Here's the screenshot of the taskbar.
I guess it is the same problem as with the Win8.1 login screen - all solid-color surfaces are currently initialized as glass region to be sure that the glass effect works even when DWM is not compatible.
Race condition? Like I said, dev builds didn't do this afaik.

Don't get me wrong, Aero Glass is really great, but as a graphics "freak" I wonder if the glass effect could be updated to be more like the real glass effect in Windows 7? Currently the glass effect is using a simple overlay with opacity, while Windows 7 is using a combination of a normal overlay and a blend mode called "Multiply" in Photoshop.
Maybe you can modify reflection a bit to make it look more similar, might be worth a try. I too think the reflection is a bit sharp in Windows 8 and 10.

I tested some more and like I mentioned in the dev thread, it now applies custom reflection before the user login so the secondary screen looks very weird (black with the reflection image tiled), it disappears when the user logs in.
And it also applies reflection on the taskbar, but disappears after a short time too.
Dev versions had no such problems.
Unfortunately I can't capture a screenshot because it happes prelogin. I'll try to take a of the taskbar.

Hmmm noticed something when I restarted with 1.4 installed.
It applied the custom reflection for a short time on the secondary screen when logging in... and also on the taskbar.
Never saw the dev versions do that.

Well... Microsoft should hire bigmuscle. Thanks for 1.4.

The "spooky" Aero Glass watermark under the start menu and action center seems to be fixed. I don't see it anymore.
Firefox 43.0a1 Nightly is not being handled by Aero Glass properly, the entire window border is grey instead of transparent, it's been like this for a while.
I checked in Windows 7 and it's not grey when using that but maybe it's a Windows 10 thing, the developer theme actually looks better in Windows 10 then Windows 7 (reminds me a bit of Edge).
Btw, I saw (a bit late) that Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10525 is out, haven't tried it tho'.
Anyone know if Aero Glass works with that?

How do I use ModernFrame.dll with schedular.bat, already have Aero Glass working? Previously had it working with AppInit_DLLs method.
You have to use AppInit_DLLs ... see the posts above but only include modernframe.dll, not dwmglass.dll.

I've noticed a possible slight bug in your water mark BM.
In the attached shot, on first boot, it can be seen a magnified blurry watermark on my start menu.
Also it happens on the action center too.
It not simply visible because of the transperency- it shouldn't be on the start menu, and is much higher and larger on the action centre than the desktop position.
Could you explain this?
-sean
edit, it seems only to happen if the background is selected to picture.. not solid.
Also, the usual watermark is not visible via print screenfor the primary display.. but is on the second monitor.
Different picture to help
Yes, I see it when I expand the Action Center, the watermark should be under the buttons, instead it's above them and magnified. (it's also visbile on the start menu)

You can't hide dwm.exe window easily, it's possible but not intended, do you really think BM left the window on the desktop for you to remove it? But of course, if you think Aero Glass stable and you manage to hide it, good for you I guess.
I hide the dwm.exe window and the modernframes one simply by creating another desktop, and moving them to it. Out of sight, out of mind!
Good tip, then it's not actually hidden by any 3rd party app. It just sits on another Windows 10 virtual desktop.

Please try to keep this thread to Aero Glass. General opinions about the Windows 10 UI does not belong here, just makes the thread diificult to follow.

How does appinit work when used with modernframe, does it inject modernframe into every single process?

Just installed the new Classic Shell menu and I'm very impressed.
There are some very nice settings for the taskbar too.
Plays very nice with Aero Glass, also.
why install Windows 10 if you are going to use Classic Shell:
I guess you never tried it.
Take a chance, you may like it.
I set it so I can use the stock (MS) menu with just a middle click of my mouse brings it up.
And, just for what you can do with the taskbar settings, it' well worth installing it.
So, try it. You can uninstall it if you don't like it.
LOL, why would I go back to a start menu which I hated? The windows 7 start menu is horrible. I love the Windows 10 Start Menu. It is in the realm of the gods!
OT:
Good for you but you shouldn't be negative to people if they want to install another start menu.
You make it sound like the start menu is the core of the operating system,
I myself find the new start menu a bit lacking, especially when you click All Apps, that menu is big and cluttered.
BUT I like the ability to have live tiles/apps on the menu.

Minimize doesn't get rid of the dwm icon in the taskbar tho', that bugs me a bit too. And no, I'm not killing conhost.
Btw, Aero Glass for build 10240 seems stable for me.

bigmuscle, does it really need to reload settings this often? Not sure what triggered it.

here a blue atlas for 10240.
Very nice indeed, an alternative version could be that the window close button is slightly red instead of blue and highlights to even more red when hovering over it.
* Oh, just after I commented I noticed the post above. It's kind of what I suggested.

Seems to work better for me if I don't use any custom theme atlases.
The only graphical glitch I've seen right now is that sometimes when you close dwm.exe it causes the start menu tile grid to look a bit weird if you hover over them.
To fix that I log out and in again.

Nice job, seems to hang together here. Seems to work with my theme atlas (which by the way you're welcome to distribute with the product if you want).
I seem to have lost the ability to adjust my FrameMargin setting somewhere along the way. Borders are all very thin now.

There's no top white border on steam/photoshop windows anymore, I think there used to be?
There's also a space between the border and the actual startmenu layout on the right side of the start menu, view against a white background with text to see it easier.

New version is good, but theme win8cp work not correct for me:
Are you really using the provided win8cp theme in the root of the zip-file? You seem to be using an old version.

Just to be clear...to install this on 10240 for the first time, we need to install the 1.3.1 version for 8.1 and then replace the files with the ones in the debug build?
That's what I did, install 1.3.1, kill aerohost and desktop window manager. Then replace the files and run the aerohost task from the task scheduler.

The start menu now has border around it. On top there's even a double border.

TBH after using Win10 without aero glass i've gotten used to the look. Doesn't mean I like it but I can live with it now,

Never had the watermark appearing in any game, but I might not be on the same dev build tho'.
