  1. So I recently bought a new Inspiron that came with Windows7 64bit Premium and I want to slim it down. I followed the guide at the top of this forum to the letter but keep running into problems, mainly an error message from vlite and the fact that the install never seems to actually shrink. When rebuilding I get an error message that reads: Error while rebuilding the image -The system cannot find the file specified This and the install.wim file never seems to shrink (it stays at around 4.5 GB) and I can't get a working vlited image. One thing odd to note, this is an official Dell DVD however vlite lists it as a Bulgarian copy and when installing windows the language select options are a bunc of odd ones and English is about 5th down... I can't imagine that makes a difference, but thought it was worth mentioning. Thanks for any help!
  2. So I need to push out an audio driver, silently to a bunch of PCs. I got it going and it installs fine completely invisibly, but after the install the box pops up that says that the driver has not passed the Windows Logo process, do you want to install? I need to silently say yes. I have set the GPO for unsigned driver install to silently succeed and I can't find a policy for unsignednondriver anywhere to set... I even set the local policies and went to control panel system and checked ignore for signed driver checking. I have tried numerous registry edits and I have even tried to hexedit the syssteup.dll file (could not find the appropriate string to edit). Nothing works. I even tried the program dspdsblr but it doens't work... keeps popping that box up. Any advice or help on this would be very appreciate... I am totally stuped ast o how I can bypass that box.. thanks in advance!
  3. I tried putting in the line "automaticupdates=no" but when I get into windows it has turned on autoupdates. I want to make sure autoupdates is completely off for my unattended install. Any idea or help? Thanks in advance. I am an id***, I need to turn off the firewall not the auto updates... I found the part about turning off the firewall but I am still a bit unclear. Can someone show me exactly what I would need to have to turn off the firewall under any circumstances but still have it available?
