Just checked again, it is a 7B error
-
Sorry for the delay, Ill post up some more results tonight.
-
@cdob Tried usb3(creator) driver+ usb_fix -> applied just install.wim on fixed disk. Result=BSOD. I will try again without usb_fix
-
Hmm, he charges quite a high price, and I feel like his level of skill is a bit overkill for this lol. I think I'll keep trying on my own for a while longer

Sorry to side-track but here are some thoughts I'm having. Would it be possible for me to hire someone (or learn myself) to write the emmc driver? https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff554811(v=vs.85).aspx It doesn't seem like it would take an expert very long to do, considering how there's already a win8.1 version of the driver and the intel emmc driver that @cdob found (which was close to working?). Also, here are some interesting links I came accross: https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Intel+Soc+Sd+Host+Controller+Emmc+ https://communities.intel.com/thread/76705 https://www.osronline.com/showthread.cfm?link=258908 Is there a way to trick windows into thinking a usb flash drive is a fixed disk/external hdd?

I'm back. Noted, I will post up some more results tonight

1. It took me many tries to solve the command errors lol, but I think I managed to do this. Win7 setup was loaded and my wireless keyboard and mouse wasn't working (and I forgot to press shift+f10, sorry). I guess this is because of no usb3 drivers. 2. Then I tried to add usb3drivers (from Win7_USB3.0_Creator_v3) to the same boot.wim and it got bsod. I have to catch a flight now, but I will be back to work on this in about 48 hours. The first thing I'll do is step 1 again properly.

Attached is a log of my attempt and the error I got, and also my intended plan. E: drive is wd passport because I haven't enough space to mount on C:. Also, I have been using x86 win7 iso all this time because from what I understand, x64 version makes it more complicated. So just to clarify: I should add x86 drivers? Thanks planofapproach.txt log.txt

I seem to be getting errors with command prompt, I will need to re-install windows 8 I think, please bear with me
-
It seems like I don't have enough local disk space to run the installer =(. It gives no option for mount-path. I will try again on different computer tomorrow. Could I just manually add the drivers instead from that same folder? I only have lexar 8gb and 32gb usb sticks currently, but can buy more if needed. I think we've tried this previously (see page 1) and the result was:"No fixed disks to show"+"missing driver error". I will try these things within a day
-
I think so. The size matches up at least and there is only the lexar 8gb connected to the laptop. Btw, that previous attempt I posted was usb boot, not apply-image method. I think all apply-image methods I've tried result in bsod after 'starting windows' animation. I will try this tonight
-
Hey man So not even the intel driver (iaiosd)?
-
Thanks man, I just have a few questions. Why did you use VMWare when you already applied win7 to E: partition? What if I get bsod (probably due to missing drivers? Why do you suggest this particular method? Isn't it quite similar to applying image on an external fixed disk?
-
Apply just boot.wim, install.wim or both? Btw, I have applied boot.wim to an external fixed disk (see previous posts), and got bsod. My guess is it is likely I will get bsod again, from previous tests. Assuming, I did that and got another bsod, what would the next step be?
-
Yes I am on win 8.1. You mean apply Windows 7 install.wim onto my emmc drive? I think that's too risky atm since the win7 setup isn't detecting it properly (see screenshot above). Win7 diskpart is detecting it as type: Unknown
-
@cdob Sorry for the delay, here are 2 screenshots from the latest attempt, this time booted from a new 8gb flash drive. boot.wim+emmc(corrected)+usb3 drivers but I excluded the usb3_fix.cmd and there was no bsod this time. Perhaps it is no a media card reader issue? I think I have been doing that, but with boot.wim. I don't understand your other instructions
-
I am getting bsod again with boot.wim+emmc(corrected)+usb3+usb3 fix. I'll try a few more permutations iaiosd.inf
-
Sorry my bad, I will try again. Do I add it to the existing code or do I delete everything under ;Baytrail and paste it?
-
Sorry for the delay. I think I've been using that code this whole time. I applied boot.wim image index 2 on wd elements, using the same steps you described for index.wim. The first time was with emmc drivers+usb3 drivers+fix_usb.cmd. Result: http://imgur.com/YXRbgfr The second attempt only had emmc drivers (no usb3 anything): http://imgur.com/HpPH8XA It is similar to what happened with my old wintousb attempts. iaiosd.inf
-
Where do you want me to paste that code? And do I make the boot.wim using the same steps as above (but with no install.wim at all?)? Sorry, I am quite newb
-
Ok, so I tried these steps with the lexar and the apply-image was taking too long. Next I tried with wd elements all the steps went smoothly (I think). I used the 'cd' command to get into the folder with 'fix_USB3_SD.cmd' When I tried to boot the elements, [start loop] I got the "Starting Windows" with 4 coloured dots (win7). The 4 dots starting moving together then the laptop suddenly reboots and goes into Win 8.1. So I immediately restart, and boot elements again, and this time I get the black screen with 'Start Windows Normally" and "safe mode", etc.. I chose 'Start Windows Normally" and it goes to the start of the loop. Does this data help?
-
@cdob The apply-image command is taking too long for some reason. It takes 3 hours to reach like 10%, but the laptop crashes around then (overloaded cpu I think). Is there anyway I can work around this? Mounting is much faster (but must I unmount?). If I use my usual method of mounting-unmounting then both the boot.wim and install.wim will be included. I will try to do this on a faster pc as well ADDED: Nvm, just realised that you said fixed disk, and I was using removeable. Disregard this post lol

I tested this with an 8gb verbatim usb pendrive and I got "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key". Strange because I used the same procedure that I used to make the lexar usb, and the lexar can still boot into win7 setup. I have the pre-slipstreamed win7 iso (that I made the other day) and used Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to burn the iso, so I don't see why it's different. They are both single partition NTFS. Added: It may be a defective verbatim usb from what I've read, so I'll buy another one
