  1. come down jcarle, don't need to get all bent out of shape. if you don't want to help, nobody asked you. I listen to everyone's advise and then I make my final decision. I already have put a lot of your guys help into work. Also jcarle, nobody is telling you to comment on this topic either. Zxian want me to go with the WD5000AAKS Model and I wanted the 500GB Model. I am gona go with this. Regarding the Raptor subject, I haven't bought the HD yet. Something might change my mind before I order it, but as it stands now, I am planning to get it. Thx for all the help guys and yes even you jcarle. P.S. Fusion
  2. Hey Guys, after a lot of thinking and looking around, I have made my decision on which HD's I am gona get. They all the following: 1) I still plan to get the Raptor or Raptor X (I just can't let it go)! 2) WD Caviar SE16 drives (WD5000AAKS) (500GB)! 2) Barracuda® 7200.10 Desktop Hard Drives (ST3500630AS - 500GB) or Barracuda® 7200.11 Desktop Hard Drives (ST3500620AS - 500GB) If the $$ is right. So what you guys think of my choices. If anything needs to be changed, please let me know. Thank you for al your help! P.S. Fusion
  3. Hey Guys, I have been using Creative's Products for a while and I was really p***ed of when I started to use Vista and the Drivers were really bad. So for the next Rig I am building I want to try something new and that something new is "The New Asus Xonar D2 Sound Card." I just got three reviews that I am gona go threw and if everything is good, I am planning to get this Sound Card. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on this card. I know that this sound card in not for gamer because of the EAX Stuff, for me that is OK, cause I don't play a lot of games either. Also will there be a BIG difference between the PCI and PCI-E Version? This Sound Card will be used for Music, DVD Play-Back, TV and Watching other Videos. I play games here and there. I play Need For Speed Titles for sure. So if you guys can share your opinion on this card, it would really help me out. Thank you for all your help. P.S. Fusion
  4. Hey Guys, I was just wondering, do I really need to do RAID for my storage drives. I haven't don't it in the past and I have read on Post#50 that more the 2TB is not supported, so I was thinks why bother with RAID at all. You guys tell me if I should do it or not. Also I want to say thank you for the info on Raptor vs 2 WD HD. I will look into that steup. Heck if I get what I want with the 2 HD RAID Setup verus the Raptor, I will go the cheaper way. THX! P.S. Fusion
  5. A lot of useful information to read and help me make my final decision. Just to give you guys a heads up, I don't plan to do RAID. I have never setup RAID, ever. So I don't plan to do it now. Regarding the Raptor Subject, the reason I want the Raptor is because of it 10,000 RPM and the Seek time. Having the Raptor as the Main HD for the system will help in overall Performance, In my opinion. If I am wrong, please let me know. The other drives I plan to put in will just be Storage HD's. Either 2TB or 4TB. I haven't decided on how may TB's I need as of storage. Also if you guys don't mind telling me what are the Pros and Cons of RAID. To tell you guys the truth, the reason I have never setup RAID is because I never needed too. The system I am running right now has 300GB Maxtor and a another 250GB Maxtor and I have never had any problems as of lost data so far. Hopefully it will say that way. I know you need two of the same HD's in order to do RAID. Also about spending money on the Raptor, I know I can get 2 WD 500GB HD's for that same price, but like ripken204 said, I wanna see the Raptor Performance in my new system running Vista! THX for all the input!
  6. Thx for the info, I guess when the HD comes out for everyone, the price might come down to what I want to pay. So would you guys recommend me: 1 HD will me Raptor (Main HD) 3 - 4 Seagate 7200.11 HD for Storage or Should I look at Western Digital WD5000AAKS HD? Thx for all the help and I hope we get some good reviews on the Seagate 7200.11 HD's Soon!
  7. Hey Guys, I did a quick Price Check for the Seagate 7200.11-series and the lowest price I saw was $169. I do like this hard drive, but I hope the price comes down on this HD or else I am not gona spend that kinda money when I can get the same HD Size (500GB) for lest money.
  8. Thx for the input guys. Just for FYI, will I be able to find reviews on the "Seagate HD - Barracuda 7200.11 SATA 3Gb/s NCQ 500GB 16MB Cache Hard Drive"? Hey Guys, I was just thinking, Do I really need a High-End HD for storage. I mean I am already gona buy the Raptor for my Main OS Drive. Why buy a expensive storage drive. What's your guys opinion in this. I was look at spending $100 and $120 being the max. Do I really need an expensive drive for storage? THX!
  9. Ok Guys, here is my list that I have narrowed down too. All these are 500GB HD's and I need to know which one fits my needs and once again my need are the following things: Not To Hot Good Performance Quiet So if you guys can tell me which HD or HD's I should look at, it will really help me out. Then that way I can start to do my research and reviews on the HD's. Maxtor (My Old friend) Maxtor Basics ATA 100 Hard Drive Kit - 500GB (Part # L01Y500) Western Digital - WD Caviar SE16 (Model WD5000AAKS) Seagate HD - Barracuda 7200.11 SATA 3Gb/s NCQ 500GB 16MB Cache Hard Drive Samsung SpinPoint T166 (Model HD501LJ) THX for all the help!
  10. Hey guys, if you don't mind, can you recommend me models of Which HD's I should look at. If you can. If you guys are busy, don't worry about it. I will look at the HDs and I will share my selection with you guys. Thx for all the help!
  11. Man guys, I am learning a lot from you guys. I guess it looking more like either Seagate or WD. Also I wanted to know if someone know the model number for the Raptor X, the one without the clear panel. I looked around and I couldn't find it. Why spend extra if I dont' even plan to look at the HD once it's inside. So if someone knows the model number, please let me know. Thx!
  12. I do like WD Hard Drives and that why I was planning to get the Raptor X. In the past I had Big problems with WD HD's. They were getting HOT and use to make a lot of noise. I have heard a lot of good this about WD HD's these days. I will look in your choice. THX!
  13. Hye Guys, now that the power supply is out of the way, next month I am planning on which hard drives to get. I have been a BIG fan of Maxtor, but now it is under Seagate. Below is the quick Specs of what I plan to do with these drives. One HD will be The WD Raptor X 150GB (Main HD) Atleast 3 to 4 HD for storage and the size will be 500GB Each. Now the question I have is which brand is good to get. I want a HD that doesn't get TOO HOT, Quiet and Good in Performance. I know there are only few brands out there, but I just wanted to know which would you guys recommend. Western Digital HD Maxtor/Seagate HD Samsung Plus whatever else you guys recommend.Thx for all the help! P.S. Fusion
  14. Hey Guys I just wanted to give you an update to my choice of power supply and I have gone with your guys choice and picked the one and only "Corsair HX620W." I got a really sweet deal on it. It was $127.39 Plus S/H $8.95 and the Grand Total was: $136.34. I got a really nice deal for a really good Power Supply. Now the waiting begins... Thx for all your guys help! P.S. Fusion!
  15. I did look at that ATI Card, but since I am not a ATI fan, I don't plan to go ATI for TV Tuner. But thx for the input. Second, I know there are not a lot of sound cards that are PCIe, but my new system won't be ready untill next year either. So I can wait. Plus I am really waiting for the release Asus Sound Card.
  16. Hey Guys, I was looking around for HD TV Turner Card for my new system that I am working on and I just wanted to get your guys opinion on which Good Brand I should go for. In the past I have used Hauppauge's Product and I had no problem with them at all. Now that I am entering the HD TV Turner card and I am also looking at ONLY PCI-E Cards. I think I am done with PCI and I am gona go all out with PCI-E. In the new system, I am planning to have every card that I add to be PCI-E. Graphic Card (Already PCI-E), Sound Card, and HD TV Turner Card. I got the latest new on Intel's X38 Chipset last night and we are gona start to see X38 Based Motheboard starting September. And I am planning to get either Intel or Asus Motherboard. If anyone cares to read more about this, Click Here! I checked out the latest release of the Hauppauge new WinTV-HVR-1800 Card and I do like what I read. Of course there are no reviews since the product is brand new. So if you guys can take a look at my choice and tell me if it is good or not. Here is the link: WinTV-HVR-1800 Thx for all your guys help. P.S. Fusion
  17. Hey Guys, I just wanted to ask you guys one question on the Corsair HX620W PS. Since it doens't support the new 8-Pin Setup for the new Graphic Cards (I am looking at the 8800GTS), How will I be able to get around this? Do I need to buy an adapter or what. I know the Corsair HX620W only have 6-Pin. So if anyone can comment on this, it would really help me out! P.S. Fusion
  18. I know it sound crazy guys, but I don't see me updating my system every year. That crazy. That's why I build a system every 4 - 5 years. This might shock you, but the system I am running right now is still Intel Penitum 4 3.0GHz With HT Technology. I know it sounds Ice Age and I agree with you. So now the system I am building I am gona Future Proof whatever I can to get me threw four years, before I build my next system. P.S. Fusion
  19. Just to let you guys know, I usually don't sell my old hardware. When I buy something, I plan to keep it atleast 4 years. So when I get a graphic card, I want to get a card that will last me four years. Also my old computer usually goes to my brother. That is the main reason I future proof my system. I build a system every four years. Unless there is something I must have right away. That why I am looking into getting the 620HX and either 8800GTS 320 or 640MB. But I think I can wait untill christmas when Nvidia releases the G9 and hopefully The G8 will drop in price. But I believe my system should be ready by the beginning of the 08.
  20. Zxian I don't know how much Thank you I can say to you. You have been really helpful. All you guys have been really helpful in this process. After reading around, I am gona do some good reviews on the 620HX and if everything comes out good, I am gona go with that Power Supply. Once again Zxian, you are OFF THE HOOK. Thx for all the help and all you guys, thx for all the input and all the help! Just to give you guys an update on my graphic card selection I am still looking at Evga 8800GTS 320 and 640MB. But I am starting to lean more and more towards the 320 Model because of its price. 640MB still isn't out of my looks, If I have the money I am gona go with the 8800GTS 640MB Model and if not I am gona go with the 320MB Model. Thx All for all youe help! P.S. Fusion
  21. The reason I am making a big deal is because when I look at the watts of the PS, Corsair HX620W, it looks really small. I know looking at the watts doesn't mean anything. I do like the Corsair HX620W when it comes to price. I can buy this right away. I really do like the Enermax Infiniti 720W because of the more watts. But comapred to the Corsair, it is more expensive. I just need to make sure that the power supply that I get will power my system without any problems. I don't want to have power problems down the road. Also I don't plan to run my system 24/7 either. So if you guys think that the Corsair HX620W is the way to go, then let me know. I hope that it can power my system to the fulliest. And it would be really good on my budgets. Thx for all the input! P.S. Fusion
  22. Thx alot Zxian, you have been really helpful in this topic. After reading around I have read not to get the new EVGA 8800GTS with 512MB. Not a strong Card for my usage. So now the decision is on me. I am gona look at the 8600GT with 256MB and Also look at the 8800GTS with 320MB. I have already done reviews on the 8800GTS 640MB Version and it a really good card. But I have read that the 640MB only comes handy when you are getting into hight resolution. My New Samsung 22" goes up to 1680x1050 and I am really happy with that. Once again thx for all the help guys and when I do make my decision, I will be sure to share it with you guys! P.S. Fusion
  23. How much do I love my new LCD, really ALOT. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't like it. It was a really good upgrade from the 15" that I had for a long time. So yes, I do like my LCD alot. And Zxian, I am really sorry. I know you methond both of my choices earlier. How about a little more help me choose a Graphic Card? 8600GT or 8800GTS 320 or 640MB for Samsung 22" LCD Display! Also What's your guys opinion on the new EVGA 8600GTS with 512MB, Would that be a good graphic card? Click Here Thx to all for your help! P.S. Fusion
  24. Hey Guys, I have learned alot from this thread and I am gona say no to OCZ Power Supply. Now I have narrowed my collection to these Power supplies. Infiniti 720 or Corsair HX 620! If you guys were to recommend me a Power Supply, Which of these two would you recommend? I have heard a lot of good things about both of these power supplies. Expecially the Corsair HX620. These Two (Maybe) PCP&C Silencer 750 or Seasonic M12-700 On the topic of 8600GT, with the 22" that I just got, would it have the resolution Size. Once again thx for all your guys input in this Power Supply Topic P.S. Fusion
