-X- Do you know right off hand if there has been any additional updates after your August 14 changelog ?

But your install had WGA.Validation.AddOn-v1.9.42.0.7z?
If you hadn't slipstreamed them...
One installs when you first visit WU. The other one is pure garbage.
Oh, I forget WGA doesn't show up in list -oops - wasn't thinking correctly.

No I mean, I haven't made a new install cd with those 2 updates yet but they never showed up on wu.

Thank you.
Question: You have these listed but WU isn't showing those in my list or even when I hit update. "no high priority,etc.." Any Ideas ?

I figured it was something along those lines.
-X- I must donate today for your outstanding support, again, much appreciation for the updater and everything you have done Thus far. I put your website on my if you like, this CD creation would be much more difficult without the updater -sheesh - would be a nightmare for me because I would have to figure out how to do the changlog and learn how to make compatible .cabs .
I think I know how to make simple ones from the information provided in this thread (a link) by either you or submix8c,but this I have not tested yet.

Thank you -X-, for updating updater again.
Question: Why is update 'KB2718704' dated at 5/31/2012 when the update that just came out (KB2698365) dated at 5/28/2012 ?

What is the "unattended txt" for in the i386 folder ? It deosn't even have the same product key as does the winnt.sif file that is also in there. (OEM/before I do anything to source)
I know to replace the winnt.sif file with the one I make with deployment tool but is it better to keep "unattended.txt" in there like I have always done ? Any reason to remove it ?

I download the file then extract to desktop.
Then I extract the infs from data cab 1 and move them to the XP folder with the cat files and point the infs in the xp folder to nlite.

I'm not sure if it matters. I just copied and pasted what I read via a Google search on the filenames.
How are you adding them to your CD and can you provide the download links for your chipset? If the one I posted isn't the one you are using.
I just got a dell dimention 2400 for 25 bucks from neighbor /with Xp home.. Service Tag: GW6DX51 and chipset say 'System chip set
Intel 845GV' . So I go to intel and find this here
Im done with dimention 4600, that cd works perfect. Im getting dell lattitude laptop soon with xp pro but couldn't refuse dimention 2400 for 25 bucks.
EDIT: Sorry for confusion.

infinst_autol.exe
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19596
So it doesn't really matter which one I use when integrating in nlite, correct ?
I renamed it to WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256.Add-on.Creator.zip. My bad.
No not your Mistake -X-, I forgot to run the .bat file before I threw it in nlite.. I realized my mistake and edited my post..

Thanks to you for that information submix8c. Had power outage (Maryland) just restored power today.
Question. Would it be preferable to leave update engine out of integration until new engine here ?

Suits me...
I was, however, referring to the CD contents (Dell XP Home with SP2) that is specifically for your Dell PC for the purpose of "Pre-Activated" (but "changed" to an "Official" SP3).
Side note - it APPEARS that you shouldn't have any problems (based on my check of another OEM XP-SP2) since SP3 "overwrites" certain "OEM modified SP2" INF (etc) files but WILL leave extraneous files behind. Basically, it would have given you "Generic XP Home SP3" as if you'd purchased the OEM CD Package, except the Dell-specific files for Pre-Activate would be there (you already have the "special" key in Original WINNT.SIF).
C-ya when you come back for help with your new toy (IF you need it)! (P.S. IF it is a pre-installed XP-Pro, BE CAREFUL not to booger the HDD as to "wipe" a potential Restore Partition - you want to keep that stuff.)
Good information, Thank you. I intend to keep this and buy laptop for convienence as well as main one. Not the best laptop but newer than this.
Let me ask you, is there any good purpose in keeping the 'restore Partition' since im getting the pysical xp disk ?

Very Kind of you Mr. submix8c but I'm going to buy a used Latitude/w xp pro for 150 $. Very kind of you and -X- to give top excellence in support.
This computer like 9-10 years old so doubtful any 2004 folders in this OEM, but much appreciated support as I will make unattended for new latitude.

Hmmm... I just realized something. You are using a Dell XP Home OEM w/SP2.
I have a Dell XP Pro w/SP3. There is (or may be) an "$OEM$" folder on it in the ROOT as well as a preexisting "WINNT.SIF" in the "I386" folder. Also, there MAY be some added/changed files in the "I386" folder (in my case for SATA drivers among other items).
This MIGHT cause you some problems.
There is an oem folder in my source and I replace winnt.sif in i386 with one I make from deployment tool .
-X- I did tweeks today and made new cd,did install and no problems, owever I noticed "7.6.7600.256 of the Windows Update Agent" this must be new,yes ?

KB2699988 contains some registry entries but I doubt a cleaner would have touched those. I don't recommend running registry cleaners. They can cause problems.
If it wasn't in fact cleaning the registry, I'm at a loss to explain why it showed up. That is if you haven't already applied it. Then we can check file versions.
Err.. I do same thing and install because it was on pop up balloon and didn't think to check first, but no big deal, this cd perfect and first time it happen. I wait till next install but don't expect again.
I will stop using regcleaner but I thought ccleaner 'reg' section was less problem than others, such as reg mechanic,etc..... Anything that find 350 errors first time can't be good..

I just got a WU update today 'KB2699988' but I know this didn't show up on this install when first integrated, check and double check,etc... nothing show up but until today.
I use registry ccleaner everytime I uninstall a few programs. Is this possibly a cause ? I know update integrated and was proper as I also test on VM.

>>>I would like to ask you ,'PinkFreud' what is size of your final integrated cd/dvd ?<<<
I haven't burned a CD yet but original "clean" SP3 source was 591 MB, final nLited ISO is 319 MB.
Does this extensive "slimming" make your OS run better/faster ?
Or to some atvantage ?

When integrating drivers with nLite,I know intel chipset go first but I read somewhere that network come second (maybe nuhi's guide can't remember) is this matter of fact or not matter a way that the rest of drivers integrate ?
Is there an optimal preference ?

I would like to ask you ,'PinkFreud' what is size of your final integrated cd/dvd ?
I see Im barely making it without application addons so I too must cut out 'lang' (99mb) folder, and few others as mentioned on unattended site "slimming down cd ."

If you want to slipstream Internet Explorer 8, download this add-on creator and replace the updates mentioned in footnotes 4, 5, 6 and 13.
Where is footnote 13 ?
