The way to pin apps to the taskbar is to right click the program and select pin to taskbar, not drag and drop as I had presumed below hence solved.
Sorry
I am so pleased to have my Taskbar at the top of my screen again, and a Windows 7 style start menu in Windows 11. Thank you.
I can't seem to find how to drag and drop program icons (from the program menu) to the task bar.
A tool tip saying "Pin to toolbar" is displayed but when I let go of my mouse button the program is not pinned to the tool bar.
I would like to be able to start up commonly used programs with one click on the task bar rather than having to click on the start menu first.
For example on this Win10 machine I have a n umber of programs (copilot, explorer, Sony Vegas, Chrome, Snagit, Photoimpact, Zoom, Zotero, etc)
pinned next to the start menu button before the open program icons as shown below.
On my Windows 11 computer Copilot was pinned to the task bar by Microsoft but I can't drag programs there. I tried unlocking the Taskbar but that only affects movement (as expected/before).
I guess this must be possible otherwise there would be a forum thread. I had a good look through settings as well as searching this forum.
Thanks again,
Tim
