Same error here. I have tried updating the root certificates and it looks like there is a report because without it I get error 800B0003 "the form specified for the subject is not supported or known by the specified trust provider" and after 800B0100 like you and Dave.
In my case I downloaded archive.org version from December 2019 and it worked : https://web.archive.org/web/20191209214827/http://download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab
For Wsusoffilne, wsusscn2.cab is in client/wsus but when the process is launch it's erase the file, so... unusable.
You wouldn't mind sharing the MD5 or any file hash you desire for that Dec 2019 wsusscn2.cab so I can ensure what I downloaded isn't corrupt? appreciate it!

Sorry for the quote spam. I just want to point out that those are file hashes listed in both of these recent posts, which is NOT the same thing as Microsoft's SHA1 signing key. These are just useful for checking for file integrity after a download to ensure that the downloaded file is identical to the original.

Anyone got an ISO of wsusoffline updates for Office XP? There was a user going by Cababs on the wsusoffline forum I wanted to contact, because he claimed he had it; however, my attempts at creating a user account on the forum failed, because I never received any activation emails. I received no activation email at neither my outlook.com address nor my gmail address.
thanks

most common excuse from software developers is it's an outdated OS...
XP is actually only 8 months older than W7
millions of XP users switched to a more recent OS because they knew nothing about web browser alternatives @roytam1
NT 5.1 is almost 20 years old...?

Thanks. Now I understand... and I don't.
I mean I get your explanation, but I cannot compile all the back-logic behind this kind of legislation. What about the 1st amendment? But jokes aside, I've read somewhere that one is allowed to publish information, even describing illegal activity in details, as long as it is not convincing anyone to do real harm, and here you cannot inform others how to do things they can legally do o.O There is some major thing, some thinking paradigm I don't get in here.Sometimes i'm happy to live in a country that tries to catch up west and still fails, so I can do whatever I want with my own hardware and software for my personal use.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits government restriction on speech (unless it is a death threat or cause for treason), press, assembly (peaceably), religion, or petitioning the government in times of grievance. So, yes, in terms of free speech, I can for instance, put a sign in my front yard that says something absolutely horrible, and the government cannot prohibit me from displaying it. However, you may still bear consequences if someone comes up and decides to burn down your house, in which they'll be charged with arson, but otherwise anything can be said. Unfortunately, people are attacking these basic rights that everyone should bear, not understanding what consequences they would receive if this amendment were to ever be repealed.
QuoteCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Generic PCL HP driver should work with it, but you won't get any other features other than "basic printing" if it has any other features.

It's not necessarily Netgear that has support for XP. It's whether the chipset manufacturer, typically Mediatek (Ralink) or Realtek, has produced a driver for XP.

Graphics cannot be upgraded in a laptop like that.
For memory upgrade, check to see what your maximum memory can be. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=4158455&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c00820047#N10058
I think it's probably 8GB 1066MHz DDR3, but don't take my word on it. I don't have your exact model number. The link above tells you what to do.

Off-topic, but I got a scare a few days ago when I went to install Flash Player 24 on my 2007 MacBook running Mac OS X 10.7.5 (the highest it supports), and the download page stated that OS X 10.9 or higher is required! I thought Adobe had ended support for older Mac OS versions even before they ended support for Windows XP and Vista.
But then the next day, the Flash Player update notification pop-up came up, and I was able to successfully download and install Flash Player 24 on OS X 10.7.5. The download page now no longer says that any specific Mac OS version is required, either, even though Adobe's Tech Specs page still says that 10.9 or higher is required:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html
Also notable is that they finally brought the Linux NPAPI version of Flash Player up to the current release, instead of being stuck with the 11.x "Extended Support Release". (They also recently ended the ESR for the Windows and Mac OS NPAPI plugin.)
Sounds like they're trying to save it from death.

GX280? Open that sucker up and see if any capacitors are leaking. Those things were notorious for horrible caps Dell and several other companies used at the time.

Nothing out of the ordinary in the .ini, it might be the edition - Windows XP Professional (Media Center v4.0) SP4 - 5.1.2600.6748 - English (United States).
Regardless of Nlite, check if the following directories exist:
%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\YOURCURRENTUSERNAME\Start Menu\Programs
and
%SystemDrive%\Documents and settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
and if not, create the directory structure (that directory and any above it, if missing).
(%SystemDrive% is usually C:)

I'm not sure why it said the edition was Media Center. It was a pure XP Pro VL SP3 iso. Anyway, I made my changes without slipstreaming harkaz's pack then installed the pack afterwards and everything was there. Only change I had to make was to sysoc.inf in .\Windows because of the Windows Components in Add and Remove Programs throwing errors about missing files. (duh, because I removed them!)
I'll play around with it, because I wanted to slipstream it; not have to install and cleanup afterwards.

I've had this issue in the past and never could pin-point what was causing it. I think it's one of the tweaks I'm making, since some copies of XP I sent through nLite didn't do this.
I slipstreamed harkaz SP4 v3.1b (almost immediately after it came out since I messaged him about it), but this isn't the problem.
I've attempted to figure out what was causing this before. I searched Google and here. I'm probably not wording my searches correctly if anyone else has posted on this.
I've attached my last session ini. LAST SESSION.INI

I posted this a long time ago it's a bug in the KB2926765 update (shlwapi.dll) MickySoft never fixed it and in 2 month we can celebrate the 1st anniversary of this bug.
This is what I was looking for. I knew I saw something about this somewhere, but I didn't know what to search for. Yes, all I did was unpin the IE and pin the normal Firefox shortcut. This XP is running on an old Dimension 1100 with an ext hdd for a samba share.

I'm sure this has been reported, and there is probably a fix. I tried Googling it and searching for it here to no avail. I probably just wasn't wording my search correctly.
My problem: the Internet icon in the start menu will not change to the default browser or to the one specified as it is supposed to do. My default browser is set to Mozilla Firefox (for obvious reasons) and even set in the start menu settings, but it doesn't reflect on the Internet icon.
Microsoft update didn't work either, but I saw the thread here about it and downgraded the muweb.dll to x.256 or whatever it was. I do have the POS update registry edit if that makes any difference.
This copy of Windows XP was installed yesterday. It has updates from onepiece slipstreamed (by nLite).
