I can guarantee you that you will find a seedy place to download w98se on some P2P network. Probably with all the patches. But it probably illegal.

Some apps have been put in a .CAB format that can be integrated. See

Others you have to add manually using unattended setups. See the Unattended CD/DVD Guide.

Although tonight i had a bit of a intense experience...
My old motherboard got killed, SATA header just pulled out of the mobo and one IDE just decided to fry itself and the BIOS acted "funny", all within 2 weeks. So company gave me a new motherboard, and as I was swopping the CPU it fell and some pins bent. Righted them and installed no problem, put on power ... nothing. Oh oh. Try again, nothing. Try again. Nothing. Pray. Try again, perfect. Wierd
Build own is best, especially in this country (ZA). Pre-build is VERY expensive.

Very happy, regular firmware updates (every month), no coasters yet
O ja, paid R650 ($90), but here in South Africa computer stuff is expensive

Open up explorer, then set to list. Then without entering any directories close explorer. It should then save the eplorer settings.

Does the folder have cacheable contents? For example does it contain images, video, etc that Windows tries to cache, or pre-read for a thumbnail picture?

Just had a look at the laptop specs: P3-300Mhz Celeron with 192M RAM. That should really be more than enough to run XP. I was running a nLited version without a problom on a P2-300 with 128M RAM. Yes it wasn't the fastest thing but worked. So XP is doable without a problem if you are thinking of heading that route.
