver.cab

it's the AC97 audio driver...it's intergrated on my gigabyte mother board

hello everyone does anyone know how to find out the correct paths to all the shortcuts in the start menu... and things like removing the "MY DOCUMENTS"..."MY PICTURES"..."MY RECENT DOCS". i usually remove most of the stuff in the start menu, and it gets quite annoying.

hi... i was trying to add style xp to my unnatended cd i worked out to use the /S switch in my RunOnceEx it does install in the background , until it gets to the screen where it asks to apply the coughdrop theme. at that point you have to click either yes/no, so it's not really an unnatned install if any one knows how to fix this i would be very grateful. also if all the applications i install don't need to reboot afterwards, does that mean that in the cleanup.cmd ....i can delete the ""shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 1 minute...""" line ??

i'm new to this site and making an unnatended install, so i may have missed somethiing here....BUT how do you extract the drivers from a cd... i'm trying to get one for my sound card. when i look in the cd under audio ,there are four folder ,and 19 files 4 are applications 2 are data cab files a couple of setup applications there is 1 saying setup.iss it's all very confusing....do i copy all files and folders to my \install\drivers\000_sound or do i serch for all .inf files and copy them into my \install\drivers\000_sound or do i install my audio and then serch in the windows\system32 file and copy all the .inf sound files to my \install\drivers\000_sound if any one has any ideas i would be very grateful...thanks
