  1. You see......more code-speak ! Voodo to you, magic to me ! Flight1 have refunded the £30 I paid for the new Instant Scenery saying I really should have persisted with reinstallation. I reminded them that everything they told me to do resulted in failure. At least my way got me working software Cheers & thanks again. I nearly forgot - Firefox is my default browser.............& thank youVistaLover .
  2. I'm intrigued, who is OP? The Haller .reg did get through, at least a windowed message announced that it had been successfully installed in exactly the same way when I clicked your .reg. Yours was the boot up the backside !? My older Flight1 account has 2 software items that could be related to this Flight Simulator in Vista, but neither have dates that would allow me to identify which to attempt to reinstall. I've decided not to mess about trying to see which it is, so bought another one & that is now installed in the simulator & working smoothly. Contact with my Flight1 account is assured now that TLS.1.1 & 1.2 is enabled in Internet Options. I can now take the computer to the friend I promised it to in time for his birthday. Thank you for your patient help, I'm grateful to you. Terry.
  3. I now have to deal with Flight1 who just push things back at one & having spent 45 mins or so ressurecting an old account I discover my old purchases have numbers but not dates. I've going to knock off after a busy afternoon as well, & pop down the road to a friend to taste malt scotch & chat about unimportant things. Coping with Flight1 is more onerous than dealing with a 10 car pileup...... I am very grateful for your help & I'll get in touch again tomorrow. Terry
  4. jaclaz.............I have to go out for 3 hrs probably. Of course neither Firefox nor IE is need to contact my accout, just the facility of TLS1.2. I've been validating but there's still a problem as you can see in this screenshot. I've roamed around inside my account & check the software I've bought there. I've logged in & out with one password so Flight1 are going to have to sort this latest glitch out. I'll be back later & thanks for your brilliant & patient help so far! Terry.
  5. Can I suggest we ignore IS3 which is only relevant once inside my Flight Sim account. I just need to use Firefox to get into my Flight1 account which I did with W7 TLS1.2 enabled. I then asked my account to validate IS3 which would get me 'Validated'. If Vista had TLS1.2 I'd see a message that said 'Validated' & the software's ready to use. My Vista Home Premium disc says 'This disc contains 62-bit software only.' BUT - because you mentioned 32-bit I went on & looked at MS & IE and saw this: I clicked that John Haller reg file earlier - has that got something to do with this ?
  6. Good morning....Yes TLS1.2 & System Type is 64-bit OS The screenshot shows the error & Flight1 tell me this is becaue my Vista isn't TLS1.2 enabled. It's got nothing to do with a firewall. HOWEVER, when I use a Windows 7 machine I go straight to my account & can validate it for use in the W7 machine. Terry. I should add that this problem has arisen because Flight1 stopped using File Keys Reinstallaions a few years ago in favour of using the account method. I am only aware of this with trying to validate the IS3 reinstallation into the reinstalled Vista for use in the Flight Sim.
  7. An aside: I retired 23 yrs ago & am busier now in this CV19 catastrophe with 5 or 6 neighbours than when I worked . It's very rare I can grab 2 hrs for myself. This Vista problem is something I could do without, hence W7 waits in the wings. I didn't mean you personally. I can install W7 when it gets here becaue it's simpler than this invovled rigmarole but I like Vista. You all talk in code & understand it but I don't. I've not been faced with any if this before. I mean John Haller says 'download' but it took me ages to relise he mant copy & paste......I think. I've got IE9 64 bit but where does that get me? However I did use the tip you sent anout the 64bit registry editor. I checked this out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\ but there is no Wow6432Node. see screenshot. You have said 'Then, it is entirely possible that: a. your *whatever* flight simulator thingy site works now just fine in Firefox' This FS thingy in is Flight Simulator & has no connection with Firefox. nor to IE9. The only reason I need TLS1.2 is to connect with my Flight1 account to validate my purchase years ago for the software IS3 to go into my pre-crash Flight Sim in Vista. My Vista cannot now connect to my Flight1 account because it needs TLS1.2 that it does not have. IS3 is not dependent on TLS1.2 to work in FS2004 but my ability to contact my Flight1 account from Vista is. I suggest we forget all about the IS3 software. I need TLS1.2 in Vista just to contact my Flight1 account to validate my purchase. Apologies for repeating myself. Now, I appreciate your help & advice & if Vista can have TLS1.2 in Internet Options that will be wonderful. I've just found this vista tls update.reg sent on Saturday by John Haller. He says 'It's a text file, you have to right click and Save As. I've attached it in a zip for you.' Shall I run it now ?
  8. Thank you. You've made the decision for me to install W7 which I've now done. I learned to fly with Vista so am sad to see it go.
  9. jaclaz, THANK YOU. I was getting agitated with that Vistaopocalypse & thinking 'stuff this I'll install W7' & you post your insitghful observations that saves the day. I have to take a neighbour to Bournemouth Hospital & will have a go at your suggestions when I get back this evening.........a long day I think ! Using IE is something I've not done for years ! I've had a quick look & cannot see any Wow6432Node at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ Must go I'm late !!!
  10. If you had read my first post you would have seen 'I don't use IE but Firefox but I do want to enable TLS 1.1/1.2 & I will be very grateful if you can tell me how to do it.' Let me repeat I DON'T USE IE BUT FIREFOX'. What do you mean by this 'If you can activate your software by visiting their website using a browser such as Firefox,' ? If you had kept up you will see that I cannot VALIDATE the software becaue my Vista has TLS1.0....see screenshot. Firefox is TLS1.2 enabled but my Vista isn't. What do you mean by activating ? I don't want to activate anything. D'you know, I came here because I was told this site would help me add TLS1.2 to my Vista, but with snide people like you jabbing away I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have bothered.
  11. jaclaz - in your helpful regedit tutorial you have: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\TLS1.1 a "file" ("value") named "OSVersion". I don't have TLS1.1 just TLS1.0. ALSO, I've read somewhere here that the TLS 1.2 I want to appear in Internet Options to facilitate my validating IS3 is only for Internet Explorer............? I have Firefox 52.9.0.
  12. Hello jaclaz, IS3 first: I had FS2004 & IS (ending with the final version) in Vista from day 1 in 2008 which ran flawlessy for 10 yrs until the drive died in 2018 & was replaced & everything was reinastalled. Flight1 had stopped recognising the codes that came with the software & did everything on line. They changed the system. Because validation wouldn't work due to my Vista not having TLS1.2 I was deprived from using it, hence my need to TLS 1.2 to Vista. I need TLS 1.2 for Firefox to be able contact my account to validate it & no other reason....... I make airfields, etc & use W7 in 3 other machines with 2 versions of FS2004 - one being Golden Wings 3 which I show via a big screen at events with a fast high-end machine. All these have IS3 & work smoothly. My airfields, etc will only work in FS2004 & W7. I've been using both for a long time. Some have tried with FSX & some have even got it to work but I couldn't. Updates. I stopped auto updating to install the x64 KB4056564. I've resumed auto & it's searching. I had no idea updating was a problem & must look into that. It's set to auto & I've assumed it just updated. I use Firefox 52.9.0 which is TLS 1.2
  13. jaclaz........thank you ! I've not used it before but I have to go out now & will carry on when I get back Cheers. Terry.
  14. Hi. You're much more switched on about this tham I am ! I've not got a clue how to do it. I read a peice yesterday about using regedit & it meant clicking from this to that & on to that. Not having done this before I'll have to read it 3 times before doing anything. BUT, have you got time to write a how-to for me ? I got the impression I'll have to add folders for TLS 1.1 & 1.2.......... I've copied your above mod.................and this screenshot is what my Internet Options has, Terry.
  15. jaclaz, Imacri, Vistapocalypse: My apologies for this tardy reply. I got to this in John Haller's blog; Download this .reg key: vista-tls-1.1-1.2-update.reg but am mystified how to download it. I use Firefox 52.9.0 ESR. I set the integer value to 3 to force protocol of TLS 1.2 to be the default. The sslabs view shows TLS 1.2. I'll check ghacks later today....... Yes I am that TerryWallis with a post on VistaForums - I wanted a quick reply to my TLS quest. They were not helpful. I sorted out the hanging updater (what a rigmarole but it worked) and have installed KB4056564. My Vista has Service Pack 2. Looking at the installed updates list I see the last was 30/01/2018. I've not made any registry changes & am happy to do so if I know what to put ! The problem remains, until I can see TLS in Internet Options I can't contact the IS3 vendor to validate reinstallation........ You know, I've had Vista x64 HP since it appeared & put FS2004 in it. I find it's smooth & reliable cp. with W7, but the computer support people I use here throw their hands up in horror at the V word. It went to 10 unblemished yrs until the drive failed & was reinstalled at my insistance. Thanks for your replies & I hope this is OK? Terry.
