  1. anyone know how to change the "show folder contents while dragging" options with a tweak?
  2. Thanks guys, you were really helpful i meant to say i wanted to disable "show folder contents while dragging"
  3. hi all, i have two things, both concerning registry settings/tweaks the first is in the title. is there a specific command for deleting a reg entry in much the same way the runonceex adds them in? i'm silently installing Paint Shop Pro 9 and i have this annoying right-click context menu entry "Browse with paint shop pro 9" i've isolated the reg key (which wouldn't do anything since that key is already in place) what i want to know is how to use this key to delete the entry. second thing, is there an entry for "show folder contents while dragging" in folder options? i know i might get flamed for not searching properly but a search of registry settings yields 100s of pages which don't seem to answer my fixes. if anyone could either point me in the right direction, i'd be grateful. thanks
  4. right, this is what happens: the software installs fine; i don't need a log file to run it either. however after i've done the UaDVD install and gone into the working windows i've created, i get the registration dialogue pop up asking me if want to register, but i've already run the reg tweak which contains the activation code and other bits etc. i've also run the "no registration popup" regtweak which mickmack suggested which doesn't work, so i took the other "registration pop up dialogue killer" which resides in my original XP install and tried to run that on the UaDVD XP i installed...still nothing. as i said before WinDVD seems to work fine when i delete the GPI settings in the registry including the pop up reminder...any ideas? or maybe i should just run the registration tweak then delete the entry and see what happens
  5. Yeah that's why i wanted to see if there's a separate QT installer package and not iTunes all in one dealie. however the QT alternative is looking tempting, i always hated having another player open up when i only really use WMP and WMPClassic more often. on a related note, does anyone know where the reg settings are for QT? i'd like to be able to make a reg file and execute it in the runonceex for registering/activating etc. Thanks
  6. ****! that is quite superb of you! many thanks. i just tried it now and it works. could you tell me how you made it, if it doesn't violate anything?
  7. any chance of a QT-only installer? i know some of us don't use iTunes. Many thanks.
  8. Sure no problem, where do you want to make the shortcut? I do this during cleanup.cmd, to create shorcuts to other NirSoft Utilities i add. Just have nircmd.exe in system32, i assume you know how to use runonceex. In this example I create 2 folders: Utilities (in Start Menu) and NirSoft Utilities (in Utilities), and add shorcuts to the programs in there. cmdow @ /HID shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now complete setup and restart in 1 minute..." net user aspnet /delete set AUStart=%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\Programs set UserStart=%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs set UserStart=%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs set UserQL=%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch set AUDesk=%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop REM :: Make New Folders :: MD "%AUStart%\Utilities" MD "%AUStart%\Utilities\NirSoft Utilities" REM :: Creating Shortcuts using NirCmd :: nircmd.exe shortcut "%ProgramFiles%\NirSoft Utilities\cports.exe" "~$folder.programs$\Utilities\NirSoft Utilities" "CurrPorts" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How can i create shortcuts of all that's in My Computer? i'd like to have shortcuts of the drives on the desktop. i've just been fiddling with nircmd right now and it's a nifty prog
  9. i've tried to use this but it doesn't work for me, i want to add my hard drive and CD DVD disk drive shortcuts to the desktop, could you give an example how this could be done, please?
  10. i did find that after running winDVD7 and the trial dialogue pops up, after i deleted the GPI settings in the registry the trial dialogue disappears and i have the full registered version...i'll keep experimenting
  11. i think most people's problem isn't with silently installing. it was to do with getting the blasted thing to work after we had run our unattended discs. sorry to bump this thread, but i'm running through my UaDVD and just arrived at the same problem described earlier in here
  12. Yeah that part works fine, i have no problem silently installing WinDVD. it's when i want to silently register and activate that seems to be the stumbling block; maybe i should change the order in my RunOnce so that the reg setting gets imported first into the registry then runonce installs the prog?
  13. hi again, i exported the reg file for activating it from my own windows XP - just like you said, but the problem is that when i've run my UaDVD and checked all the programs are working, i get the "WinDVD needs to be registered and has expired" dialogue box, i know the reg file gets put into the new XP but it doesn't seem to do anything. any help?
  14. i understand you perfectly. what you're saying is that if you use the %CDROM% command then everything will be installed from the disc, this is what you do and i agree it's one method. however i read elsewhere on here that if you use the %systemdrive% command it dumps the entire install folder into a temp folder/area on the HDD and installs from there then you use the cleanup.cmd to get rid of the install folder....anyone else agree/disagree?
  15. ok. but if you use ....."%systemdrive%\Software\WinDVD7\Setup.exe /s" /f doesn't that mean runonce will put the files on the hard drive first before installing them to the desired location?
  16. in my cleanup cmd i don't use sleep.exe 20 and it restarts fine
  17. what benefits do you get from running the log file silently?
  18. is it alright to actually add "%systemdrive%\Software\WinDVD7\Setup.exe /s" /f to the runonce, since i read that using that switch won't work unless it's running off the HDD. i've running it just as described from my computer and it installs silently to my requirements. anyone have any problems with it not installing from the CD/DVD?
  19. Hi, does anyone know what switch to use to silently install Bearshare Lite? i don't know what installer it uses. Thanx for any help Nevermind, i found it is /S using CMenu (thanks, that man)
  20. Thnx, i'll try that (sorry for long pause in reply - been playing Half-Life 2, lol)
  21. Re: cleanup.cmd, i want to delete some user specific shortcuts on the desktop, namely DVD Shrink and Spybot1.3 as well some more shortcuts in programs files. now, i know that not all shortcuts belong to one specific user. i have looked at the profiles and i see three: All Users, Default User and "my name" (the account that's under my name). what i would like to know is, which one is the Administrator account, and what would i have to enter in my cleanup.cmd to delete user specific shortcuts. currently i have : RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\DVD Shrink 3.1.lnk" RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy.lnk" RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Outlook Express.lnk" which are the ones that do not function as intended.
  22. i've managed to glean from microsoft.com and from http://unattended.sourceforge.net/installers.html which says you can silently install Net Framework with the following Run dotnetfx.exe /q /c:"install /q" to perform a silent installation. my concern is that i'm using RunOnce Ex: REG ADD %KEY%\026 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\dotnetfw.exe /q /c:"install /q" /f i know i have to put in "and / somewhere but don't know where...help! Thankx
  23. i don't get it...i'm sure it's been said before but my brain is fried. all i see in the Docs and Settings folder are three folders, one named "All Users" one named "Default User" and another named "Mr X" (my name). the Default User is hidden by default (no pun), which one is the Admin account? i use RunOnceEx.
  24. Next question: how do you go about silently installing DVD Shrink 3.1 or better?
