  1. Looks like vsergps.sys is part of the Mitac Virtual GPS System. File version 2.0.0.1. I could not, however, find any information on the Mitac website or on the websites of any of the brands they own (Magellan, Mio, or Navman) about this Virtual GPS software. I spoke to Getac (the brand of computer I'm dealing with), and it appears that they've rebranded the Virtual GPS software as their own. It's a virtual port splitter and allows multiple virtual ports to use the GPS signal coming through the physical port. MapPoint was using it because it was pointing to one of the virtual COM ports for its GPS signal. I uninstalled the software, deleted the driver, and removed the "Multi-Serial Port" from Device Manager. This should resolve the problem. Again, I couldn't have done this without y'all's help. I greatly appreciate your expertise.
  2. Okay, so I started the Driver Verifier, and then the vehicle got driven during a couple of 12 hour shifts. It looks like the system crashed sometime on the 12th, so I grabbed the memory dump and the minidump and then disabled Driver Verifier. I have uploaded the dumps here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=AF7B9F3BAAA41FB7%21114 Thanks again, everyone.
  3. Thanks very much, everyone. I'll get to work on Driver Verifier and see what I can find out.
  4. We recently installed a new laptop (Getac V110) in one of our fleet vehicles. I have gotten reports that users are getting a blue screen anywhere between 2 and 4 times in a 12-hour shift. I got a memory dump from the machine, but I don't have the resources to personally troubleshoot it. I wondered if I could get some assistance from the experts on this forum, as y'all have been very helpful for me in the past. The memory dump can be found here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=AF7B9F3BAAA41FB7%21160 Thanks in advance for any help you can provide, Justin
  5. Thanks very much for the information. I'll get this laptop back to Getac. It's difficult/impossible to fully control CPU temperatures for an in-car computer in Texas summers.
  6. First, let me thank the users of this forum for solving a shutdown problem for me last time I posted. Now, one particular computer in our fleet is freezing at apparently random times. Sometimes it will run for a while before freezing, other times it will freeze shortly after bootup. I have three minidumps and a memory dump on my OneDrive account and wondered if anyone could take a look at them and help me figure out what is causing the lock up. If there is anything else I need to provide, please let me know. I'm running Windows 7 32-bit Enterprise on a Getac B300 laptop. I have neither the skills nor the tools to figure this problem out. Thanks in advance, Justin https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=AF7B9F3BAAA41FB7%21114
  7. Y'all are fantastic. Thanks. I've just disabled biometrics in BIOS, so we'll see how that works. I'm looking forward to seeing these machines operate properly. Thanks again!
  8. Thank you. I found that article yesterday and sat down this morning to work through it, but I discoverd that I don't have the requisite version of Visual Studio to download the Windows Performance Toolkit. I have some of the remote debugging tools for VS 2005, but nothing else. Unless I am mistaken (which is not unlikely) I need at least VS 2010 SP1. I'm going to have to work with our Technology Services Department to get that software so I can move forward on that front.
  9. You'll have to excuse me. This posted 3 times. Please delete two of them
  10. I am assisting my agency in the deployment of ruggedized laptops in a fleet of vehicles. The laptops are the Getac B300 running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (32 bit), with Intel Core i7-3520M processors and 4 GB of RAM. Currently, we have about 50 units deployed, but we will be adding another 60 within the next year. Each laptop is received from the manufacturer and imaged by our Technology Services Department. The two bugs we can't seem to get past are random freezing and a shutdown process that sometimes never ends. Regarding the freezing, it happens at random times. Users could be on the internet or using a Public Safety application, or the computer could be idle. It doesn't appear to happen during any particular process, so it's been beyond us to resolve. Likewise, the computers will sometimes get into the shutdown mode that never ends. It doesn't always happen, and it doesn't seem to matter if it's attached to the docking station (manufactured specifically for the Getac B300) or not. Below is a link to the memory dump from one of the computers that has been freezing over the last couple of days. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=AF7B9F3BAAA41FB7%21114 Could someone take a look at this and try to help me understand what is causing the freezing? Also, if you can speak to the shutdown problem as well, that would be tremendous. Thanks, Justin
