  1. anything but a 3050ti, 3060ti, 3070ti or a 3080ti. make sure you buy one with csm support & muxxed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplexing) support so you can just get the display off the dgpu. i have a friend that bought this laptop that has a 3080 and supports all of the above, it should run windows 7 just fine beaware: youre gonna have issues with the trackpad cuz yk.. i2c, and youre also gonna need to swap out the wifi card for a 8265 (also forget about EVEN running vista lol) i think its this one, but do your research before buying it https://www.newegg.com/Storm-Grey-Lenovo-Legion-7-16ACHg6-82N600DUUS-Gaming/p/N82E16834646366
  2. i guess i could just try getting the igpu working since the first version is from like 2021 and amd ended support for their w7 drivers in 2022, speaking of that has anyone TRIED backporting the ryzen 5000 series igpu drivers to w7? i think they might be dch because i tried getting them to work under 1507 or 1607 and they didnt work.. oh well im probably just gonna continue using that laptop as a server as i refuse to use windows 10, even if its my only choice
  3. dw, even if someone did get the driver woking, youd still need an external monitor which defeats the whole purpose of using a laptop i alr got an egpu dock and it did work but i barely even use the 3050ti laptop, my 2017 macbook air with windows 8.0 is slim which is what ive always wanted (and also runs NT 6.x with full driver support) only if someone ports over dch at some point so we can run w10 drivers, didnt they drop non-dch in the 470 batch?
  4. there r like 20+ variations of the 3050ti driver according the inf files from the nvidia driver i got from acers website, mine is this one 10DE 25A0 162A the laptop in question is an acer aspire 7 a715-43-r9r0
  5. yeah btw i tried again with the latest driver (475), no luck i tried with nv_dispi, nvaci, nvlai, etc. i still have the laptop with me i just use it as a server though, if you want me to test anything ill happily fire up the windows 8.1 install on it
  6. this screenshot should sum up everything pretty nicely, try plugging in the laptop to an external monitor
  7. well that explains it then anyways if there is no fix for this, my recommended fix is an egpu setup: is it portable? no. will you have a compatible gpu? yes
  8. how else was i supposed to install the driver? i always install nvidia drivers via device manager, even if i can install normally
  9. and yes, my laptop is pure uefi class 3 i think im gonna use a spare gpu for my egpu dock until i buy an rx 580 (im either gonna use a gt 240 or a firepro v3900) uh yeah other than that what can i say, @D.Draker youre open making a modded driver, would be really appreciated
  10. anyways i already ordered my egpu dock, gonna be there soon im either gonna install windows 7 with a few mods so i can run this under pure uefi class 3 or im just gonna go for windows 8.0 (with a really good theme) these screenshots are from my other computer, thats the theme im talking about.. its about 95% accurate
  11. i did, i tried 10+ drivers.. none of them worked
  12. thanks for responding, sad this didnt go anywhere given the fact nvidia made sure all of us W7 users wouldnt get 30 series laptop drivers for the Ti models (unlike the windows xp modded GTX 960 driver that gave the entire 900 series fully functional drivers, or whatever it was called)
  13. yeah lets just say im not selling my laptop just for a normal laptop 3050 (which gets beaten by a gtx 970 btw) just gonna do an egpu setup with whatever graphics card i have laying around
  14. i have a 3050ti in my laptop, tried modding a driver for 10 hours straight but no results, if could send the inf files (i know how to mod drivers pretty well) NOTE: I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE DESKTOP COUNTERPARTS OF THE 30 SERIES, PLEASE DO NOT MENTION THEM anyways, i attempted to mod this driver https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/197673/en-us/ if anyone has any ideas pls lmk
  15. nobody responded.. i ended up getting a R7 5800x
  16. btw for anyone wondering, CS2 still works on windows 7
  17. I've been considering upgrading my old Ryzen 7 3700x for a while now, at first i was thinking of a R9 5900x but damn they're expensive... I don't know if getting a R7 5800X3D will be worth it tho (I heard they refuse to work on older Windows 10 builds), I am trying to avoid 3Dv cache. Anyways, so I have 2 options: I buy a R7 5800x (non 3D) - it's a bad buy right now.. the 3D is so much better but like I'm on Windows 7 and I don't wanna find out if I'm gonna get ACPI BSODs OR I buy a 7000 series AMD - However, just like the 3D 5th gen CPUs, idk if I am gonna run into ACPI issues, I wanna hold onto Windows 7 for as long as I can. (Linux isn't good enough to the point where I can make the jump) So do I risk it with the 7000 series OR do i just buy the R7 5800x?
  18. ive also installed windows xp on my ryzen 7 3700x & x470 system, did it break when i installed onecoreapi? yes BUT did xp work when there was no onecoreapi? also yes
  19. it wont, never did for me (i couldnt find anyone with this problem btw, maybe it is a thing on AM5, however my job will never pay me enough to buy an AM5 motherboard or a ryzen 7th gen cpu ) - Does your Ryzen with win7 go into the idle 800MHZ mode, or whatever the lowest state? no, heres is a screenshot from task manager btw if you wanna ask some more questions about how my ryzen system runs with old oses, you can always ask them on discord (its on my msfn profile, i also respond faster there)
  20. well, yes the blue screens wont stop unless you buy a usb board (the one that dixel suggested) or if you fully disable the usb controller, from what i see it's a ryzen-motherboard related issue, ryzens really hate vista and some older builds of windows 7, i learnt this the hard way. I literally bought an x470 thinking it would fix my problems (in the end it didnt lol, but it works great with my windows 7 install!)
  21. welp.. this one is gonna be loooooooooong. it is more than enough for basic tasks, however in gaming it already started to show its age: from what ive heard and saw from my friends and youtube videos, the 5th series a lot better than the 3rd, a really good friend of mine got windows 7 to work on his ryzen 5 5600 & b550 system, so yes, you will get vista to work on a 5th series, id probably stay away from a 3rd gen in 2024 and beyond, since there are still really good upgrade paths to 5th. it struggles with 240hz gaming, which kinda sucks for me why am i absolutely trashing on the ryzen 7 3700x right now? it literally gets demolished by an i9 9900k in any benchmark you can throw at it, now im still gonna be an AMD d$*%rider here and tell you to stay away from intel if you wanna use vista on any intel chip (amd is just miles ahead in the backwards compatibility part), but now lets get to personal experience; I got this chip in mid 2021 when i couldve very well bought a 5th gen cpu (money was tight tho), and i can say it will still work well for the next 10 years, but you can say that about any 2019 cpu if im being real here. The 1% lows are really painful on this chip, but i use 1080p so its not like im gonna notice it much (would hurt on 4k or 1440p), other than that it is pretty good if we arent talking about synthetic tests/benchmarks, but my biggest problem with it overall is that it kinda bottlenecks anything past a 1080ti, and like thats bad. I am probably gonna upgrade 5 months to 1 year, im most likely going to get a ryzen 9 5th gen (yeah yeah scream at me BOOO no upgrade paths!! its not like im gonna run windows 11 on it anyways, i need to for windows 7 and vista) now about the : AMD still makes 3.6Ghz CPU, it looks low when we almost in 2024. for their low end models (ryzen 3's), its really funny how amd can just continue milking low clock speed cpus and people will still buy the chips them the 5th gens have really good clocks tho, like even my laptop's cpu (ryzen 7 5825u) has higher clocks than my ryzen 7 3700x if you want to see some videos about this chip that show you how it performs in 2023, id check these out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QL881FR0IU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caEqZOOAlRc this one isnt about that chip but i have the same chipset as this guy and im considering getting this cpu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK9kd0-LhFM well, thats all i have to say about this very chip, conclusion: id stay away from it in 2024 and beyond, dont get this cpu, get a 5th gen instead EDIT: I shouldve also said that the 3rd generation really made sense back when there was no 5th gen, the 5th generation is really better in all aspects, except for the pricing, any 3rd gen ryzen is 50% cheaper compared to any 5th gen cpu. I'd probably avoid the 3rd generation unless you get your hands on a ryzen 7 3700x for like under 70 american dollars, thats a really sweet deal even tho the cpu kinda sucks (well, it will run games well for like another 2-3 years then it will start being even crappier, i cannot wait to see how 3rd gen ryzen owners complain on reddit about the 1% low stutters
  22. that was rhetorical.. anyways, i might be considering getting vista 32 bit but heres the problem; i wont be able to do anything fun. Although vista 64 bluescreens me, i was able to install modern stuff such as ungoogled chromium (and supermium), play a few old roblox revivals (2019L roblox client and up are windows 7+ unless you do some hex editing) and most importantly, i cannot play minecraft 1.16+, and in general ill be stuck on really old versions of stuff that i use on a daily basis (did i even mention coding?? how do i code if i have no modern ide?? istg the extended kernel is a life saver) welp... guess ill try 64 vista, and i might buy that usb board thingy if you give me the amazon and driver link, other than that, ill probably stay on windows 7 and fedora linux for the time being... (the support on 7 will forever be nicer than on vista, you cant even run rufus 3.22 on vista!)
  23. well im gonna fully disable the usb controller so there is no point in doing that
  24. of course im running 64 bit (im mentally sane, also who the HELL would run 32 bit? thats like shooting yourself in the foot)
  25. I've been experiencing issues ever since I started using Vista on my Ryzen 7 3700X X470 system, and it hasn't stopped. Let's say I'm just minding my own business, then out of nowhere, BOOM! IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, BAD_POOL_HEADER, etc., blue screens. I've checked every forum thread with people having the exact same problem as me, and apparently, there is no fix for it. You just have to deal with these stupid blue screens UNLESS you decide to buy a PS/2 mouse and keyboard and disable the USB controller in Vista. While this isn't what I wanted to happen, it seems like it is my last resort (unless someone finds a patch for this Ryzen-specific problem). I've tried running Vista with: - No updates, still bluescreens - All 2017 updates with/without the extended kernel, still bluescreens - All 2017 updates + Server 2008 2020 updates with/without the extended kernel, still bluescreens Everything I do seems to break it even more. Okay, now let's just get to the question. So, do I really have to buy a PS/2 mouse and a Y PS/2 splitter (since I only have 1 PS/2 port on my motherboard), or is there some sort of PATCH for this (which there probably isn't)? Realistically, I'm gonna be fine even without the patch. I'm just gonna continue maining Windows 7 (going strong for the most part, although the fact that there is no sort of extended kernel kinda sucks).
