Hello and Happy New Year!
I was wondering whether anyone has come across this problem where there is a black bar between the scrollbar and the edge of the window. It is consistent across different websites, however, the elements on the webpage are clickable in the black area as if it does not exist.
The computer is a fresh recovery from Lenovo factory settings with Windows 7 Home Edition with all updates from windows update installed. Current installed version of Internet Explorer is 11.0.9600.18124.
Thank you very much!

have you tried sticking the hard drive into another computer and installing the OS on that computer then transporting the HD back to the one you are trying to fix? it might solve some problems... but i duno... i tried that once before, fixed a few driver conflicts and it worked...

go to insert --> object --> Microsoft Equation Editor... there you should be able to configure your fractions as well as the many different mathematical operators...

create an unattended CD with all the networking preconfigured. then you might save the trouble of having to do the exact same settings on each computer...

use the altavista translation... that is free... but it does the same... word for word translation... which you then have to decipher yourself...

pull all your external hardware out and try a boot. if that dosent work, try reinstalling windows, that usually solves problems. if pulling all the hardware out works, boot into windows then plug everything back in. that should solve any driver conflicts incurred during boot.

frys problem is simply when alt+tab is pressed, the folder can be seen in the selection, however, the folder is not visible at all on the taskbar, ie the bar next to where the start button is located. I hope this will clarify things a little, and will do in place of a screendump

Have you tried testing BOTH cables, and it may be your female 2 female plug... that may be the problem, have you tried another plug out?

uninstall sp2 - internet connection remains dead
so reinstall
come across this thread
uninstall driver+reinstall - nothing new - ie. net connection still dead
installed the microsoft update stated in this forum - nothing new again
reboot into safe mode - net connection working!!
reboot back into normal mode - dead again
reboot back into safe mode then change network identification then reboot - still dead
tried pulling the plug for >1 min - still dead
tried using ping and tracert on urls - works
this is so weird...
i connect to the internet using a router and all the other computers are working fine

i have helped many people upgrade to SP2... but there are bugs on it.... ran into a few already such as dead network cards afterwards etc. and I guess companies want to really test out SP2 in all environments before seriously deploying the service pack... it is a big hit to a business to have all their CPU's dying out because of a new SP... it has only been out for 8-9 months...

search the registry for any listing for i386 and if there is a drive letter in front of that, change it to your DVD drive, what you can do as well is copy the entire i386 folder from your windows XP cd onto your hard drive and get it to point to that location, that way you can put the cd away until you need to reinstall windows or something.

are your computers on a single wire ie. NIC-NIC connection w/o a hub or w/ a hub? also, try configuring the settings from the network wizard found in the sidebar in Network connections, this might solve your problem... run it from both computers and see whether that helps...

If you put your Windows XP CD in and boot your machine, when prompted press 'R' to go into the recovery console. At the prompt type
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v Userinit /d "%SystemRoot%\system32\userinit.exe," /f
Take your CD out and reboot, that should do the trick!
If by some chance it doesn't work, you should try copying over, but also in the recovery console.
TYPE:
CD SYSTEM32
HIT THE ENTER KEY
TYPE:
REN wsupdater.exe wsupdater.bak
HIT THE ENTER KEY
COPY userinit.exe wsupdater.exe
HIT THE ENTER KEY
TYPE:
EXIT
HIT THE ENTER KEY
Take your CD out and rebootTried this method... dosent work /.\
thanks anyway... any other people know of an alternative method?

download the virus definition file manually from:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html
and remove your network cable then
removr your entire antivirus from the add/remove programmes,
reboot, and
reinstall antivirus
install downloaded definitions
run antivirus check
if virus quarantine/delete then plug in network cable and run live update and you should be fine,
if no virus then reconnect network cable run live update and rescan...
otherwise run spybot search and destroy... whcih can be found
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
download, update and scan =)

hey I have a windows XP chinese installation on a Fat 32 drive, but whenever i run scandisk for dos (when starting up windows 98) it changes all the filenames so that i cant find my chinese files anymore, and it also screws up bits of the windows installation itself, can anyone help apart from me formatting into NTFS?
Thanks a lot,
Jeff

reinstall a copy over the copy you have now... you will lose all windows settings but your programmes should stay intact... =P

right... first thing when reducing hard disk sizes... internet history, temporary files etcetc... then when you remove programmes, READ the last box, it usually tells you which files were not deleted, go and delete those, you should also clean out the registry because programmes always leaves registry keys behind... and dont install everything windows update bugs you to install, things suck as the .net framework are useless... unless someone can tell me precisely what it is for...

if your have more than one stick of RAM, which is quite common in new computers, then try ripping the one on slot 1 one and replacing it with another stick and see whether that works, and check all your other connections as well... if you really need pull your ram out and give the connections a good clean out...

Black border on IE11

Hello,
Retarded I know, but IE is mandatory due to a special certificate required to get a website to work and the company issuing the certificate only supports IE, not even Edge!
Thanks!
