  1. i'm fairly certain you wouldn't really see any difference using fat32 vs fat16 on a usb drive. I think the main reason companies use fat16 is so older OS's can use the drive.

You could always try it and let us know ;)

I think the USB2 speed (480Mbits) is the bottleneck, not so much the file system.

  2. you may not have to go that complicated... what I did was make sure all the computer names were different, and that all 3 computers were in the same workgroup.

Some routers have it setup that wireless clients cannot talk to any other PCs on the network, so you might have to check your router to see if that's available/enabled in your router.

for whatever reason, sometimes the computers won't show up in network places, but if you go to start -> run and put in "\\computername" without quotes, it should open the computer name you're trying to access

  3. from what I googled, it seems that

A- you would need a machine specific image located on a server

B- a NIC that supports booting from LAN (most new ones don't anymore)

C- at least a Gigabit network, but even then, loading XP would probably take more time than it would be worth.

D- a lot of time to devote to setting it up as it seems no websites I was able to find had how-to's. It was generally done back in the day when 100MB hard drives were $500

  4. honestly, if you have this many questions, it may benefit you to create a brand new unattended CD from scratch, and follow the guide @ http://unattended.msfn.org

Even if you know bits and pieces, it's good to do the whole thing as you would learn exactly where to put everything, and the other finer details. Because there's an entire guide, you'll find very few members willing to explain it all to you when Alanoll (and others) have done such an excellent job already.

    good luck

  5. ASUS makes really good motherboards (#1 in my book), but if you're not going to be doing anything serious PC gaming, it would make sense to get a non-SLI based board like ASUS K8N-E Deluxe.

I love that motherboard. No bad points really. I haven't had even a hint of issues with it.

as far as memory, if your looking top, then you can't go wrong with Corsair XMS 1GB

nothing wrong w/ that CPU... just make sure you use either the stock cooler, or some cooler like this Thermaltake cooler

  6. totally agree with blam-o.... you kill 1, 10 pop up in its place...

A big problem is that our court system is very tech-stupid, meaning the people involved in the decision making (judges etc.) don't understand technology very well.

How is it when Sony was sued by the MPAA because of the betamax those judges understood that you can actually produce a product with good intentions but there will always be people who abuse it, where these judges cannot? I thought we are supposed to get smarter over time, not dumber?

One thing technology is very good at is adaptation... software makers will adapt to the environment

  7. if you were distributing the modified packages to make a profit, I could definitely see the companies banging down your door because you're making money off (mostly) their work.

However if you are saving people time by providing something they would have to have done themselves, I can't see how that's illegal.
