Almost everybody has this problem including me, bigmuscle is working on fixing this issue but it might take some time to rectify it

Delaying from the scheduler won't solve the issue somehow gotta delay the injection via the dll so it's as slow as the debug build ... only way I can think of to try and fix this issue that alot of people have

@bigmuscle is there a way to delay the injection of WICImagingFactory by the .dll just so its as slow as the debug version? Just to see if it is the case of it injecting too quick

illuzi0n: could you (and others with same problem) try at least temporary solution by editing "Aero Glass" task in Task Scheduler and setting some startup delay? E.g. 10 seconds (page Triggers > Edit > check Delay task for)

Soilbreaker: please enable verbose logging (see website guide how to that) and then provide full debug.log. Your symbols seems not to be loaded for some reason.

Even with delay of 10 seconds still getting same error mate still have to restart dwm to remove black box

It seems that it failed to hook WICImageFactory (it works here, but if I remove this hook it behaves the same way). When my s***ty internet connection starts working, I will upload debug build if shows if it is this problem.

So please, download this build: http://glass8.berlios.de/stuff/DWMGlassDebugBuild.7z and provide debug log after the error appears. This build is intended to generate error log when glow hook fails and also to generate more startup logs (so if anyone has problem that glass is not working but aerohost.exe is running, use it too and provide debug.log). Just replace DWMGlass.dll and restart aerohost.exe and dwm.exe.

BTW with debug build i dont get black box after restart

Changed back to original 1.0 glass.dll and got black box again so there is something fishy between debug and official glass.dll

And what happens when glow mode is set to zero (to completely disable it)?

same thing, even with glow mode set to 0 after a computer restart the black box appears. Only by restarting dwm fixes the issue for some reason

dont know if this helps but i dont get any error after a restart in the debug.log except for:

Soukyuu: Your log is invalid as it comes from some very old Windows 8 version.

dzup: already answered - you have invalid permission on donation key. Error 5 means "Access denied".

for those who have glow problem - what is your TextGlowMode settings?

good to see quite a few people here are experiencing the same problem with 1.0

my text glow mode is set to 1 and size is set to 0, ive tried all other modes and still comes with a rectangular box once you restart your computer.

Why is it when i restart computer i get a black rectangular box around the glowing text, but when i restart the dwm by the aero glass configurator it shows glowing text without the black box surrounding the text like its supposed to from the start.

Every time i restart comp i have to open the configurator and press apply to remove the black rectangular box

I've been using AeroGlass from the very first beta for Windows 8. Now I've moved to Windows 8.1 and still been using it, a really nice piece of software however, even with the most recent version I cannot understand how to get window titles glow effect and aero stripes as seen in all the screenshots here, I've got the transparency, yes, but nothing else I've downloaded some theme resources pngs, noelc's glow.bmp, put them all in the AeroGlass folder, even played with AeroConfigurator but to no avail. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance

After applying this to my registry and restarting my comp, when i open regedit the glow is there but other folders like c drive and all others dont have the glow like my regedit.. must be missing something
