i just got connected to RR, i got 2 IP addresses 4 my pc's, 1 winxp & 1 win98, i have both pc's connectin to the cable modem through a hub(switch hub) and i wanted both pc's to see each other as a network. i tried the wizard that xp has, every option it gives u, but no luck neither of them see each other at all, both pc's dont have static ip's. Can i make the ip's that RR gives me static ip's to both my pc's, i know i have to setup the gateway;dns;etc. after that will both pc's see each other? setup:................................../winxp cable modem = switch hub <.......both w/ linksys 10/100 Networkcard (toshiba).....(linksys)..............win98

thanx guyz, that did it, i didnt edit the boot file though, i unchecked off the 30sec. display 4 the dual-boot.

heres my problem...i have xp installed...but xp is thinkin that i have win98 also in my pc. what happen was, when i formated my hard drives, i used 98 boot disk to make them fat32 instead of NTFS. but when i formated them i used the "format c: /s" which installs the system files into the hd. (at least i think it does ) so when i finished installing xp, it showed the boot menu to select my OS. i wanted to know how can i turn that off and just have xp bootup?

well, it seems that xp wont take the card at all, i tried to do a clean install of xp w/ the card in it, but i had no luck with it. xp didnt even want to install. so i tried installin 98se, and it picked it up like nothin. so 4 now im gonna have to take the usb2.0 back and get a usb1.0 card instead and see if itll take that one. :hohum

****, i thought i had it bad. i did try to rearrange the cards around the farest i got was getting the blue bar go around twice and stop then when i restarted the pc, it would go past the start logo and just when u think its going to show u ur desktop its doesnt, its stays black. i thought its was a IRQ problem, i thought not to a sign a IRQ for the usb in the bio's, but it didnt work. im thinking of just re-installin xp with the cards already placed in the pc, then maybe it will pick it up and install the drivers for it when its installing, cause i checked the adaptec site and xp has the drivers already for this card. any other good ideas u can think of would help.

i cant even get xp to load up to see, when i try to see if i can see it before xp tries to load but i cant, it loads to quick

i just brought a adaptec usb2.0 pci card (4ports). when i install the card and boot up my pc it freezes on the startup screen of xp, i tried to disable the usb ports on the mobo, but that didnt work, when i take the card out, it boots up fine. also tried to put it on different pci slots and no luck. is anyone using this card? and how they got it to work? im running win xp 2600 build AMD 1Ghz on a Abit KT7-R 2x 256mb =512mb ram linksys 10/100 soundblaster live value geforce ddr 32mb 2x HD western digi. 20gig raid 0 to 40gig 1x HD IBM 15gig Zipdrive 100 internal acer 8/4/32

im using the abit kt7-r with a tbird 1Ghz, the voltage setting are on default, not overclocked, for the psu its a 400w. LouCypher, i did check the power management, and i did have everything off except 4 the harddrive, set to owerdown after 2hrs, the setting in the bios were also off.

for some reason i cant figure out why my usb devices doesnt stay connected. meaning if i connect my canon scanner on (usb connection) i can use it within the 1/2hr after that its like its not connected to my pc, windows doesnt pick it up, it doesnt show up in the scanner&cameras either. its like its not getting power and it happens to my other devices also. like my camera; hp printer; nomad jukebox. but if i connect them to a usb hub (external power) it stays connected, i d/led all the latest drivers for all of them and no luck, xp loses them after awhile. i thought it was the power supply but it cant be, i have a 400w psu. any clues? any one else is having this problem?

im not sure if its the stuff loading up after i finished installing all my software cause when i install xp it took the most a minute to finishin loading and ready 4 me to use but when i installed everything i use, i noticed it takes longer, so i checked to see what loads up i noticed i have 5 "svchost.exe loading up, not sure what that is though. i shutdown every software that doesnt need to load up like aol;aim;msn;etc and still takes a long. i dont think its my hardware cause 98se took me less time to load. my hardware is: abit kt7-r amd tbird 1ghz 512mb ram hercules geforce ddr linksys 10/100 networkcard soundblaster live! 2x 20gig western digital 7200rpm raid to 40gig raid 0 1x 15 western digital 7200rpm acer cdr iomega 100mb zip drive internal and i d/led all the lastest drivers for all of them

i was asking cause, well when i turn on my pc, it does boot up fast, which everyone likes, and since im the only one using this pc it loads into windows w/o me entering a password, so when i get it to boot up to the desktop i noticed its not fully done loading everything up, cause when i open up outlook to check my email, it doesnt open up as quickly as it does after an hour of it beening on, i would have to wait till i see the light from my floppy light up then thats when i know its done loading everything up. any suggestions on how i can have it load everything up faster or should i make a extra account with administrator privalgies to it?

i wanted to know how ya log into xp, cause i noticed when u log in as admin. it takes longer to finish loading cause of the admin tools and stuff. i hate that cause i think xp is done loading when its not then i gotta wait 4 it to finish then i could use my pc. if i was to setup a new user, can i set it up to be able to install/uninstall;delete;install drivers;etc. without it being a admin. account? cause i only see u can make a admin. and a limited user.

Windowsxp88, how would i set it up, i tried putting it into the theme folder 4 luna but it didnt work, i even created a folder 4 the new luna files and it also didnt work, do u have it work? and can u tell me how to do it?
