If you don't want to script and assuming all 6 of your PCs are XP (with correct open ports on firewall and you have admin creds) try using msinfo32.exe. After you start it go to View->Remote Computer then provide hostname or IP. This will give you a list of h/w components and software installed via Windows Installer.
