  1. hi, the MSFN unattend method of install is really great and we will be using it across our Organisation. Is there anybody out there who has managed to change the GUI shown in RUNONCEEX? I dont mind using the provided one but is this able to be changed into something different? Im not interested in using a HTML type based one where you select the apps to install as my users cant log on let alone choose software! thanks
  2. Dan, My names dan BTW.... Im a bit confused by the HAL.INF! It looks like there are s***loads of hardware vendor motherboard details in one big INF. A 5gb image is slighty big! what the hell you got on it! Are you in a big company over in ireland? Dan
  3. Dan, This sounds quite interesting, You could if you are going to do this just do a RIPREP image, replacing the HAL with a script in CMDLINES.TXT, right? Im not into unattended installs too heavily but i do have 3000 machines with about 10 being all the same! Ive looked at resetting the HAL but didnt think it was possible....
  4. Hi, has anyone deployed this application using SMS? It has its own setup.exe.... would it be better to compile an MSI or is there a resource kit where i can create an MST type file to use with SMS? I have read about using a resource file but im not too sure on how to implement. thanks
  5. sorry radimus i did read the KB but it looked like it didnt do what you stated. i could join the machine using the .sif and this is soemthing ive considered BUT wont the Autologon.reg entry mean that the machine logs on using the local account created when installing?????? I guess i could turn the registry setting off on the last step of my autorunex.cmd and join the machine to the domain there using NETDOM, would you agree?
  6. thanks...but that wont allow me to join the domain, or will it?
  7. Hi guys, New to the unattended install thing (been lazy in the past with imaging and riprep) however, these are my current stages ive got to 1. Created xp cd with OEM 2. created runonceex.cmd/autologon.reg/useraccounts.bat and cmdlines.txt My problem is this.... how can i join the machine to the domain as i would do with the .sif file and [identification]? Then delete the logon created in useraccounts.bat (for administration purposes)? I have to roll out 3000 desktops so joining each one to the domain isnt feasible! Would it be possible to run the "runonceex.cmd" and the MSI's with a "Runas" type command when the standard domainuser logs on with no admin rights? thanks
  8. Hi, I have wasted a whole week trying to get RIPrep to work with no comfortable knowledge that it is going to work on a range of systems easily. So...i stumbled across this site and i now have the Unattend option! My query is this for anyone.....can i deploy the image via RIS? The way i see it i do my big DVD, add the new image to RIS by inserting my CD rom and i should have a image on RIS which it thinks is FLAT not SYSPREP, it installs XP.....then runs the Batch file using [guirunonce] and its complete? My image only requires Outlook/AV/Winzip/Adobe PDF/and SP2....but will this be the same size as a RIPrep'd image? Also when the image installs and runs GUIRUNONCE will the application deployment be visable to the user? any help is greatly appreciated.
