Very minimal skin, removes all color and reduces border contrast in favor of increased blur radius and shadowing to draw separation between elements.

The settings necessary for the look in the attached screenshot are:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"BlurDeviation"=dword:00000064"ColorizationColor"=dword:00ffffff"ColorizationColorBalance"=dword:00000064"ColorizationAfterglow"=dword:00ffffff"ColorizationAfterglowBalance"=dword:0000000a"ColorizationBlurBalance"=dword:0000000f"EnableWindowColorization"=dword:00000001"ColorizationGlassAttribute"=dword:00000001"ColorizationColorCaption"=dword:00ffffff"ColorizationColorBalanceInactive"=dword:00000064
The glow should appear as a duotone: subtle white on black, and a faint gray on white, so that it's not intrusive or out of place.

    Update 1:  Restore button fix

    Update 2 (11-14-14):

    - fixed 1px incorrect alpha on left window border

    - changed all window borders to match alpha of restore/min/max buttons for smoother look

    - added full transparency for captions and borders (reg settings handle the luminosity)

    - added BlurDeviation of 100 to enhance caption legibility

    - aligned the duotune shadow more accurately behind caption and with each other

Anybody know how to get this full translucent effect w/blur in Windows 10?  The theme file is obviously old and needs a layout file, but the registry settings don't seem to make any white parts translucent regardless.

  2. Hi all-  I've been mostly a lurker, but using aeroglass and watching the forum for awhile.  I'm thinking this might be a limitation within Windows, but is it possible to dissociate the opacity level of active vs. inactive frames?  Basically, I want the active frame to be rich blue, with slight transparency, and have the inactive frame be essentially colorless, but transparent with blurred background.  Every time I try tweaking the levels in the registry for inactive frames, they turn dark, when I want them to turn more transparent.  Anybody have any ideas?

EDIT:  Also, is there some sort of theme creation tool for the Custom Atlas png files?  Or is it just hand-editing?

  3. The problem is that Aero Glass is already running and the files are in use.

Possibly the easiest way to update the software after it's already installed is to rename the 6 existing files (I put _RC2 at the end), then copy the new files from the .7z file into the same folder. Then reboot.

This works because Windows allows you to rename a file that's in use.

Thanks for the tip... I did create a new (previously unusued) folder and unzip the files to it, and then ran the install.bat from there. Still though I get that error.

  4. I got this message "ERROR: cannot create a file when that file already exists" while installing RC3. I had already ended aerohost.exe and dwm.exe, deleted minidump.dmp, debug.log, moved symbols folder out of the Aeroglass folder and left licence.key as is then copied the RC3 files over the RC2 files. There is nothing in the new debug.log to say which file gave the error. RC3 was working when install.bat completed but I decided to reboot because of this error but nothing appears broken.

I'm getting this same error, and while I can manually run aerohost.exe and get it to work, it doesn't run when I log in. What am I doing wrong?

  5. BigMuscle- Any way to make 100% transparent theme areas (from the themeatlas.png file) *not* get their background blurred, while anything with any other level of transparency would still be? I'm thinking it would be easier to make a rounded corner version theme that way, instead of adding padding to the shadow areas (which then encapsulates the buttons and doesn't look right, IMO).

    Thanks!

  6. Windows 7 (beta2) Theme - Adapted from win8cp.png, but with Windows 7 buttons.

Windows 7 (beta4) Theme - stardard8win7.png, but with Windows 7 buttons, and slightly lighter shadows. The frames on this look more like Windows 7.

  7. I'm having an issue with Thunderbird, where the maximized window has problems in the titlebar. This was also present with the previous beta. Not a huge deal but figured I'd report it.

Also, as a contribution back to the community, I present a "Windows 7" theme, which I'm currently calling beta1. It's a modification of win8cp.png using Windows 7 type buttons, which have rounding on the edges. Enjoy!

EDIT: Found an issue already, so here's beta2. Also, anyone who can help me figure out rounded corners (a la Windows 7)?

  8. I tried beta 2 a couple of days ago and found the same thing as infinality. The window (top title bar of course) is transparent, but isn't blurred. I tried playing around with the DWM settings, but to no avail. This occurred both with the standard Windows themes and another Windows 8.1 theme I tried. Adding ColorizationBlurBalanceInactive (from memory...) to the registry just resulted in a error window.

Sorry couldn't be any more descriptive than that, I should have paid more attention before disabling it!

Thanks... at least I know I'm not alone. ;)

  9. I'm having a problem with the blur functionality. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. When a window is fully maximized, the blur works correctly on the top area of the window. When it's a normal window though, the only part that is blurred is a horizontal strip at the very top of the window perhaps 5px tall and the whole length of the window. The rest of the window decoration has no blur. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?
