that will not be big issue,u can easily work with that. Am running win 7ultimate on a p4 2ghz over intel d102ggc m/b 1GB ram and ati raderon 200 xpress card onboard, works smoothly, except some DWM issues - sloweing of UI and unresponsiveness, but it will not be there once u turnoff Aero and works on classic or basic.

The new bootmgr [Vista/ 7 bootloader] allows mapping custom keycodes for recovery sequences in BCD.
i didn't tried but saw it in BCD Walkthrough or in its OEM deployment guide
i dont think it is that much complex or messy . Using it we can restore the Fxx key for recovery.

I recently upgraded one of the SP2 running PC to SP3 in the Domain
But nw the admin shares are not accessible via
\\<comp-name>\C$
I tried from XP SP2 systems running within the subnet and W2k3 Ent Server also.
but the share can be mounted on remote computer using
net use * \\<comp-name>\c$ /user:<comp-name>\administrator * /persistent:no

We already had such post for Win 7
Long Zheng even startd a website to improve the windows 7 experience (also for vista and Snow Leopard ) based on user feed backs
but m$ will sticking on their policy , idont think they are listening to any of these sites....
so i think such a thread is of no use....
compnies r mostly driven by market values (how fast dey can market mad make profit) and less of user feedback (only frm beta tsesters)

no need of patching for Vista SP2 and Win 7. it can be change with a simple registry entry
How to change the half-open TCP connections limit
How to enable the half-open TCP connections limitImportant This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
322756 How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
To enable the half-open TCP connections limit in Windows Server 2008 with SP2 or in Windows Vista with SP2, set the value of the EnableConnectionRateLimiting DWORD registry entry to 1 (0x00000001). To do this, follow these steps:Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
Locate and then double-click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\EnableConnectionRateLimiting
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

I386 patching might be easy
1. keep list of files to be patched
2. look for the files in I386 as such or compressed (eg. shell32.dl_)
3. if compressed extract using extract
4. patch it
5. recompress using makecab
Important: SFC must be disabled in order to do i386 patching (nLite recommends it.)

YES absolutely.
bcoz , to slipstream, u need to run x86-64 EXE's , which cant be done on a x86 machine.
(da same cases as XP Pro x64 slipstreaming need and working X86-64 machine)

Nice guide! But it always depend on your use. Some others components recommended for you are safe to remove regarding your personal use.
Anyway it can help some people
Thank
its better to have guide for WHAT happens if a component is removed than what can or cannot be removed (u can always create a Remove all (all checked) install)
eg: i never use Zip folders then whats the ponit in keeping it? there are so many components like the same..
Better provide a detailed description, dependencies etc for each componet ,update it with user feedbacks
It helps nuhi to less document the app and more on features

no ,just installed vlited vista and tried to drag&drop my favorite links to it ,but not being shown
Did you happen to use a third party program to remove the arrow overlays on shortcuts? That's why this was happening to me. I can't recall what the fix was.I did the same +1
i used hacked ver. of TweakUI to do remove the overlay
used FxVisor to make blank overlay for shorcut and problem solved
now the links are visible
