  1. Hi i have the CD of Windows XP Pro,

if i will add the the cd the "Answer File",

    Is it work?

I am only want to install my xp with out any questions...

It will be windows setup + Answer File.

    Thanks,

    holyone.

 The winnt.sif should be placed in i386 directory

actually unattend.txt is renamed to winnt.sif . Other thing [GuiRunOnce]

this section tells windows xp to run commands after setup is finished

to create both of these one must have Windows Deployment tools >

Setupmgr.exe must be extracted from the cab file :)

  2. It appears that my Windows Installer may be corrupt.

    Issues I'm having:

Uninstall not locating the uninstall log

Problems updating Office 2003 and cannot do a repair of.

How can I replace the Windows Installer? (note: I have tried a Win XP SP1a slipstreamed repair)

Should I have the windows file protection disabled during unregistering/renaming of the windows installer files and where can I obtain the original/new files?

    Thanks.

windows installer files are in %systemroot%\windows\system32

    > msiexec.exe

    >msi.dll

no need to replace these files . just pop your office2003 cdrom in the cd-drive and run setup again when steup starts . Select repair option from the setup menu

  3. Why can't I delete it????

    erase.jpg

    ----------------------------

    EDIT

    --------------------------

It appears the whole computer has a problem with recognizing a particular file:

    erase2.jpg

please go in the safe mode by prressing f8 key before the boot of windows and delete the file

c:\pagefile.sys > help for swaping data between hardisk and memory generally we call it virtual memory.

c:\hiberfile.sys stands for hibernation (sleepmode) if you have selected hibernation from the power options in control panel

hibernation takes hadrdisk space about same size of memory

i.e if memeory is 512kb then 512mb of space will be allocated in harddisk for hibernation . other thing is that one CMOS battery should also support it.

  4. hi I wanted to make a Unattended Windows 2000 pro cd.. I have made Unattended Xp cd and wanted to know if I could use the same method to make the win2kpro cd? Or maybe some one could give me a link on how to make an Unattended win2k pro cd.

This is what I have done so far...

I've created a win2k at the root of my drive and the folders under it ....

    c:\

    win2k

    win2k\i386

    win2k\$oem$\$1

    win2k\$oem$\$$

    win2k\$oem$\$docs

    win2k\$oem$\$progs

I've copy the i386 folder from cd to win2k\i386 and added the winnt.sif I made with setupmgr from the win2kpro cd.  I created the image and boot with Virtual PC and I get an error Insert Sp4 in a:/.  Can some one post what a winnt.sif should look like for windows 2000 pro ,I would really appriciate it . thanks

    dd

  6. Lately i have been having trouble with Windows XP professional on my computer.  I use XP to do image editing and manipulation and college work and chat on MSN and browse the net.

Lately though when i seem to be doing any of those or nothing at all, the computer starts to jag like hell.

When Im on the intnernet (dial up) on for more then 2 hours, it starts freezing up and the internet crashes, not only that my desktop completly freezes.

I dunno whether its  Memory issue or a hard drive issue. I was hoping someone could tell me what i should do?

Just so you know i run Xp on my 60G had drive, and i have a 10G hard drive which was originally going to be for linux but ill be using that for documents and web sites and stuff.

Any clue on what i should do? As my computer is really getting on my nerves... :)

    1) first of all you must install latest update i.e windows xp serviced pack 1

    2) secondly remove the nasty and system resource wasteful efffects of windows xp

by this start > settings > control panel > system <> advanced tab you shall locate three buttons .

    3) Locate the performance heading dialog box click on that button , select effects

performance options > select adjust my computer for best performance.

    4) finallly run windows update.

  8. Is there a way to make an XP CD?? I know that there is but I have had trouble finding the right way to do it. I'm trying to create a new XP CD because my version is old and it doesn't have the new drivers and updates for my machine, so it takes me longer to reinstall everything right.

    dear all ,

The guide to windows xp sp1 bootable cd

    requirements

    1) Windows Xp Setup files i386 directory copy it to particular drive say c:\i386 before that create a folder called wxp here is the finall process c:\wxp\i386

    2) catch hold of windows xp service pack 1a and extract file and slipstream it to installation file C:\XP_SP1a.exe /X /U:c:\wxp.

3)A dialog box will pop-up and show the progress report.

    4) Now browse the c:\wxp directory we shall find new files.

    a) SPNotes.htm -> service pack installation

b)WINIP.sp1 (something like that with .SP1 extension at last) ** very important dont' delete this tells that windows that it is SP1 slipstreamed file with i386

    5) Now browse www.betaplace.co.uk and download the bootable image for Windows XP

    6) take note of these files finally to create cd.

    i386-> windows installation files.

AUTORUN.INF & setup.exe -> autorun for setup if installed in win mode.

    WIN51->identifier for windows

    WIN51IP -> BOOTABLE IMAGE HELPER

WIN51IP.SP1 ->identifer for Service pack 1 splistreamed with installation files

7)Finally to create bootable cd using Nero burning rom use 07C0

and use sector count as 4 . If we use 0000 insteas of 07C0 the cd would'nt boot.

    8) Coming to CD label here is the list.

    i) Windows XP Professional (SP1a) Retail X1APFPP_EN

    ii)Windows XP Home (SP1a) Retail X1AHFPP_EN

    iii)Windows XP Professional (SP1a) OEM X1APOEM_EN

    iv)Windows XP Home (SP1a) OEM X1AHOEM_EN

    v) Windows XP Professional (SP1a) (VLK)(Corporate) X1APVOL_EN

    vi)Windows XP Home (SP1a) (VLK)(Corporate) X1AHVOL_EN

    vii)Windows XP Professional (SP1a) Upgrade X1APCCP_EN

    viii)Windows XP Home (SP1a) Upgrade X1AHCCP_EN

I get it when the computer is idle for more than 10 min.

ps. I'm not sure, but I think this screen started to appear when I instaled Remotely Anywhere!

    select saver to none.

  10. Morning all,

Having an issue with the unnattended install being called from a batch file.

When the start/wait setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unsttended.MST /qb- is called from a batch file it starts to install then quits about 10 seconds later. If i go to a command prompt in the directory and manually type the above command string then all works fine.  Any ideas?

    Thx

    :)

    hello,

You have used start/wait setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unsttended.MST /qb- . I think there one mistake there one setup.exe which is belongs to windows. you should have give start wait <CD-ROM > driver letter where office setup files are situated example

    start /wait e:\Office\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unsttended.MST /qb-

Other for RunOnceEx.cmd msfn has give exmaples to use DetectCD.exe please visit updated http://unattend.msfn.org again
