  1. Either interesting or dumb?

Lets see, 200 million computer users in the U.S...lets say 10 % of those find a bug (and what's their qualifying definition of a 'bug' anyway and who determines if its actually a bug or not.), so we have 2 million people who find a bug...the math = 2000000 X $8000.00 = $1,600,000,000,000.00 WoW! I seriously doubt that they have that much money to lay out for something like this. Heck, all you have to do is look on the MS KB and pick out things that say "We are aware this is a problem in Vista" and then report it as a bug.

And how many computer users are aware of the term "bug" outside the context of an insect?

  2. I've remade them, and I think the new ones look even better than the old one :). The original bitmap comes at 3000x2000 resolution, while the compressed JPEG has been resized to 2560x1600 to meet ImageShack's file size requirement.

  3. Played UT 2004 yesterday. Waiting for UT 2007

    What is its launch date?

Please tell some trics and secrets of ut 2004

Just search for "GNA: The Movie" (here's one link). Watching skilled players is nearly (or even more) important than just practicing. I find myself playing much better after watching that movie. Also try strafing and dodging often, and predicting where the player will be next instead of shooting where they are at the moment.

  4. I have no idea why the front page is devoid of any CES 2007 content. I mean like Apple just released a touch-screen iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator! I repeat...an iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator. An iPod, a phone...you get the point.

    Almost forgot the link...http://news.com.com/1606-2_3-6148642.html?tag=ne.video.6148197

  5. Most antiviruses install a filesystem filter driver as part of the detection component. My theory is that the filter driver is somehow causing ntfs.sys to crash when you're using vLite (no idea why though).

    @Markus

I'm sure nuhi's more than capable of debugging the code himself ;).

  6. A project as large as Vista is bound to have security flaws, more so than even XP, in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if a year from now, Microsoft will regret marketing "security" as one of the benefits for migrating. And though few of us will admit it, I'm sure that a majority of the tech-savvy crowd will migrate just for the sake of having the "newest" version of Windows.

  7. If the VM preallocated the space, then the VM "hard drive" is a file on your computer taking up 16GB. It's also possible that the virtual HD will expand as space is used up (although there's a performance hit and preallocating the space is usually recommended). In either case, it's probably nothing you need to worry about.

  8. Why spend the money? Just export the data recovery certificate for the account and import it into the new computer. Once you have the certificate, you can access the files from your new computer. This is assuming the files are encrypted. If it's an issue of file permission, follow FrankE or Iceman's advice.

  9. I've had some experience with SVS, and although it is a bit different, I'm sure you can modify it to work the way you want. It creates the virtual resources in a hidden folder on the root of your main drive, but if you can modify it so that it loads these files from a USB drive instead, then you should be able to move from computer to computer and still have things work.

  10. thanks for the reply

for a user who only uses browser/foobar(mp3s)/VLC(avis)/msn/(occasionally some online games)

which version would perform smoothest? ultimate or basic?

i dont really need any visualeffects. i know for sure that im gonna use classic themes.

For a user that does the following tasks, I don't even see why you want to upgrade. XP can serve your needs just fine...
