Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Tihiy's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
As a new ME installation(my laptop died),I tried running the installation and it said I need the GDI+ runtime for the configured program. How do I get the GDI+ to install RP 9.7?As I recall, the laptop did not have this error. -
Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I should be able to connect the hard drive to a seperate computer(as external)and get my files out.Just I don't want to damage everything else,as I probably will knock everything out while getting the drive out.- 21 replies

Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I think I know what has been the cause. It was updating, and at one update it stopped completely:which is death for Windows. There was no way out,and waiting wouldn't help,as I already did for a few days.Maybe I need an Emergency Floppy,or XP CD?- 21 replies

Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Thanks,I removed the hard drive from the machine, and I ordered an SCSI wire to plug into a working computer.Today apparently the continuous beeping stopped. It's quite weird.- 21 replies

Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Oh god, today I started it up and it won't even show the hard drive message. The loading bar gets to the end,and it beeps so quick I thought the computer would explode. But it still boots to the BIOS and Boot Menu. The thing that is on the hard drive "cd" like one of those old music players has trouble and keeps scratching.I think that thing scratched the hell out of the hard drive.- 21 replies

Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
It does indeed smell like something is burnt, and when I restart it makes noises like "cling".Maybe the power for the hard drive wire burned out?- 21 replies

Dead hard drive?
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Briansurvivedwindowsme's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I don't know,as in the BIOS it says "Hard Drive Not Installed",as well as "Floppy Disk Drive A: Not Installed",but the IDE CD-ROM Device says it works. Also,I saw this after an update.Maybe that update was fatal and killed it.- 21 replies

Ok,so one day I booted up my Windows XP computer(specs below) and it said"Primary hard disk drive 0 failure" "Strike the F1 key to continue,F2 to run setup utility" I had no clue what happened.Virus?I have N360.I think the thing may be a hard drive failure after all.I need a way to get my important files back, and even restore WinXP on the computer. Is there any way? Specs:Windows XP Professional, Dell Optiplex GX260, Intel Celeron Processor,750 mhz.

Revolutions Pack 9.7
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Tihiy's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Sorry Briansurvivedwindowsme, but working fine here: Longhorn4008.png I have compare my 'Longhorn 4008' folder with the 'XstyleThemePack_XTP_.exe' one, and they are strictly identical. Must be some error in your copy. Try to reinstall this folder after unzipping the exe. HTH I reinstalled RP9 and nothing changed at all. -

I also was running them together for years with mostly no problems and no graphical glitches. Briansurvivedwindowsme, have you installed all the updates, required by Revolutions Pack? Could they be overwritten by some other installation? As I recall, some graphical glitches could occur if some required dlls (or exes) were not updated or updated to other versions. yep,i installed all the updates required.no installation messed with the clock area.i checked everything compared to my fresh Win98 computer with RP9,and all the files where there without modifications. -

its Longhorn 4008 theme.Just go to http://rp9.win98.nl/RP9/Themes/XstyleThemePack_XTP_.exe when you download it,just do the instructions there.there is a readme.txt i think for directions -
Revolutions Pack 9.7
Briansurvivedwindowsme replied to Tihiy's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Hmm, it's weird. The picture is there, and everything is right. I noticed now that when the computer starts, the task at isn't loaded yet and the clock area is fine, just without the clock writing and stuff. But when the taskbar loads, the clock area becomes white, and the text loads. It's as if windows ME unloads it or something. It happens all the time, with other themes as well. -
lol, found out objectbar actually installed.i just had to search through the C: drive for the program. it is a bit glitchy but thats all right.i luv kernel ex!
-
Yeah,I guess no winxp drivers for me.Another program is having trouble. Its Stardock ObjectDesktop now. When I use kernel ex to have Windows 2000 or Windows XP compatibility, the setup starts, but at the very end there is an error that says it can't find Cacls.exe and the setup exits without finishing. As far as I know this is some kind of permissions program in Windows NT.Is there any way I can bypass the error and finish the setup successfully or patch in Cacls.exe to Windows ME? Psst...I'm trying to make my computer look more like Windows Longhorn since I love it.I even put longhorn sounds, and now I want a sidebar to match up perfectly.

Hmm,seems that kernel ex is getting along with revolutions pack.-.happens. -
hmm, idk.i tried compatibility with Windows XP SP2 and it doesn't open anything.I tried compatibility with Windows Vista, and there was an error message. At least the setup opened and said it was aborted or something like that.

I installed kernel ex 4.5.2 on my windows ME system now,but when I try to launch setup for Netgear Wnda3100v2 network adapter(for windows xp)it still says that I need to upgrade my operating system.Any solutions for this?
