chyronn replied to Sereby's topic in Application Add-Ons

Hello, i've acquired Wise Installation Studio (WIS) in an attempt to try and repackage DivX Installer so i can install it silently. so far i'm finding WIS very intuitive to use and followed the tutorial with satisfying results. however i would like to know how to package an application already installed on a host computer. do i simply go to the Program Files directory and locate the folder the program is in, or is there another way? i also gathered from the tutorial that in order to add reg keys i would go to the registry entry and copy it from there. but i'm wondering how easy it is to actually re-package an application. any help is much appreciated thanks

Slipstream dotnetfx into WinXP
chyronn replied to The Forum Troll's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
i've already done it via one of the other routes -
i can't remember what the popup said as i then went on to install 7zip. incidentally since installing7zip and then trying out your guide to drag the nero 9.exe over to extract.exe, a 7zip dialogue pops up with a progress meter indicating it's extracting, however at the end, there's no folder created with extracted files inside. what (seems to*) work for me is separately installing 7zip then extracting the nero executable into a folder then running your tool. so far with just nero express left in - everything else removed - the SFX is 140Mb *haven't run the SFX as i already have a copy of nero 9 installed. but have checked the archive and seems to be ok.

brilliant tools x Shadow X! i used them both although i found the Extract tool didn't work for me, it kept giving me a pop up error, however i noted you said you could use 7zip so i did and that worked fine. i've "slimmed" down my nero 9 virtually everything except Nero Express (i'm assuming you can't strip out Nero Burning ROM). but that still comes out at around 141MB i'm using Nero 9.0.9.9b by the way. what do you do to make the installation footprint less than 70Mb?

Slipstream dotnetfx into WinXP
chyronn replied to The Forum Troll's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
from the post you listed as "various possibilities 1. 2. 3." EDIT: it works fine. integration took less than 20s. i had extracted the file instead of just putting the 7zip file -

*new* Hp All-in-one Printer Software & Drivers
chyronn replied to DigeratiPrime's topic in Hardware Hangout
ok, i know this is a really old topic, but it tries to address some of my problems. but i still can't get my printer to work. like some posters on here, i have an HP all-in-one which requires it to be in the USB when installing the drivers. however since i've added a printer server i can't get the **** wizard to recognise it's on the network. i get the generic drivers that come with XP but not my one. i've tried have disk but it never lists the driver that should be on the disk itself. this is how far i've got: i can manually configure the port so it's a standard TCP/IP port under the ports tab of the printer properties, but under advanced, i cannot change the driver to the correct one; it gives me the list again. i've looked on the HP website and there's a thing called the network assistant which wasn't working for me i can't find the .inf file for the driver, it's simply not listing it any help please? -
the guide of "Using autoit for silent install"
chyronn replied to master_mtz's topic in Application Installs
you need to make sure the "Record Window Text" option is ticked and "Record Mouse" is unticked -
let this be a lesson to you, NEVER lend/loan games that require a valid CD key to play online, i don't.

Adding Intel SATA Drivers to an installation CD in 15 steps
chyronn replied to nAFutro's topic in Device Drivers
There is another way to obtain the files and it will also work in the feature with newer releases of the drivers. You will need to download the Win32 setup of Intel Matrix Storage driverpackage from Intel.com instead of F6 floppy installer. After that you can extract the files from the downloaded archive, this can be done by launching the iata.exe file from a prompt or the Windows run with the following parameters: \iata621_enu.exe" -A -PC:\IATA This way the files will be extracted to the C:\IATA folder without installing them on your system. the files located in the C:\Extracted\Driver\ folder are the same as the files you will find in the F6 floppy installer. the \iata621_enu.exe" -A -PC:\IATA part doesn't work for me, it asks me for a location where the iata621_enu.exe is then setup.dll -
the way i do it is: unRar the driver pack (last one is Nov 2 2006) into my "$OEM%/$1/Drivers/00x_graphics" folder, that way it already installs without running through runonceex

you might want to delete your serial key, fqiafen, from here, about 375 people have already seen it
-
the thing with Nero v6.xxxx is that the software limitations are dependent on the serial code you enter. by the way OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
-
sounds like a decent idea, though i think planning the dynamics of such a mode would be a headache
-
no, there's more in the demo. best bit was the small asteroid bit where the monster looks at you once you're there, and Tommy says something to himself and the monster comes after you!. i thought it was a very surreal and humourous moment considering the game is pitched at being adult and full of gore. i'd love to see how that mutant cyborg sub-plot pans out...the guy who helps you out and if there are any more like him who haven't been converted. i felt very disorientated when you're on the ceiling looking over to the side to see some monsters who are shooting at you (the upturned Bar bit)

that/s pretty useless then

Cleanup.cmd not deleting icons on desktop
chyronn replied to chyronn's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks for your reply, for 1. do i just copy and paste what you've written or do i replace any of the %%s? i'm still not totally up on the syntax of these things. Thanks fot your help. -
hi all i'm having a problem getting cleanup.cmd to delete some icons i have on my desktop, post install. i've tried "AllUsersProfile" "UserProfile" and "Default User" but none of those succeed in deleting the icons. in my host install of XP (i.e. this one) i have listed the same admin profile name (my name), All Users and Default User (hidden). i've tried putting my name as the profile cleanup should use but that doesn't work either. is there another name i need to put in so that cleanup knows i'm the full-admin account that it can use to delete the icons and other bits? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Adding a file or files after installing with runonceex
chyronn replied to chyronn's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks for replying, you've given me ideas on how to proceed. To rephrase what i want to achieve: i've installed an app. it goes in Program Files\app. i then want to unattendedly put some files in the "app" folder. this is to be done all via runonceex. i could SFX the said files and stick them on the end of runonce so it doesn't confuse it when it's about to stick it in the destination folder.
