  1. Hi there! New user here. Thought I'd ask for some advice on this one. Few weeks ago, I've installed XP on this Samsung N150 Plus netbook. It ran surprisingly well and somewhat snappy too (I'm using a 5400RPM hard drive at the time). One problem is that, there's basically little software support for XP now. So I've decided to install and install to Vista. After installing Vista on the netbook, it ran soo bad. Not as responsive as XP, or even 7 (which is the original OS for this netbook). I also noticed that the disk activity light is always blinking. Not good. Then I thought an SSD would do it for Vista, or just in general making the netbook a little more snappy. Fast forward to last week. I bought this ADATA SU650 120GB SSD. It was the cheapest known brand that I could find. I'm not going to put any sensitive data on it nor make the netbook my daily driver. So I'm fine experimenting with it (safely of course). Now that I've got the SSD, I did what I always did, and that's doing research. And wow that's a lot to take in. There's life span, read/write counts, SSD failure rate, TRIM support, partitioning, disabling features, enabling features, drivers, programs. Confusing stuff! Noted that most of what I've looked at is a few years old, and I've haven't seen anything recent than 2012! And that bring us to today, and the reason why I'm here. I still haven't installed Vista on the SSD yet. Currently has a Linux distro on it to test if the SSD arrived in working order. Here's what I want to ask : Is it possible to install Vista on the SSD without any system modification? Is there any pros and cons doing it this way? Is there a right/particular way of installing Vista on the SSD? Any recommended tweaks/modifications/programs to do/use? Why do you recommend them? Any tips on keeping the system and/or the SSD healthy in the future? Here's the specs of this Samsung N150 Plus netbook: CPU: Intel Atom N450 GPU: Intel GMA 3150 RAM: 1GB DDR2 (planning to upgrade to 2GB, but sticking to 1GB for now) Storage: ADATA SU650 120GB SSD More questions might arise as time goes by but that's all for now. Stay safe and well my dudes!
