    install length

hello, i just tried this morning to add programs into my xp's cd. maybe i went a little bit euphoric cause i put 190mb of addons, however when running the iso on virtual pc (2002) using classic setup look, the install stays on the "Installing Windows XP" dialog box. i already made others iso and i know it should be faster than that. i tried to find on faq or google how addons where installed but didn't find. i tried to rebuild iso 2 times and the problem is still the same. did i make a mistake somewhere ? ps: i add ie7+wmp11+hotfixes+addons at the same time on nlite. thanks
  2. well, it took quite too long to install vista. the computer on which i installed it: P4 2.8, 2 Go DDR, SATA HD and a small radeon after the long setup i finally played with the "revolution" claimed by ms. to me it's just another improvment of xp which was an improvment of 2k. i didnt find anything so good that would explain the need to buy a new os. plus at that time, the very next days after the commercial release there was no "light" version. finally the hard drives 100% compatible (flash drive+standard hard drive) are just about to be commercialized. so it took just about a year (or more i dont remember the exact date) to be able to use vista in a decent way. ps: i usually dont like ms products like windows, but xp is a good os and is still running ok. that's why i'm still using it. ps2: i played a little bit more with vista when i was @ a friend's home. there's too much restrictions or too much dialog boxes on each action.
  3. ok i'll try it tonigh. thx. @Extravert: i tried vista ... one hour, just enough to get p***ed of it. so i cant really help sorry.
  4. here's the file please note that i'm french some many options are in french but looks like the essential remains in english DERNI_RE_SESSION.INI
  5. i'm not quite sure of that. where can i see in session.ini if i checked this option ?
  6. hello i've been using nlite for a while now and my latest iso have some weird bug (actually it already happens before). nlite process everything ok (xp+sp2+hotfixes+tweaks) and burn + install of xp goes without any problem aswell. the glitch comes when windows is up and running. as soon as i plug an usb device (key, hard drive) the device install window pops up. when clicking 'next' it finds out quickly the good drivers in c:/windows/inf and then install it, still i wonder why it have to asks for it. there may be something wrong in registry somewhere i guess, but i didnt found the exact key to fix. does anyone already experience something like that ? tia

    Messenger 5.0

I still cannot do it but I think I found out why it doesn't work. Actually the last version of nLite might change something about insmsiw inside cab of the cd. I don't see any other reason, I just post a reply to myself in case someone else has the same problem. The thing may be corrected by reinstalling insmsiW or insmsiA (depending of the os) but I'm not quite sure about that. I'll give a try then post a final message if I'm right

    Messenger 5.0

Ok, this thing is quite weird. Depending on the version of the nlite xp cd, I have a strange message while installing Messenger 5.0. On one cd it goes well but on another I have a message like this: "The following app "Xplode core"' is using files which are about to be updated, close the window before continuing" Of course this is kind of boring, so if anyone have an idea about the reason this will be great. I simply use the /qb switch to install the Messenger 5.0.
  9. Post the xml file maybe but looking @ it, someone can see something to help you
  10. For my unattended cds I want to have a "clean" start menu. I mean "Windows Media Player,Internet Explorer,Outlook Express.lnk" stored in sub folders. I tried several ways to do it (@ T-12 first then using runonceex with a batch), yet it still doesn't work fine. I know the commands are the good ones because if i launch the batch from win it perfectly change the shortcuts path. So, as a question i would like to know if there's a way to launch the batch after the start menu creation in the win logon process. Or else if someone has find another method i'll apply it for sure Thanks
  11. Well i guess i didn't read enough cause i never saw this thing about the dll. I'm gonna try it asap and if it works well thanks a lot m8
  12. Hello, I have a strange error from Xplode when running under a w2k setup (server version actually dont have tested with pro version). I use the same thing with Xp setup and it works fine but under 2k i have the following error : "xplode is not a valid win32 app" The only thing that comes up to me is that xplode isn't compatible with 2k but is it the case ? Thanks. Ps: I use a simple command line for launching Xplode (just specifying the xml file)
