  1. I uninstall nLite and reinstalled .

    I Start with Fresh source,slipstream SP3,Done.

I go into source and TCPIP6.SY_ was there. I extracted and was tcpip6.sys file version: 5.1.2600.5512

(copy and pasted to desktop/ do not mess up source)

1.) I goto hotfix section and integrate "KB978338 below KB2509553" and TCPIP6.SY_ dissappeared and left behind tcpip6.sys file version: 5.1.2600.5935 ...

    I Start with Fresh source again,slipstream SP3,Done.

2.) I try this other way around, KB2509553 below KB978338 and same TCPIP6.SY_ dissappeared and left behind tcpip6.sys file version: 5.1.2600.5625

I also integrated everything (fresh source) and didn't arange any updates except for "KB978338 below KB2509553" and that turned out correct. Is it possible that XP pro is different than Home when it comes to integrating ? I see you run pro 32.

  2. OK. You can take that nLited source and burn it and you should have a clean Windows Update. And you now know what to do in the future...put KB978338 below KB2509553.

The problem is your nLite is "broken". It should automatically use the higher version sys file without resorting to sorting. What version of nLite are you using?

It is also very strange that tcpip6.sys was expanded.

Thank you -X-, for knowledge and patients.

    Im using nLite v1.4.9.1 | Installer | 2.54 MB from nuhi's website.

I didn't sort updates before so Im going to have to go with "broken" theory .. :D No idea how that could happen but would explain how my SP3 didn't slip properly last session.

    .

  3. BWAHAHAHAH!!!! You manually slipstream'd SP3 onto a pre-SP3 XP, right? Wonder how many other duplicates you have (compressed vs uncompressed)? nLite when SLIPSTREAMING A SERVICE PACK ONLY would have "cleaned up" for you...

Impossible action. I have SP2 Home OEM. No Duplicate -

Please make no doubt with -X-, this is one time mistake as I do things very thorough. I believe I hit 'next' button after sp3 integration done but before the number changed.Either that or forgot to slip SP3 but doubtful,Im sure I remember it extracting and installing.

    EDIT:

edit2 - see this as well - TWO of you with same problem?

    http://www.msfn.org/...view=getnewpost

I read thread but seen no solution.

Edit again: I see solution now but don't like solution.

  4. I Made critical error last time... Only last time, sorry.

This time no mistake but /switch still didn't extract file so universal extracter did..

    TCPIP6.SY_ . extracted to file version 5.1.2600.5625

EDIT: on a side note, I386 folder also had tcpip6.sys file right next to TCPIP6.SY_ and tcpip6.sys file was also version 5.1.2600.5625

  5. Lets do this so you don't have to keep on reinstalling... (BTW, are you testing on a virtual machine or your real system?)

Real system. I tried to use vmareplayer (or whatever it called) but wouldn't install but didn't inquire much as to why and say what the heck,I just do real system.

Go ahead and run nLite as you normally do and stop there.

Open a command prompt and type

    expand -r <drive letter>:\<path to>\I386\TCPIP6.SY_ "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop"

Changing drive letter and path to to the real path of your source folder.

tcpip6.sys will be expanded to your desktop. Check the version number and report back.

I understand... So I do this is my command

    expand -r C:\xpcd\I386\TCPIP6.SY_ "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop"

It say "can't open input file" C:\xpcd\I386\TCPIP6.SY_ .

I try it in 'run' as well and just flash command promp = nothing left on desktop.

So I search for it in I386 and found file but file version info not there . Not sure what is wrong with my command ? I try without " " as well, still no luck (?)

EDIT: I copied and pasted TCPIP6.SY_ folder to desktop and extracted with universal extractor, and tcpip6.sys file came out with properties of file version 5.1.2600.2180... (If that helps)

  6. Did you install the update once you saw it on WU? If you didn't can you check tcpip6.sys and tell me what version it is?

    Yes,I did install it.

So when I reinstall, I shouldn't install when it shows up on WU ?

But I should navigate to where to check the tcpip6 ?

Edit: I find and will do on next install.

  7. Attach your "Last Session.ini" if using nLite.

    .ini

It appears that MAYBE you are making the same mistake that many make when integrating HotFixes.... In the "Add Hotfixes" part, the List is presented when you add them. At the Top of the List, you need to Sort them by Date Ascending.

Yes, I make same mistake, no sorting by date, just added them as they are. Didn't know it mattered with exception of -X- footnote # 9 - "Due to a bug in nLite, KB977816 must be processed before KB2115168. To do this, simply check the sort order of your Hotfix, Add-ons and Update Packs section of nLite. Sorting them by date, with the oldest first, is a good idea" -

So I make sure and was in order already.(oldest date closer to top) I read people arange and people don't but I do other CD w/ WMP11 same way, same order and it integrated perfect..

Question, What about Adobe and other few updates with no date(one piece IE8 etc.),do I add on top, bottom or just leave in place and move others with date in order ?

Also a VERY important question... Is this a Non-English XP Source? If so, you may need the Language Files for the language it's in... (don't remember if you said...)

I have English XP source from inside USA.

It probably integrated but it just used the wrong tcpip6.sys file.

    tcpip6.sys.png

As you can see it's contained in both KB978338 and KB2509553. The newer version of tcpip6.sys is actually in KB978338. So it looks like it used the one in KB2509553.

Did you by chance turn on display reports in hotfix, advanced? If you did, you need to keep the highest version number.

No, I don't do this on last integration so you recommend ? Ok,will do so.

Edited to cleanup .ini 'cut/paste' and use attachment function instead.

  8. Thank you to -X-, You have been most helpful and have the best thing for nLite. You investigate updates very greatly as reflected in your changelog and WU..

My installs are most perfect, couldn't have done it without you, thank you sir. :thumbup

I must donate now. Thank you much for your experience and creation !

    Im done here,I donate tomorrow.

  9. What about footnote 4? It's still relevant.

    If you're slipstreaming IE8, replace WindowsXP-KB2675157-x86-ENU.exe with IE8-WindowsXP-KB2699988-x86-ENU.exe.

KB2675157 isn't in your updater anymore as it was replaced by KB2699988..

    Edit: Should footnote 4 now read " replace KB2699988-x86-ENU.exe with IE8-WindowsXP-KB2699988-x86-ENU.exe ?

  10. New updates.

Windows XP Security Update for Windows XP (KB2685939) Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Windows Update

Windows XP Security Update for Windows XP (KB2709162) Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Windows Update

Windows XP Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2699988) Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Windows Update

Windows XP Security Update for Windows XP (KB2707511) Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Windows Update

  11. Looks good. :thumbup

I did a little further inspection of the updates and WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB952069-v2-x86-ENU.exe was published before the WMP11 installer and the installer has newer file versions. So you can remove that from your update list and confirm if you feel like it.

    Note to self: KB952069 1/13/2009 - wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe signing time: Tuesday, February 03, 2009 12:36:26 AM

Yes, confirm.. No need for update KB952069 anymore... Kept out of integration this time and it didn't show up on MS Updates..

  12. Steps in order.

    I use downloader,add IE8 addon to downloader folder,make adjustmentes in footnotes 4 5 6

Then add WMP11 to downloader folder and follow instruction to the letter

You should not use the WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KBxxxxxx-x86-ENU.cab files but instead the original files. See footnote 1.

This is total 6 updates in .exe extension so I replace 6.

I do one of 6 update seperately,as you say unchecked/delete nlite file then procede to other updates as normal.

Already preinstalled boogy wmp11 slipslreamer and it pop up automatically during integration.

I add no additional updates and nothing pop up in windowsupdate but malicious tool remove.

    I make no mistake,read whole thread with You,Alice,and submix8c.

Should I add additional updates or unessary ?

I use Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) as well and No additional updates in your list above are mentioned.

  13. To username X, on other thread you tell Alice to change 6 update cab with .exe ones when integrating WMP11,so I use boogy application and did as you say (uncheck box.delete Nlite file) But I do this before reading your last post and didn't add other 4 updates. I install and nothing but malicious tool show up on Microsoft Updates. So I do or don't need other 4 updates as you mentioned ? (last 4 in your list)

  14. Very Good information.I read all of the link. Yes wmp11,latest media player. On Nuhi's old guide tutorial he say to drop wmp11 in hotfix section of nlite but on link you provided Alice is useing booogie application.

I would like to use Nlite application as it works so easy without flaw so far.

Question. Can I use nlite application for wmp11 integration if I make necessary adjustment as decribed in link you provided,or is boogie application necessary ?
