  2. Hello DSL users! I am preparing to upgrade from a dialup connection to Verizon DSL service. The system requirements listed on Verizon's website seem to MANDATE the presence of MS Internet Explorer and (I think) ActiveX. I use/run a heavily nLited version of Windows 2000 with Internet Explorer and other MS-middleware removed. Question: - What is the best way to achieve Verizon DSL service WITHOUT the presence of Internet Explorer? Thank you.
  3. I thought the referenced article might be of interest to some people here. :-) Sunday, July 24, 2005 Running Windows with No Services by Mark Russinovich http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2005/07/r...o-services.html
  4. 12-8-04 Problem: "Dial-up to the Internet" option disabled/ greyed out Hello! I just installed Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP2 w/ all Hot Patches on an HP Pavilion 6736 desktop box with 191 megs of RAM and a Celeron processor. I stripped a few Windows components from the install disk with nLite but don't remember which items. The install was successful with one exception: While trying to configure Dial-up access through the Network Connection Wizard, of the five options offered, one, the "Dialup to the Internet" option is disabled/ greyed out. Apparently, I went a bit TOO lite with nLite. :-) Anyone have suggestions for saving this install? P.S. The modem: HP Smart Lucent V.90 Win Modem Data/Fax PCI Device manager indicates that the modem is installed and "working properly". Modem Diagnostics, again, "O.K." Screen captures: www.coldenergy.com/nlite/dial-up_disabled.gif www.coldenergy.com/nlite/modem.gif Also... I LOVE nLite! :-) Thanks in advance. Keyboard
