  1. Most of them work pretty well....used them all for a while...as long as their configured properly. This does not include Black Ice. Hardware solution is still the best with maybe a software firewall too.

  2. In msconfig go to boot.ini and click SOS, you wil loose the black windows screen(in professional) and see the drivers loading and then get the blue Microsoft NT screen and a quick disk scan and then login screen.

Oopps......I think you want to disable the bios splash screen. As already stated, most bioses give you an option to disable it.

  3. I normally would say the same thing, its got some but for a alpha build its pretty stable once you tweak it a bit, disable services much like is done with xp. It works pretty well except for my okidata printer(no-driver) and no aureal sound driver so I have no sound unless I use onboard sound. I ws bored, it gave me a project for a day. :)

  4. Its the mindset. I run almost all games on xp, either just install them and run them or for older ones I use compatability mode. (most not all). As in life, software is just a series of accomodations. Overall, xp is the bomb, I cannot ever consider using a 9x based os again, havent in 4 years.:blueteam

  5. I just gotta say, black ice is crap, norton personal firewall works ok but its annoying and not free.

Sygate personal firewall works competently although I did had a open port which was a problem.

Zone alarm, ahhh good old zone alarm, can be defeated. I used to like it,annoying too and as I said earlier about black ice can be defeated.

All you zonies dont jump down my throat.

In lieu of a hardware solution ("the bomb") I prefer yes, tiny personal firewall

    oh, its free too.:nerves
