  1. Quick launch seems to be quite a common problem alothugh there is not many solutions.. i found an addon (ryanVM) which im using & modified the ntuser.dat for the default user.. working a treatnow..
  2. Hi, i can unlock the tool bar & select to use the quick launch bar but it wont let me drag any shortcuts into it.. there is no exisitng shortcuts either.. what is the best way to set this up & add to it during unattended installation..? can this be configured in winnt.sif?
  3. Are you using Riprep or flat images..? if your using flat images why do you have so many & if your using riprep you need to use a flat image. i have 4 images for about 10 different types of machines. the images are only split for purpose not system. ive got Workstation which goes on any workstation we have on our internal network & domain. laptop which is the same i386 but the post installation installs are slightly different. this is for any laptop we own. which connects to our network/domain. Standalone which is for PC's we have at out centres that do not connect to my work network or domain. i can put any one of these 3 on any pc or laptop. Each image has all the BTS driver packs & RyanVM updates integrated. As i said all these images have the samei386 its just the post installtion tasks in $OEM$ which differ. Oh, the 4th image is my BartPE image for repairs etc online without booting to machines OS. this is not really related to what you wanted to know.
  4. If you are trying to access a network during the install wouldnt it be better to do this install from the network from RIS. This way you will be able to access network resources during the install process.
  5. integration of IE7 & WMP11 into the CD prevents RunonceEX from running if you use this for post installation tasks. its IE7 that causes the problem. ive tried using addons of both which but this seems to break half of my RunonceEX. i havent as yet had the time to search for a fix.
  6. its falling over on cannot copy the file : admparse.dll.mui also advpack.dll.mui extmgr.dll.mui feeddisc.wav html.iec.mui icardie.dll icardie.dll.mui icarav03.rat idndl.dll & many more.. looks like RIS dosent like IE7 being integrated into the flat image..
  7. image type should be flat not sysprep. [OSChooser] Description ="XP Base Install - laptop (Auto Partiton)" Help ="Automatically installs Microsoft Windows XP Professional without prompting the user for input." LaunchFile = "%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%\templates\startrom.com" ImageType =Flat Version="5.1 (2600)"
  8. There is many threads out there discussing the slipstrwaming into CD's but none into a RIS image.. I so far have used Nlite to slipstream IE7 into my XP CD & then used the Jean Sebastian tool to integrate WMP11 into the CD. i have then created my RIS image from this & then adedded my Ryan VM & BTS driver packs. I tried the install from this image but it fell over on a file but cannot recall what it was at present. Has anyone else had any luck integrating these two into a RIS flat image & have it working as expected..?
  9. Hi DXK, I have sorted mine now.. use the txt mode network drivers on tom speirs guide & you must remove all *.pnf files from the i386 directory of your Bart RIS image.. I have rewritten Tom's guide as there is some anomolies Tom has a copy but is currently busy & hasnt updated his site. If you want I can mail you my instructions. email me. regards Mark.
  10. Hi Guys, Need a little help here.. im using BArtPE wit the XPE shell via RIS. when it boots up I get the error message reported on previous pages. Dialogue title: unregmp2.exe - Unable To Locate Component Dialogue box: This application has failed to start because WMDRMSDK.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. how can I get round this with my setup.?
  11. What is the best Risme tool on the market..? 3com one was free but I cannot find a download for it anymore.
  12. I want to use BartPE by ris instead of CD. it can be done as described in tom speirs how too. http://www.tomspeirs.co.uk/bartpeonris.htm the problem ive got is it starts to load but it then blue screens after the bottom white bar has gone across & says please wait as it boots into the windows XP screen stage of the boot.
  13. has anyone got this running..? ive used tom speirs how too but when I boot it loads the bar across then says Please Wait & then blue screens. anyone got it running, made any mods to his instructions or had the same problem as me & resolved it..? all help is greatly apreciated. Chiners_68
  14. Please share what tools you all use, rate & where to get them?
  15. JimBobUK , Ive had RIS working for a year or two now.. its not the service. prey, is that on Server 2003? ive got myself BartPE setup for RIS to use from this menu. cheers
  16. Simple question. how do you enabe this..? ive searched the we & looked at many pages talking about this but none tell you how to enable it so you can use it. any help would be greatly apreciated. cheers
  17. i had a similart problem so i changed my header in the reg file to & it worked.
  18. Its easier to create A Flat image using ris & install the unit in 1 hour unattended. you can then take an image from this for other machines which are identical.
  19. Ive added the following reboot & logged back in as the same user but the icons still exisit on the desktop. back to the drawing board. here is my reg fie.
  20. IcemanND, [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Setup\UserOptions] user options key dosent exisit also ;[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu] HideDesktopicons dosent exist either.. anyone have any other keys or know how to solve this..?
  21. Firstly I would download the latest XP deployment pack to get the latest sysprep. i did this the other day & it solved one of my outstanding issues. it might yours. remove all the mass storage & pnp driver stuff you dont need it if your creating an image from a dell gx520 for other dell gx520's. Its only something extra that could be causing the problem. run mini setup & reseal. dont select any other options other than shutdown or reboot. here is a copy of my sif file which you might identify a problem from comparing to yours.
  22. I use syspre on 520's & image with powerquest drive image without a problem, you dont need the mass storage section for the same PC's. can you post your sif file minus your OEM key etc.
  23. When you run sysprep with a mini setup after the process has completed you get a windows media player shortcut & an IE link on the desktop. What is the best way to get rid of these as i dont want them on the desktop.? easiest way would be to delete from all users\desktop but unfortunatley it dosent place them here & its not under the default user profile either. It seems to add to the current user but where or what causes it to add to the current user..?
