  1. OK I like WPI alot! Setup was easy and if I get it to work it will be a great addition to my unattended setup. The key is getting it to work. I am installing Windows 2000 Professional over the network. I start with a network bootdisk that allows me to connect to the network and start winnt.exe. The setup copies down the files to the HD and starts the install. WPI gets copied to a the folder C:\Install on the HD and starts there from [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\HotFix.bat %systemdrive%\install\Wpi\wpi.cmd The problem is that when it first starts up I get a blank white screen and a dialog box that says "undefined" with an OK button. When I click that I get another dialog box that says. Java Script error Report message undefined is not an object Url:file://C:\Install\wpi\wpi.hta file:main.js Line:403 I opened main.js in notepad and line 403 was finally { tf.close( );} When I click on the OK button on the dialog box it just hangs. I have to use taskmanager to close it. Anybody have a clue as to what is happening? I really like WPI and want to use it but java code is beyond me right now and I would like to get this to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need to see any more code to form an answer just let me know and I will post it. Help CJesson
  2. Oh Bilou_Gateux will gdisk.exe work from a network share down to a PC I want to partition and format? I think that is what you are saying so pardon me for being thick but I am just checking to make sure. Hate to partition and format the server instead of the PC.
  3. Thanks Bilou_Gateux, For the quick answer! I certainly appreciate it. I will give it a try. If anyone else has other suggestions please feel free to respond. I need all the help I can get.
  4. OK, I am using a DOS bootdisk to boot to the network and run my unattended install off a network share. The disk I am using is Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk Netbootdisk. I would like to boot to the network (Done with this disk). Delete the partitions on the HD, format the HD in FAT16 to a 2 gig partition and then run winnt.exe to start the install. Doing this works now if I use a win98 floppy to fdisk then reboot and then win98 floppy to format. But I have read that you can do it over the network with diskpart. When I have tried to run it from DOS it says that it cannot be run from DOS. When I run it from a DOS window inside XP it works fine? Is there an easy way to delete the partitions, create the partition I want, format the partition of the HD over the network using DOS and without rebooting? I know I am asking alot but I think I have read here of a couple of people who do this but I would like to know how. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  5. OK I have added DefaultDomainName to Autologon.reg and it still stops at the login screen. So it still does not logon onto the domain. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any other suggestions or possible errors to look for. mbouchard I like your idea I may try that if I still can't get this to logon. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="XXxxxxx" "DefaultPassword"="xxxxxx" "DefaultDomainName"="XXXXX" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" Dahi is this put in the useraccounts.cmd? Also the username I am using is not an administrator account it just has access to the network drive where the applications are stored. Does it have to be an admin account?
  6. I am having problems with my win 2000 pro install stalling at the logon prompt. My applications install off the network so connecting to our Domain is important for the rest of the install to work. THe install works right up to login then stops. Then if I manually logon to the domain the install proceeds just fine. But I want it to login with the User of my choice on the Domain. NOT the administrator on the local computer. I have tried the NET USER meathod and it does not work for me. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Autologon.reg I changed the username and password for obivous reasons. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="XXxxxxx" "DefaultPassword"="xxxxxx" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" cmdlines.txt [COMMANDS] "useraccounts.cmd" useraccounts.cmd net user XXxxxx xxxxxx /add net localgroup Administrators XXxxxxx /add net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited REGEDIT /S autologon.reg EXIT and winnt.sif ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=yes TargetPath=\WINNT [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=xxxxx OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] FullName="xxxx" OrgName="xxxxxxx" ComputerName=* [Display] Xresolution=800 YResolution=600 [Identification] JoinDomain=XXXXX DomainAdmin=XXxxxxx DomainAdminPassword=xxxxx [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\HotFix.bat %systemdrive%\install\8Install.exe Any help would be much appreciated. This is the last piece of the puzzle for me. If I can get this to work then the whole thing will proceed from start to finish without input from me. Thanks in Advance. Craig Jesson
  7. I would like to know how to do this also since my applications reside on the network I want to login to a Domain on first logon with a user not with the administrator account. My problem is that I am currently installing Win2000 and apparently it needs something more than what is provideded in the above links. I have tried the NET USER Method but it does not login. Only takes me to the Ctl-Alt-Del screen and stops. Once I login everything else runs fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Craig
